Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism. Tarlby (t) (c) 05:32, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Consistent vandalism by nationalistic editing from either IP Addresses or fresh accounts. TansoShoshen (talk) 07:14, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Last edit was a week ago. Sdrqaz (talk) 23:57, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason: I am making this request in a preventative context. There have been no real issues on Wikipedia EN thus far. One recent IP edit should be presumed to be in good faith. But externally there are small examples of Delap being drawn into wider culture wars. Delap is more vulnerable than most, being 87 years old, female, and a Quaker. And the Just Stop Oil climate activist group is clearly a controversial organization. I leave this decision in the hands of moderators, with considerably more skill and experience than me in this area. RobbieIanMorrison (talk) 08:54, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Page has been protected since 2015, about a decade ago. Given the very low level of vandalism since, I think we can try pending changes for some time Filmssssssssssss (talk) 00:40, 2 April 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

"Israeli soldiers have summarily executed Palestinian civilians, often in front of their families." This is one citation that leads to another citation (why not list the original reference?) where it describes a single alleged incident that has been disputed. The original citation is careful to use the term 'alleged' and 'still under verification' and yet the wiki page does not say 'alleged' or 'accused of' - and goes on to add the word 'often', even though only one alleged incident is referenced. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.230.248.39 (talk) 02:19, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

From the source: The facts below show that Israel has killed Palestinian
civilians in Gaza indiscriminately and en masse . . . Israeli military forces have shot civilians in front of their families,
shot civilians waving white flags . . .

This is JUST GRAMMAR. Under Name appears this passage:

"president Donald Trump signed a January 20, 2025 executive order directing federal agencies to adopt the name "Gulf of America" for the gulf waters bounded by the U.S.[27][28][29][b] Major online map platforms and several U.S.-based media outlets voluntarily adopted the change.[33][34][35] Mexican president Claudia"

It contains the word "president" twice. In both cases, the context (a SPECIFIC president) requires capitalization (President). 162.231.238.136 (talk) 20:06, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hello, I have created 75+ articles, since I got autopatrolled mostly focusing on television series. For transparency, I'm still working on the feedback received from @Schwede66 in my last request. And I intent to keep doing the good work. Thanks for your consideration. Wishing the community a prosperous new year. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 06:56, 17 January 2025 (UTC)

Could you please point to where the date of birth of Gautam Vig is referenced, C1K98V? Schwede66 08:14, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi @Schwede66, I hope you enjoyed your vacation. I have sourced the DOB in the early life section as per WP:INFOBOXREF. I followed the editing style of Geniac, the way he improved Sheezan Khan and tried adapting the same. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 08:48, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, I had a fab wee holiday. I don't understand your answer. I see that there is one ref in the infobox, and that reference does confirm the date of birth, but it is attached to the spouse only. Could you please explain what you mean, and how the referencing confirms the date of birth, C1K98V? Schwede66 08:59, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Schwede66 In the above mentioned article I have sourced the date of birth in the Early life section, see here. And the spouse's source is just about their marriage. I'm following the editing style of Geniac, the improvement he did in one of my previously created article see here. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 09:38, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
Sorry, which reference states the date of Vig's date of birth? I cannot see it. Schwede66 18:29, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Schwede66, I have used two sources for DOB, Colors TV and India Today. You can find both the sources in the Early life section. Hope it helps, if you still can't verify the birth date, you're most welcome to remove it. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 18:50, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
@C1K98V Is it just me or the webpage you're linking to from colorstv.com is redirecting to a /mena/ directory making it impossible to see what you're talking about or citing. As for the indiatoday.in, you did not initially position the citation as of when Schwede66 started reviewing your request, you only repositioned the citation today. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 19:07, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Hi Vanderwaalforces, I'm not sure if the Colorstv website works outside of India. Let's wait for Schwede66 to confirm if they're able to verify it. I'm sharing a screenshot of the website for reference [2]. While searching for sources related to their academics, I found IndiaToday and added it later in the Early life section. I repositioned the named citation as I wanted to highlight it for Schwede66, so I left an edit summary too. Thanks for your consideration. C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 03:43, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) I can access the colorstv source and confirm that it mentions Gautam Vig's date of birth. – DreamRimmer (talk) 12:18, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
That's good to know, because I have the same problem that Vanderwaalforces talks about. I will have to get back to this item. Schwede66 07:44, 10 February 2025 (UTC)
@Schwede66 Hi, did you manage to finish this review? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 18:49, 10 March 2025 (UTC)
Nope, and I'm a bit snowed under with preparing for a talk. And then I'll have visitors for three days. So it'll be Tuesday next week or so before I have a good chunk of time available. If anyone else would like to look at this in the meantime, please feel free. Schwede66 09:12, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Not done. I'm declining this for no other reason than that the user does not add categories or create talk pages. This is fairly trivial compared to writing the article in the first place and easily rectified, but the articles won't be found by patrollers if they're autopatrolled. /i'd be happy to grant this if the user makes it a habit to add categories and create talk pages. Courtesy ping for MaplesyrupSushi. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:32, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

