Elisa Torres Durney

Hello, Several months ago (in April 2025), I disclosed a possible conflict of interest on the article Elisa Torres Durney, as I am her father. I also clarified that there was no paid editing involved, and I respectfully requested that experienced editors help review the article to ensure it complies with Wikipedia’s content policies, especially neutrality and sourcing. At the time, someone replied “Currently being reviewed,” but since then, the “paid contributions” and COI warning templates are still present, and no major changes have been made. I'd like to kindly follow up and ask:
- Is the current tag still appropriate?
- Could a neutral editor take a look at the article and recommend or make changes if needed?
- Is there anything else I should do to help resolve this properly?
I'm happy to stay completely hands-off if it's better that way, and I’m simply hoping to ensure that the article reflects Wikipedia’s standards. Thank you so much for your time and support. 2803:C600:5112:EC2A:59E5:2406:14DD:D7B (talk) 03:08, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- First of all, thank you for disclosing your conflict of interest and being transparent! I'll give the article a look-over myself right now. If you aren't being paid, then I'm not sure why that template is up there. It's probably a case of simple miscommunication. Professor Penguino (talk) 04:26, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- The article was created by User:XMANClass, a confirmed and indefinitely blocked sockpuppet master. The accusation is not against the father of the subject. If there was no paid editing involved, what motivated this unethical person to write that article? Cullen328 (talk) 06:34, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, but some explanation may help a reader unfamiliar with the murkier aspects of Wikipedia. A "sockpuppet" is an alternative username, often one illicitly used in the place of a "blocked" username. The "sockpuppet master" is the earliest or most active among two or more sockpuppets (in many cases, many more than two). "Blocked" means 'prevented from editing'. "Indefinitely blocked" means 'blocked until an appeal is successful'. A "confirmed" sockpuppet is one for whose sockpuppetry there is irrefutable evidence (e.g. use of the same IP number). -- Hoary (talk) 08:01, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Propose new article for West African Citizens Awards (WAFRICAwards)
As the founder of the West African Citizens Awards (WAFRICAwards), I am disclosing my conflict of interest per WP:COI and propose creating a dedicated Wikipedia article for the WAFRICAwards to document its role in recognizing West African talent in media, entertainment, and entrepreneurship. The awards, active since at least 2016, featured 58 categories in 2019 (e.g., Most Popular Blog, Best Comedian) and have announced a 2025 “Rebirth Edition” with 60 categories, including Best Artist and Pageant Queen, in partnership with organizations like OGUNCCIMA and WAEC. Primary sources include the official website [1] and X posts by @wafricawards . To meet WP:NOTABILITY, I suggest sourcing secondary coverage from regional news outlets like The Guardian Nigeria, Vanguard, or Music In Africa, which cover similar events (e.g., African Entertainment Awards USA [2]). Can editors help identify news articles or press releases about the WAFRICAwards to establish notability? Should the article include sections on history, categories, partnerships, and impact? Wafricawards (talk) 08:25, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, @Wafricawards, and welcome to the Teahouse. I see you have been blocked, but that is just because your user name is not acceptable - once you have changed it you should be able to get unblocked.
- Appeals like this for people to find references for you are very rarely successful, I'm afraid. It's not impossible that somebody will see your appeal and think, yes, I'd loke to look for suitable references; but it doesn't often happen, as we are all volunteers, who work on what we want to work on. It is possible (no more than that) that you might have better luck if you post at WT:WikiProject Africa - that project is said to be semi-active, but there are probably people who monitor the talk page.
- Note that press releases, like articles based on interviews, are of no value for establishing notability: Wikipedia has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is almost exclusively interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. If enough material is cited from independent sources to establish notability, a limited amount of uncontroversial factual information may be added from non-independent sources.
- My earnest advice to new editors is to not even think about trying to create an article until you have spent several weeks - at least - learning about how Wikipedia works by making improvements to existing articles. Once you have understood core policies such as verifiability, neutral point of view, reliable, independent sources, and notability, and experienced how we handle disagreements with other editors (the Bold, Revert, Discuss cycle), then you might be ready to read your first article carefully, and try creating a draft. If you don't follow this advice but try to create an article without this preparation, you are likely to have a frustrating and disappointing experience with Wikipedia. ColinFine (talk) 13:04, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- One further remark, @Wafricawards: now that you have posted your request here, it is quite possible that somebody will contact you offering to create the article for payment. Do not pay them - they are almost certainly scamming: see WP:SCAM. ColinFine (talk) 13:06, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
Doubt about the contents I can add.
I have thinking that Wikipedia supports myth related contents . But when I edited that Kuttichathan page, I only (I think so) added the name Vishnumaya . Then how It violates the policy of Wikipedia . Also as expert Wikipedians , I am requesting to all of you for a clarification in the Encyclopedia's policy . If anyone tell me , that'll be very help full for me for further edits . SrieK (talk) 15:56, 22 July 2025 (UTC)

- Not providing a source means ? I didn't understood it completely . SrieK (talk) 12:51, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- SrieK, acceptable content on Wikipedia summarizes what reliable, published sources say about a topic. And then we provide a reference, also called a citation, to that source, so that a reader can go to that source and verify the accuracy of the content. Verifiability is the relevant core content policy. Compliance with that policy is mandatory and non-negotiable. Cullen328 (talk) 15:55, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