I have created 65 articles which are live, I understand the Wikipedia notability and other standards. I do create the articles of great quality. Hence request you to kindly grant the autopatrolled right, as the articles which I have been created are in pending for review state from long time, which demotivates me from creating new articles. Now a days, I'm mostly creating articles on Indian Villages. I have an experience of 11 years in Wikipedia, My articles are featured in DYK and ITN section of Wikipedia main page. Thanks in Advance. —Naveen N Kadalaveni (talk) 17:25, 4 March 2025 (UTC)

Not done. A lot of your articles are quite short and either contain unsourced text or rely heavily on primary sources. That might be because that's all you have to work with when it comes to Indian villages which is understandable. You also seem to have only recently returned to writing articles after a few months' break. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:50, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Oh Okay! No issues, Anyways Thanks for your time and valuable feedback. --Naveen N Kadalaveni (talk) 09:32, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

36hourblock has created 106 articles in mainspace, none of which have been deleted. I have marked several of 36hourblock 's articles as reviewed through NPP; initially, I noticed some issues with NPOV, but since I discussed this issue with them, the creations have been more neutral in tone. I would grant AP personally, but I would like a second opinion. Please ping me if you find any issues. Thank you! I'm a bit of two minds for this user. Skimming through their talk page shows their creation 2025 Fullerton plane crash was deleted at AfD in January, as well as a few others from last year, and some others such as Multiple breadbasket failure have had cleanup tags on them for months. I don't know, however, if that outweighs the really good work the majority of their other creations represent. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 23:02, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello! A am Olesya. I created my account on June 8, 2023 and I have 664 edits. I have more than 25 new articles, written by me. I like to study Wikipedia, write new articles, and edit articles according to the rules. My favorite topics are persons and companies. I would like to get Autopatrolled status to be more useful for English Wikipedia. Thank you! Olesya Drotsulova (talk) 15:23, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Not done. No disrespect but ~700 edits is not enough experience for this permission. It's worth noting that it wouldn't have any effect on you anyway; it just helps patrollers. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:17, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for your attention! I will continue to make edits and create high-quality articles for the development of Wikipedia. Olesya Drotsulova (talk) 09:27, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
May I know how many edits it is advisable to make to get Autopatrolled rights? And is it possible to try again after some time?
I noticed that the Wikipedians here come with a lot of articles and experience, and I have something to strive for now. Olesya Drotsulova (talk) 09:40, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) @Olesya Drotsulova create fine articles, when the articles you create are so neat and fine such that patrollers do almost nothing to them whenever they come across them, at that point, patrollers do not need to stress themselves reviewing your creations, because they know you will continue to create fine articles. So, from notability guidelines, biography of living persons policy, to citing sources (independent and reliable ones, by the way), you should have them in your mind. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 11:04, 31 March 2025 (UTC)

I generally create articles similar to template-style articles, so I create a larger amount on elections and football tournaments. I always make sure to add categories and especially WikiProjects. I have not noticed reviewers needing to make changes to any of my articles within the last 6 months at least- from what I remember. The most recent deleted article I have was an uncontested PROD, which explained the issue to me clearly, and I will not make it again. Very few of my articles have had problems, with that being the only major one of the last fifty as I am aware. Any articles that I create that would not meet the WP:GNG "presumed" guideline, I try to have at least ten sources before considering publishing the article. Page mover

[edit]

I'm an experienced editor with years of history on Wikipedia and I've recently been getting more into page moving (mostly to fix disambiguation-related issues). The issue is that increasingly I see that a redirect already exists at the intended destination, so it would be very helpful for me to have the page mover permission so I can resolve these issues efficiently. I have moved over 500 pages so far and have initiated several requested moves as well. I don't intend to engage in any controversial moves and if any of mine are contested I'll immediately revert and go to RM.

Thanks, Habst (talk) 18:11, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer

[edit]

I've been editing for a long time and understand Wikipedia's policies and goals. I especially like to help out at pages which have a lot of enthusiastic edits by knowledgeable people who might not understand Wikipedia's format and goals, making them perfect candidates for pending changes protection.

I think pending changes reviewer rights would be the perfect way to help separate the wheat from the chaff and help our newest editors participate and make a difference while maintaining our high standards. Bruhpedia (talk) 20:52, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Rollback

[edit]

I'm requesting rollback rights to enhance my ability to fight vandalism. I Would like to try out AntiVandal tool. I'm a Mobile user, so Rollback will be very useful for me. I'm active in recent changes, pending changes, and new pages patrol, and I understand rollback is for clear vandalism cases. I'll use it responsibly. Here is my Undo/Revert History : [3]

I'm requesting rollback rights to speed up my fight against vandalism. I have about 1,000 edits involving reverting vandalism. I'm also interested in tools such as AntiVandal. TheM1sty (talk) 17:49, 17 March 2025 (UTC)

I have taken up patrolling recent changes and clear vandalism prevension / sourceless BLP-edits in en-wiki too. I have enough experience of the tool through fi-wiki, where I am a rollbacker, pending changes reviewer and ”page stabilzer” (I think the group closest to it here was called editor?). I know I have under 200 edits too now, but my interest at the time here is vandalism prevention which is hard and takes multiple edits (causes spam in recent changes) without rollback-tool. I would ask for sysops to look at my well trusted global status and experience. Thank you! Osmo Lundell (talk) 20:33, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

@Osmo Lundell: Twinkle's red "vandalism" button should revert consecutive edits by the same user in the same way that rollback does. It appears when you view the diff (noting that you have Twinkle enabled). Have you tried doing that? – JensonSL (SilverLocust) 04:56, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Hey! Thanks for metting me know, I thought that using that button would need the rollback user group. Good to know if it works just like that for everyone! I would still leave my request pending, because rollback is still useful from the recent changes view etc. --Osmo Lundell hey 07:34, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi. Last month, I request for become a rollbacker but unfortunately is unsuccessful. For this month, I do some rollback thing and start using WP:Twinkle to make sure the page is not going vandalism by some immoral user. I hope I can become rollbacker because I want to make sure the rule of Wikipedia is no broke by any immoral user. And another reason is if I become rollbacker, I will protect the whole page everytime. MAS0802 12:03, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello MAS0802, I'm not sure if this is a good idea. There are noticeable language issues in your request. You're applying for a permission that makes it easier to revert others' contributions to an English encyclopedia, and you'll likely encounter situations where an unregistered editor makes grammatical changes. You currently probably wouldn't be able to say if these are correct or incorrect. You'll also be asked to explain reverts to confused users, and you'll need to understand their questions and should be able to explain in correct English why their contribution had to be undone. I'm not a native speaker either and this answer will contain some errors, but the difference in English proficiency is strong enough to make me avoid granting the permission at this time. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 00:57, 31 March 2025 (UTC)

I've been patrolling RC since 26 February 2025 and have made 776 mainspace edits. I'd like to use Rollback to make counter-vandalism easier, and I'm curious about both AntiVandal and Huggle.

Disclaimers: I've made a couple (three, I think?) accidental reversions with Twinkle. I've also received a few talk page warnings. Anerdw (talk) 08:41, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

I would like rollbacker rights to help remove vandalism, and to try out AV. I have around 500 edits in mainspace and have patrolled RC since late February. Toast1454TC 14:07, 28 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I am requesting rollback rights to help combat vandalism and disruptive edits more effectively. I have been patrolling recent changes for the past 30 days, focusing on identifying and reverting vandalism, test edits, and other unconstructive changes. I am familiar with Wikipedia’s policies, including WP:VANDALISM, WP:BLP, and WP:NPOV.

I really wanted to improve Wikipedia by my small contribution. I understand the importance of using rollback responsibly. This permission would allow me to respond more efficiently to inappropriate edits.