How could I go about getting a non-biased article created for a company?
Can you help me figure out how to build a wikipedia page that is for a company but just informational? not at all an endorsement or ad. Killianoellis (talk) 19:28, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello. There is no distinction between "informational" and "promotional" here. Wikipedia is not for merely providing information. A Wikipedia article about a company must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the company(not based on materials from the company or routine activities) showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company.
- I get the sense that you are asking about your employer. If so, please see WP:PAID. 331dot (talk) 20:31, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
Edit submit declined
Hello, supposed to be I need to add a missing thread from WP:ANI to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1195 because the Archiver gadget unexpectedly failed, but the submit of my edit was declined because it contains a new external link to a site registered on Wikipedia's blacklist. The following domain is blocked from being added: packersproshop.us.com, training.uk.net and e2bet.limited. Please help, what should I do? Fabvill (Talk to me!) 04:45, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, Fabvill. Why would you link to commecial websites like that on an encyclopedia? Cullen328 (talk) 05:41, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Cullen328, No, Robby.is.on reported this to WP:ANI by adding commercial websites like that for adding spam links through seemingly innocuous edits in which they edit existing references, such as adding translation of the article titles. Fabvill (Talk to me!) 05:45, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Cullen328 I need to link to commercial websites like that on an encyclopedia because my Archiver failed unsuccessfully due to an unknown reason. Fabvill (Talk to me!) 05:48, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Tracie Eaton page creation
This was my first attempt and to be honest am struggling. She is an award winning artist in Australia. Can someone help me? I submitted the following wording and photos.
- [ Proposed article conetnt nmow at Draft:Tracie Eaton ]
MichelleChristoe (talk) 01:47, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- If, MichelleChristoe, you believe that there should be an article on Tracie Eaton (and that she is notable, as understood here), then copy what you've written, click on Draft:Tracie Eaton, paste it in, and click on "Publish" (which just means "save"). Then start on the considerable task of making this draft comply with Wikipedia standards. That done (to the best of your knowledge and ability), submit it for consideration for promotion to article status. -- Hoary (talk) 02:20, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
Reference list order
- References list displaying in definition order, not usage order (jumbled), despite correct wikitext and cache clears
Hello Teahouse,
I am experiencing a very persistent and unusual issue with the references section on an article I am working on: Nuclear War: A Scenario.
Instead of displaying as a properly sorted, sequential list (e.g., [1], [2], [3]...), the references list currently appears as a jumbled string of numbers right under the ==References==
heading. For example, it looks something like: [16][11][24][6][17][20][10][27][4][19][18][25][12][7][2][1][3][8][13][14][15][22][26][9][5][23][21]
. It is now on a single line (it was previously in a column, but I removed extraneous newlines).
I have diligently troubleshooting this issue and here's what has been done:
- The article's wikitext has been thoroughly reviewed multiple times by an AI assistant for syntax errors related to references (e.g., malformed
{{r|...}}
invocations, missing</ref>
tags, duplicate{{reflist}}
templates, issues withat=
parameters, etc.). All reference syntax and the{{reflist}}
template itself appear to be correct and standard. - All
<ref name="X">...</ref>
definitions are located correctly within the==References==
section before the{{reflist}}
template. - The numbers appearing in the jumbled list (
[16]
,[11]
,[24]
, etc.) correspond precisely to the order in which the<ref name="...">
tags are defined in the==References==
section of the wikitext, not the order in which they are first used in the article's main body (which is the default expected behavior of{{reflist}}
). - I have performed multiple, aggressive cache clears, including my browser's cache (cookies, cached images and files), and using the
?action=purge
command on Wikipedia. - The issue persists across different web browsers (e.g., Chrome, Safari), indicating it is not a local browser problem.
- I have also meticulously checked the wikitext around the
==References==
heading and the{{reflist}}
tag for any invisible characters or extraneous markup (like stray<br>
tags or unusual newlines), and any found were removed, which improved the display from a column to a single line, but did not resolve the jumbled sorting.
Given that all standard troubleshooting steps for wikitext and caching have been exhausted, it seems this might be a persistent server-side caching issue or a rare parsing glitch affecting this specific page.
Could an experienced editor or technical staff member please advise or investigate further?
Thank you for your time and help. Alex Zivoder (talk) 17:50, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- The second bullet point is incorrect:
<ref>...</ref>
tags should be placed in the article's body, after the claims that they support, not in the References section before the {{reflist}} template. I think you may have been misinformed by an AI; they have a tendency to hallucinate. jlwoodwa (talk) 18:29, 26 July 2025 (UTC) - I checked the article, and I think you are trying to use list-defined references. Please follow that link to learn about them, rather than trusting an AI to understand it correctly. jlwoodwa (talk) 18:33, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, Alex Zivoder. I have been editing for 16 years, have written over 100 new articles, and I have always used the inline referencing technique. Using that most common method, the wiki code for the reference section is empty except for a Template:Reflist. The coding for each reference is at the appropriate place in the body of the article, and the mediawiki software automatically displays and arranges everything neatly. Cullen328 (talk) 18:44, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- As stated above, there shouldn't be any references in the references section. However, you have defined all the named references in that section, so they cannot simply be deleted, (I tried that see the page history) whilst most of them don't need to be named references as you have only used them once. If you replace one of the uses (ideally the first) of each named reference in the article with the corresponding reference you have added in the references section, you can then delete them from the References section and all should be back to normal. - Arjayay (talk) 19:26, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