I want to also say that I made some silly mistakes in the starting of my patrolling. However, I learnt from them and make sure that they won't happen again. Such as reverting edits that are already reverted, that mistakes you can see on my past contributions.

Thank you for considering my request. Please let me know if any additional information is needed. VortexPhantom Talk 07:35, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

I am requesting rollback rights to improve my patrolling workflow

Currently, I use Ultraviolet with pseudo-rollback. I want to try new software like AV and/or HUGGLE, to see what fits me best. I have been RCP patrolling for more than a month and currently I am in the CVUA, which is improving my knowledge and helps me educate others. With rollback, I will be able to counter vandalism, BLP, edit test and other unconstructive edits with splendor speed, without affecting my accuracy. twisted. I am requesting rollback rights to efficiently combat vandalism, particularly from anonymous IP editors who have been repeatedly disrupting multiple pages. Their edits often include unconstructive changes, misinformation, and page blanking, requiring frequent reversion. Having rollback rights would allow me to quickly and accurately revert these edits, ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia content. Vineyard93 (talk) 02:26, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) Hello, Vineyard93. I don't see anything when you're undoing your edits. You have been warned on the user talk page at least with a level 3 warning and blanking the user talk page. What is used for rollback? Best regards, –HirowoWiki (📝) 23:50, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Template editor

[edit]

The main reason why I would like to request the template editor right is so that I may be able to edit protected modules and templates such as Module:Gridiron color/data & Module:College color/data. I would like to contribute better to protected modules and templates, and be able to answer template-protected and module-protected edit requests. I understand completely that possessing the template editor right is a privilege and can be revoked at any time if I fail to abide by the rules and guidelines set forth for having the right granted to me. I also realize that sandboxes (such as Module:Gridiron color/sandbox, for example) exist so that I do not continually make disruptive edits to live modules and templates. Furthermore, I am acutely aware that I should never try to force through changes to protected modules and templates that go against a clearly established consensus. Lastly, I am aware that, should I be re-granted the template editor right, and I fail to abide by the guidelines, that I may be subjected to being blocked from editing. This permission has been revoked twice for cause, so I'm inclined to decline. Plus, it's not enough to "never try to force through changes to protected modules and templates that go against a clearly established consensus". Rather, this permission shouldn't be used to make changes that are potentially controversial (or that anyone has objected to) unless you establish a consensus for the change. Pinging the revoking admin, @Hey man im josh, in case he would like to weigh in. - JensonSL (SilverLocust) 04:17, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
OK. What would I need to do to persuade you to reconsider? What is enough? How can I demonstrate that I have a need to have the template editor right again? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 04:25, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Having looked through User talk:CharlesEditor23#NFL Template Borders, I would not support giving this permission — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:42, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
How I can persuade you to reconsider? What must I do to demonstrate to you that I've changed and that I won't simply revert to my past poor editing behavior? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 02:07, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
  •  Not done, agree with the above, the concerns are fundamental to the trust TE places on individuals. Please use the existing edit-request procedures to contribute to TE protected templates for the time-being. Sohom (talk) 15:27, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
OK. Is that permanent then or can I re-apply for the template editor right sometime in the future? What do I need to do to re-gain the trust of all editors who have commented on my request? I know I've had issues, but I'm really trying to improve. What can I do to regain trust? I understand that the reason why there's hesitancy to re-grant me the template editor right is because you're all worried I'm going to revert to my past poor editing behavior. How can I demonstrate that I've changed? How can I demonstrate to you all that I'm responsible enough to be trusted with it again? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 02:06, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
Re-applications are allowed. But it will likely take a very long time to rebuild enough trust to overcome two for-cause revocations. –Novem Linguae (talk) 05:38, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
At a minimum I'd suggest that you'd discount all counters prior to the last revocation, and not apply again until you meet the granting guidelines anew. — xaosflux Talk 09:15, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
So I have to wait another year to apply again? Is that what you're saying? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 19:56, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
There are no rules that I know of about how long to wait between re-applications. You should use your best judgment. However due to your unique situation, I think you should wait longer than normal. –Novem Linguae (talk) 22:20, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
So how long should that be? What do I need to do to get back the WP:TPE right? CharlesEditor23 (talk) 22:22, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
CharlesEditor23, your question appears to imply two things that both do not have to be true:
    • That it would be a huge issue if you didn't regain the permission.
    • That there is a way for you to regain the permission.