- Thank you. I've followed your suggestion and reverted to inline, which eliminated the unwanted row below References. But the problem I wanted to solve was still there: how do I reference different time stamps for the same episode of a podcast? My solution: 1) do not put any timestamp in the description of the
{{Cite episode}}
template, 2) use{{rp}}
right after the first occurence of the episode, 3) use{{r|...}}
from the second occurence onwards. Alex Zivoder (talk) 21:46, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Question about citations & factual verifications
Hi there, I have a question about Wikipedia guidelines concerning citations and factual verifications.
When you see a footnote at the end of a sentence, is the idea that the information in that sentence is "verified" by that single source? Is it possible that sources cited elsewhere in the article could contribute to the "verification" even if they're not specifically cited as an end-of-sentence footnote? For instance, I see that some articles have separate Works cited, Further reading, and External links sections that don't always align with the footnotes. Is it possible that information in a particular sentence could be drawn from these sources and not the specifically cited one?
Likewise, is it possible that an editor can draw from their own expertise or subject-matter authority in order to "read between the lines" and make certain inferences from the cited sources, even if those claims aren't explicitly stated in the source material?
Basically I'm trying to get a better understanding of how sourcing works on Wikipedia. Any information and guidance that editors can provide would be appreciated. JJ for Arabella (talk) 17:12, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- @JJ for Arabella One obvious thing to say is that a single source can verify several parts of an article. If so, the named references facility allows it to be repeated, which is good practice. One can also use the {{rp}} template to cite a book once and then use that reference to indicate which pages are relevant to a particular sentence/paragraph. More at WP:CITE. Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:27, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response, Mike Turnbull. I'm thinking of a scenario where a sentence says something like "A spider has eight legs", and then the cited source is an article about elephants that doesn't mention spiders at all. Could that be an instance of an editor using their own expertise to "read between the lines" or make inferences that aren't explicitly stated? Could a citation like that be an indication of generative AI usage in your experience? JJ for Arabella (talk) 20:37, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, JJ for Arabella. Citing an irrelevant article about elephants in a Wikipedia article about spiders is a violation of the core content policy Verifiability. It is also dishonest, and dishonesty is a type of disruptive editing, and therefore a violation of a behavioral guideline. An editor
using their own expertise to "read between the lines" or make inferences that aren't explicitly stated
is also a violation of another core content policy, No original research. To be crystal clear, the main role of a Wikipedia editor is to accurately summarize what the range of reliable, independent sources say about a topic, and to cite those sources as references. Editors are forbidden by policy from adding their own interpretations, no matter what "expertise" they may claim concerning that topic. Cullen328 (talk) 00:54, 24 July 2025 (UTC)- As for use of AI, it is commonplace for such "intelligent" tools to hallucinate references. Any human editor who allows such AI tools to run amok is at high risk of being blocked. Cullen328 (talk) 00:58, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- But yes, JJ for Arabella is right - a totally unrelated reference coud well be a hallucinated one and is a red flag for LLM use or other unscrupulous editing. It's pretty easy to make something that looks like a link to a journal article with a random DOI or PMID or similar and the link will go somewhere - almost certainly somewhere unrelated. -- D'n'B-📞 -- 05:05, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for the additional information, Cullen328 and D'n'B. I do have examples of this type of dubious citation in mind, but I want to do some additional research to confirm that I'm correct before sounding the alarm. Is an article's talk page the best place to flag citation issues? Could I tag one or both of you in the post? JJ for Arabella (talk) 15:54, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- JJ for Arabella, you can tag or ping me anywhere you think I might have something useful to offer. Yes, the article talk page is the best place to start. Cullen328 (talk) 16:13, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

cultural preference to avoid media & limited coverage
hi there! I am trying to create more visibility for brilliant Irish entrepreneurs & philanthropists who have a profile in ireland, but wouldn't have a lot of media exposure as they would shy away from such a spotlight & or there wouldn't be the local market viewships to warrant such specific interviews. As such, there isn't significant coverage on these men and women, but if you are from Ireland, you would know them and their reputation and great work behind the scenes. How can I bring credit to their work if the 2 main Irish new publications don't qualify as 'significant coverage in reliable, independent, published secondary sources'? Ireland1983 (talk) 00:50, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

Apologies, I didn't mean to call them 'new' - they are longstanding Irish broadsheets. Should I just references as many of the articles as I can find from these 2? There are maybe 5 different articles in the independent & another 5 in the Times - but they focus on money which feels crass & a disservice to the profile. - Ireland1983, I am sitting here in California thinking that these new sources that you mentioned must be some obscure online publications founded recently and without a reputation for reliability. It turns out that the first has been published since 1859 and the second since 1905. Both have solid reputations and this American editor is familiar with both. Do not conclude that these are the only sources you can use. There are many reliable sources published in Ireland. - In light of what you've written here and on your Talk Page, I was expecting to find your sources to be to entirely unverifiable pages, or simply fictitious. However, as the AfC reviewer noted, "the references I checked are all valid" (though sources 1 & 2 of you draft link to the same page, just with different dates – but that is minor, and straightforward to fix). Note: what is written above the AfC reviewer's comments is template text. While it is still important to read and take on-board, it should be done in the context of what the reviewer has actually said.
- Given that, I would think that your efforts would perhaps be better focused on the rest of what the reviewer noted. I agree with them that it is highly likely that an LLM has been used (both here and in the draft). Remember that you are ultimately responsible for any and all content you publish here. If you are using an LLM, you must verify everything it has written – including grammar & formatting (though, in honesty, you are going to have a much better time here if you do not use LLMs for writing content). For example, the lead section of your draft is a poorly-formatted run-on sentence – it'd be fine for chats & comments; less so for arguably the most important section of an encyclopaedic article.

eligibility of my article
Hi!
I propose to write an article on “gyral Rossby waves (GRWs)”. It would complement the article on equatorial Rossby waves https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equatorial_Rossby_wave (main article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rossby_wave). But the problem is that the only articles entirely devoted to these Rossby waves are mine, exclusively: https://www.mdpi.com/2077-1312/10/4/493, https://www.mdpi.com/2077-1312/6/4/146, https://www.mdpi.com/2077-1312/6/3/107. Several years have passed between the publication of these articles, some of which contain more than thirty citations.
Articles written by other authors that discuss GRWs are not focused on this new concept exclusively (for example: https://www.mdpi.com/2077-1312/13/6/1187).
Could such an article be eligible for Wikipedia?

- @Jean-Louis Pinault An alternative is to add a small section to the existing article at Rossby wave, which will then be visible to the >100 editors watching that page. "When will I be Famous "
Subject: Seeking Support as a New Contributor
Dear team, I hope this message finds you all in great spirits. As a passionate new editor who has made over 200 contributions, I am truly enjoying my journey on Wikipedia. The thrill of creating pages, sharing knowledge, and learning the ropes has been incredibly fulfilling. However, I have encountered a challenging situation with User:ResolutionsPerMinute. They have acknowledged that their approach has been somewhat aggressive and unconstructive. Recently, I contributed sourced material to the page "When Will I Be Famous" by the iconic 80s pop band Bros, diligently adhering to all guidelines and providing credible sources from magazines and articles. Despite my efforts to enrich the content, my contributions have been reverted without constructive feedback. Instead, I received responses that felt dismissive and belittling. As a newcomer, I am eager to learn and grow, but I am concerned about the possibility of being blocked or entering into an edit war. I would deeply appreciate any guidance, support, or encouragement you could offer to help me feel valued and empowered as I navigate this platform. Thank you for taking the time to consider my request. I believe that with your support, I can continue to make meaningful contributions to our community. Warm regards,= Lucygeejones8 (talk) 15:26, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Lucygeejones8 Judging by your additions you are, unfortunately, insisting on a version where the content you add may be Ok but the referencing certainly isn't. For example, you have uploaded two images which are almost certainly copyright violations and quoted a book by its ISBN but without using the usual formatting of {{cite book}}, including details such as the author. Please read WP:CITE and, I suggest, WP:SELFREVERT your latest edit before adding the material correctly if you can. Your mentor should be able to help with the details, or you can ask here. - Dear Member,
- I appreciate your prompt response regarding the images and uploads in question. I would like to clarify that these materials do not infringe upon copyright laws as they fall under the provisions of fair use. As a student of Intellectual Property specializing in copyright law, I would like to emphasize that, in the United Kingdom, fair use is articulated as "fair dealing." This principle permits certain uses of copyrighted materials without the need for permission from the copyright owner, provided that such uses are deemed fair. The following are key points to consider: 1. **Quotations**: Quotations from a work may be utilized as long as they are fair and appropriately acknowledged, typically through the inclusion of the title and the author's name. 2. **Exceptions**: Fair dealing is applicable to contexts such as criticism, review, reporting on current events, and educational endeavors. 3. **Conditions**: The utilization of the material must indeed be fair, ensuring that it does not adversely affect the market value of the original work. For further guidance, I recommend consulting official resources regarding copyright exceptions. Thus, the images may indeed be used for referencing purposes. I intend to conduct additional research on citation practices, including the use of Wikipedia and relevant academic literature, while also seeking further guidance from my mentor. Thank you once again for your response, and I shall strive to provide comprehensive information regarding my citations. Lucygeejones8 (talk) 17:09, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- I am not a copyright expert, but I don't believe that publishing an exact photocopy of a copyrighted work meets the fair use conditions. However, that is really irrelevant; the main issue is that uploading a copy of a source is not the right way to cite a source here on Wikipedia. I would repeat @Michael D. Turnbull's suggestion to read WP:CITE to understand how to properly cite a source. CodeTalker (talk) 17:19, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Regarding fair use on Wikipedia, one resource that might be helpful is WP:non-free content. In addition to qualifying for fair use, you must also demonstrate a need for the material and that there's no suitable free material replacement. If you have any further questions about the policy please reply here. Thanks — 🪫Volatile 📲T | ⌨️C 19:15, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

. I learned a simple lesson when I was a new editor about 16 years ago and I reverted another editor twice. An administrator told me not to edit war or I might get blocked. All it took was that one gentle comment and I have never once engaged in any edit warring. It is really quite simple. If you do not edit war, you do not need to worry about getting blocked for edit warring. Use legitimate forms of dispute resolution instead. Evidently before actually checking that the context was not that of a newcomer making understandable mistakes with enwiki's many policies, but rather someone's LLM usage dragging them well wide of even basic conversational relevancy.
- The more unfriendly thing to do is to let someone walk face-first into a brick wall when they're walking around with their eyes shut.

How to report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism
Hi! I don't know how to create reports at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Could someone help me with the process of reporting users? What are the steps? If anything mentions a user in this discussion, it is appropriate if we use User:Example as our example for tips please? Thank you Servite et contribuere (talk) 18:59, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Servite et contribuere. First of all, do you use Twinkle (I assume the other automated programmes like Huggle have the same?). If so, you can do it from the user contribution page of the user you want to report.
- If you prefer to do it manually, the template is at the top of the Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism noticeboard.
- Did you want advice on the warning templates etc? The process leading up to reporting? Knitsey (talk) 19:05, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Knitsey If it is manually do I have to edit? I don't know what buttons. Also Do I do Twinkle report from the User I am reporting or from the WAIAV itself? Servite et contribuere (talk) 19:46, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- You would go to the user page of the editor who us vandalising. Top right (desktop version) there is a drop down menue, TW. From there, select ARV. this brings up the 'Advanced Reporting and Vetting' screen. Fill in the relevant details. You can also switch to reporting a user name violation via the drop down menue at the top of that screen (it automatically brings up AIV). You can also report sock puppets/puppeteers and edit warring via that template. Knitsey (talk) 19:52, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Servite et contribuere to do it manually, go to AIV, copy the template at the top of the board and fill in the details, remembering to adjust for ip or named user. You would add the details via an edit. Before Twinkle, I learnt to copy my edit before publishing, just in case of edit conflicts. Knitsey (talk) 19:59, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Knitsey I think I have figured it out mostly. Servite et contribuere (talk) 20:04, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Servite et contribuere if you have any problems, then you are welcome to ask at my talk page. I'm not an expert but should be able to help with vandalism edits. Just be aware, if you deal with a lot of vandalism you will at some point end up with abuse on your talk page. This is easily reverted and if necessary, deleted so I wouldn't let it put you off. My article is rejected due to insufficient published sources
Hi I'm just curious how a listed company on two public listed board (SGX and HKE) with 38 years of history can end up rejected as not having enough published sources. Could someone help to suggest constructive corrections so that we can get this up to standard. ISDN Holdings Limited. Thanks in advance! Razorzedge (talk) 07:21, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Razorzedge, it's not the number of sources that matters, but how in-depth they are. More info at WP:ORGTRIV. -- asilvering (talk) 08:22, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Draft:ISDN Holdings has been declined. Not because the company doesn't have enough published sources, but because the draft about it doesn't have enough published, reliable sources, independent of the company and of each other, that describe or discuss the company in depth. To which I might add, Razorzedge, that the draft currently reads as if it was produced by the company itself. Please respond promptly to the request posted at User talk:Razorzedge#July_2025. -- Hoary (talk) 08:27, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks Hoary, I do appreciate your feedback but it still doesn't seem to warrant the draft status. The sources are varied from patents, to listings on two stock exchanges, it's even publicly traded up till today featured by prestigious investment articles like the Edge Singapore, The Business Times and even Jakarta Post. Saying that there is even company references like AVEVA a $6.32 billion USD company. Rightful declarations have also been made. I do hope it clarifies. Razorzedge (talk) 13:27, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Razorzedge: resubmitting a declined draft without any attempt to address the decline reasons is not only utterly pointless, it's also pretty discourteous, and it merely serves to move your draft one step closer to outright rejection without the option to resubmit. I've done you the favour of undoing your resubmission, so you can work on your draft further. --DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:38, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Razorzedge Your current draft reads much like the company's own website would do, with little more than a product listing and other WP:RUNOFTHEMILL stuff, which indeed has been cited in the main only to the company itself. In addition, the use of bold text does not conform to Wikipedia's manual of style: MOS:BOLD. An encyclopedia article needs secondary sources (so not patents) with some evidence that independent commentary has been made, perhaps about the actual use of the products, as distinct from people involved in selling its shares. This is summarised at WP:NCORP. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:21, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- My apologies if it sounded discourteous it wasn't my intention. Just finding it hard to understand the how to navigate this so that people get access to the right kind of information. The company has done quite alot of innovations in the space of operational technology (OT) and in itself operational technology has very little mention in the space of informational technology (IT) shouldn't it be of wiki's interest and it's editors to start talking about companies making headwind in these areas. Like navigating the SCADA areas of OT, it's software and its interface with robotics? Just my thoughts but that's exactly what an encyclopedia needs. Alternative or additional perspectives on lesser known spaces. And that's my intent. Again my apologies if it went the wrong way. Razorzedge (talk) 03:32, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, @Razorzedge. Please note that Wikipedia has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is almost exclusively interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. If enough material is cited from independent sources to establish notability, a limited amount of uncontroversial factual information may be added from non-independent sources. improve and expand wikipedia article "Dennō Senshi Porygon"
Courtesy link: Dennō Senshi Porygon
i don't know how to properly describe this article, there isn't much info in this article (especially when compared to the corresponding article in japanese) and people use this wikipedia article for information about Dennō Senshi Porygon, hell, it even says "you can expand this article from the corresponding articles in japanese and vietnamese" at the top, that describes this article, it isn't bad, but it's lacking information 109.81.22.55 (talk) 16:46, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello. It may not have been your intention, but "improve and expand wikipedia article 'Dennō Senshi Porygon'" appears to be an imperative clause, used in order to direct the reader to improve and expand the article. But we readers aren't your wage-slaves (and most of us have other interests), so we're unlikely to comply. ¶ (You are making a lot of use of these imperative clauses; see here for example.) ¶ You say "i don't know how to properly describe this article, there isn't much info in this article". I'd be inclined to describe it as very prolix. However, this may result from my total lack of interest in Pokemon. If the article is deficient in some way, then (if you adhere to Wikipedia policies) you are free to correct the deficiency. ¶ If a discussion about how to improve the article could be beneficial, then Talk:Dennō Senshi Porygon is the obvious place to start it. It seems likely that you and 109.81.94.122 are the same person. You are not obliged to edit under a username (in the same way that, for example, I am editing as "Hoary"), but you may find that doing so makes it easier to communicate. -- Hoary (talk) 22:03, 24 July 2025 (UTC)

Help with removing banners
So I was doing some edits on the page for Olesya Hudyma and discovered that her biography was tagged as relying on primary sources. That is partially the case but upon further investigation I couldn't find any secondary or tertiary sources except for social media (Primary source) and shopping websites such as eBay (come on, pretty obvious we're not going to use shopping websites as sources). Furthermore, most sources had interviews with the artist, but the information actually put in the article was completely unrelated to the interview. Also, the entire article itself is further tagged as painting something in a positive light, I found a few cases of that and removed it. Any advise of next steps? - You had coding in place to suppress the proper function of the submission template; I have fixed this so you can now submit the draft for review. I would not do so yet, though, because it would be declined quickly- it reads like a brochure for prospective students, telling about the university and its offerings. Instead, any article about the university should summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about it, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization.
- If you are associated with this university, that must be disclosed, see WP:COI and WP:PAID (if you are an employee of the university). I see that you took a picture of the Vice Chancellor where he posed for you. 331dot (talk) 07:56, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Draft Review Template Still On After 12 Hours
Hello all,
As you can see from the title, my draft said that it is still under review after 12 hours, where it said to ask the Teahouse thereafter. I noticed that the article it would be replacing, which is currently a redirect, is being requested for a speedy deletion, and that may be the reason for the long wait, but I still feel I should post this here. My reviewer is RangerRus. Thank you. SassafrassAlabass (talk) 15:31, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

Sockpuppet investigation against myself
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Hello. I have been blocked for vandalism on other accounts in the past; this account, which I have used constructively, is a sockpuppet. I reported myself at WP:SPI, but after seeing the backlog there, I'm wondering if there's a more appropriate place to report myself, since there is presumably no need for an actual investigation because of my confession? Luke10.27 (talk) 15:09, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
For the reference of readers here, this is what I posted at SPI: "I vandalized in the past using many accounts (Leformefoldef is far from the only one, but it is the only one whose username I remember; I do not think it was the last one) and was permanently blocked. I created this account intending to contribute constructively; I have not vandalized since creating this account, but I understand that I should have sought to be unblocked according to policy. I was wrong in creating another sockpuppet, and I am reporting myself so the community can take action as appropriate." Luke10.27 (talk) 15:24, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Have you seen WP:STANDARD? The exact letter of it disqualifies you due to the socking, but the principle is there. Instead of setting up sock accounts, why not make an unblock request from your main account? Valenciano (talk) 15:16, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you! Yes, I have seen that, but I felt that it would be dishonest to simply presume that it was okay to keep editing, rather than let the community know what happened. (I expect that I will most likely be blocked on this account, but I do hope to take the standard offer after six months have passed.) This is the only account I have access to anymore, as I no longer have the passwords to any blocked accounts. Luke10.27 (talk) 15:20, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Article assessment help
Hello, I am wondering on what steps I would need to take if I ever wanted to submit an article for Wikipedia's content assessment scale or importance scale. The article in question is Surface metrology if you were wondering (it isn't ready yet, this would be for the future). I was also wondering how I could see where it is categorized in Wikiproject engineering. Lastly I saw that there was a hidden category for this article: Category:Wikipedia articles needing clarification from August 2009, at what point can it be decided that it won't need clarification anymore? Aram Khachaturian (talk) 19:02, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- The latter is caused by an inline cleanup template, {{Cleanup}}; search for the string "clarification needed" on the page.
- There's a gadget called "Rater", that will give you hints for quality assessment. It suggests that the article is currently "C" class. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:11, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Draft getting rejected in review
Courtesy link: Draft:Instamart
Hi, my draft Instamart is getting rejected when I put in for review and below is the message i am getting even after making changes, Can someone help on what sources to put?
"This draft's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article. In summary, the draft needs multiple published sources that are:
- in-depth (not just brief mentions about the subject or routine announcements)
- reliable
- secondary
- strictly independent of the subject"
Adityasharma0701 (talk) 11:09, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome. I'm unclear as to what you are asking- as you seem to be answering your own question. 331dot (talk) 11:12, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- That text - and the pages it links to - explains exactly what sourced to use. If there are not any that meet those criteria, then the subject is not suitable for a Wikipedia article. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:13, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you both for your responses. I understand that the article requires multiple, in-depth, reliable, and independent secondary sources. And I believe I have mentioned in my draft as well!
- Could you kindly confirm if the following types of sources would be acceptable?
- Articles from The Economic Times, Business Standard, Mint, or Forbes India that discuss Instamart’s operations, market impact, or strategy in detail.
- Coverage by independent tech or retail analysts (e.g., Entrackr, TechCrunch, Inc42) that are not affiliated with Swiggy.
- Any independent case studies or academic publications about quick-commerce or Swiggy Instamart.
- Thanks again for the guidance — I’ll revise the draft with better-suited sources. Adityasharma0701 (talk) 11:29, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Please respond to the inquiry on your user talk page. 331dot (talk) 11:35, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

Why do non-logged-in users comment on ANI?
I was browsing WP:ANI and noticed there are a surprising number of users whose comments are just signed with an IP address. That seems really weird. What explains that? YarrowFlower (talk) 12:07, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Any editor, including IP editors, can share their opinions on WP:AN and WP:AN/I. Many IP editors are actually long-term participants who simply prefer operating as an IP rather than through an account. While Wikipedia encourages people creating an account, which affords them greater privacy, there is no requirement that an editor do so. Simonm223 (talk) 12:10, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- It has to do with Wikipedia's commitment to being an "encyclopedia that anyone can edit". TurboSuperA+(talk) 12:10, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Is my father eligible for an article
Hello! I would like to create a Wikipedia article about my father. He is a Hindi author who has:
- Published more than 20 books (some through RK Publications, Mumbai, and some self-published) - Received the Maharashtra Hindi Sahitya Academy Award (a state-level government literary award) - Been featured in multiple newspapers like Amar Ujala, Mahanagar, Yashobhumi, and Mumbai Mitra
I want to check if this would meet Wikipedia’s notability criteria for authors before I begin writing the article. Thank you! Shrikant.jiii (talk) 12:49, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, @Shrikant.jiii, and welcome to the Teahouse.
- The question amounts to "Are there several independent, reliable, substantial sources about him? - that is, sources which meet all three criteria in WP:42. They do not have to be in English, though English sources are preferred if they exist.
- If you can find several such sources, then an article would be possible; but your conflict of interest may make it harder than it otherwise would be. You would need to effectively forget everything you personally knew about him, and write a neutral summary of what those sources say even if you think they leave out something important, or are even wrong about something.
- Note that neither publishing books, nor receiving that award (which does not appear to be a notable award - at least we do not have an article about it), nor "being featured" in newspapers, will help in themselves. Independent articles about those things may do so. And an in-depth independent article about him in a newspaper will help, but a passing mention, or an article which is mostly an interview with him, won't. Wikipedia has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them.
Depreciated/primary source usage for current events
Can a DEPRECIATEd source be used for, say, current events? What would qualify for acceptable use? What about primary sources? Zinderboff (talk) 15:06, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Deprecated sources generally should not be used; the only exception is when they write about themselves, such as a newspaper announcing its own change of editor.
- Note that some sources are only deprecated for certain topics (e.g. medicine) and others only after a certain date. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:31, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Help Writing in Neutral tones
Hello, I just wrote my first ever wikipedia article and it was denied since it sounded more like an advertisement than encyclopedic. I have no malicious intent, and I'm just trying to write about a cool company in my town, if anyone could point out places that seem exaggerated or embellished please let me know. Also the sources I used... to my knowledge... are not paid for by the company, but if anyone has suggestions for things to remove due to the sources not being reliable please let me know! Thanks!

- Hello, @Sjonnyon, and welcome to the Teahouse.
- Usually when a draft is declined with that comment, the problem is that the writer has either written what they know about the subject, or has written what the subject wants people to know about themselves.
- Neither of these is of any relevance.
- A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several people wholly unconnected with the subject have independently chosen to publish about the subject, and very little else. See WP:42 for information about suitable sources.
- My earnest advice to new editors is to not even think about trying to create an article until you have spent several weeks - at least - learning about how Wikipedia works by making improvements to existing articles. Copyright
I was editing a page on a regional hospital and I used their website to get the list of specialty clinics they provide. I listed the specialties on the Wikipedia page and provided the citation to the hospital website.
I was reverted because the editor said it was a copyright infringement.
This is public information.
I don’t understand. I asked the question from AI and got this
‘’These specialties are publicly listed on Western Missouri Medical Center’s official website and provider directory. There is no copyright restriction on listing or summarizing these services when sourced from open-access pages.” Doglover.Coton (talk) 20:05, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Please follow the process described at WP:DR.
- That said, I've looked at the edit in question, and while the list is probably not copyrightable, it's not appropriate for inclusion in the article. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:57, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Can you expound on why the list of specialty clinics would not be appropriate in inclusion? I felt like it was a key component of what this institution is.
- I’m still learning so appreciate your input. Doglover.Coton (talk) 22:08, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- It's not Wikipedia's place to list (much less to try to maintain over time a list of) every service an organisation provides; much of what is in the list is standard for a hospital, and per WP: NOTDIRECTORY. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:14, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Welcome template for SPA?
Is there a welcome template, so not a warning per se, but a welcome template that does bring attention still to the fact that an account appears to be a new single-purpose account? I noticed that for this account and felt it would have been helpful if it does exist. Iljhgtn (talk) 07:36, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Iljhgtn New accounts very often do focus on a single topic, when newcomers create their account with the intention of completing some task and find that difficult, so it takes time. There may be a template such as you seek but if, even after making the necessary assumptions you think something is "off", you would be better composing a message of you own, I think. Being single-purpose is not itself a problem although persisting to force content when shown why it doesn't fit can be. Mike Turnbull (talk) 08:36, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

adding a brand name to an article
Hello i am new here and do not know too much about the editing process but i would like to ask for assistance with regards to 'sex doll' main article. i see it mentions some sex doll brands but when i tried adding YJLDoll as one of those brands it was not approved or removed i guess? Can anyone help me add that? or how to add it so it does not get removed. it was on the "see also" and it named several brands. thank you Execactlymedia (talk) 07:14, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- No, we won't add that to Sex doll. See also sections are only used to link English Wikipedia articles, and YJLDoll does not have an English Wikipedia article. Your mention of the company in the body of the article was unsourced and promotional, and was removed. You then created Draft:YJLDOLL about the company, but it is unsourced, promotional, appears to be AI-generated, and was declined by user:MCE89. Meters (talk) 07:27, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

- Hi @Execactlymedia, I was the one that reverted your edit. I do apologise for not leaving you a message, it is rare that I forget to do that.
- I reverted your edit as it was advertising, you dumped your edit in the middle of a section about the state of research into sex doll usage. Your edit was spammy. Knitsey (talk) 07:33, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

Adding a new article
I'd like to add a biography of a media personality to the page 35.132.169.216 (talk) 03:25, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- honestly, they're really small and just starting out. After reading more of the info on here I don't think she would qualify. 35.132.169.216 (talk) 04:29, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Tell us who it is and why you think he/she deserves a wikipedia page. Bduke (talk)
- Bduke's "deserves" isn't wrong but might give the wrong impression. If your media personality is "really small", you may think that she's so perceptive/surprising/hilarious/whatever that she deserves far more subscribers to her Youtube channel (or whatever) than the paltry number that she currently gets, and that an article about her here might deservedly give her a leg up. But that's not how things work here. Wikipedia is fundamentally conservative: it permits articles about media personalities who are already noted (in reliable sources, and whether for their worth or for their lack of worth), not about those unknown to search engines. -- Hoary (talk) 05:28, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
Request for assistance regarding William S. Harney entry, and/or clarification please.
Hello, thank you for your time. I updated a sort of misleading entry on "William S. Harney" with more background information and cited sources. It, the entry's previous introduction of sorts, was inarguably misleading/slanted, for example, leaving out any mention of Harney's complex relationship with the Native American's, even in passing, but implicitly mischaracterizing the situation as being overly one dimensional and negative in general. The first sentences in the previous version mentioned this individual's negative/slanderous "nick names" ~exclusively for example. I ~briefly elaborated upon this discussion regarding nick names. Another editor seemingly immediately came in and deleted all of my contribution to said page, and the references there associated, and simply explained said edit in such a way; "this doesn't belong in the first sentence...". I'm sort of ~newish here, so, my apologies if I am misunderstanding something, but is there some way to sort of way "appeal" these sorts of situations perhaps please? Thank you. Cite book punctuation

Any suggestions? Thank you. Protalina (talk) 10:22, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, @Protalina. I don't think there is a way to do this. The easiest is probably just not using the template, but creating the citation text directly (between the <ref> and </ref>).
- You could request it be added at Template talk:cite book, but whether anybody will be willing to implement it, I don't know. It would presumably need a new parameter. ColinFine (talk) 11:48, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Am I being a nuisance on Wikipedia
Hi, I am Lutitium, I am new on Wikipedia, I feel like I have been a bit of a nuisance on Wikipedia. I feel like I have been a bit annoying lately, although I want to contribute to Wikipedia, I have made several mistakes. I made a draft for an article titled,"a brief overview of hanging" and submitted it twice; it being rejected both times, I also made one more article which is currently under discussion for deletion, tiled,"is women empowerment still relevant", one of my edits got reverted for copyright violations, and then was restored, but it did take a chunk of time from User Sphilrock, I accidentally reverted a good page curation twice and all this is making me feel like i am being annoying to the Wkipedia community, so am I, or am I overthinking it. Lutitium (talk) 15:16, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- I suggest you start like you would with most things - learn the ropes by making small changes. Fix typos, find and add citations, make updates (sports results, record releases, etc.) and so on.
- Accidents are not a problem, so long as you learn from them. And ask for help when you need it. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:26, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Can I suggest that you ask yourself if you are learning by your mistakes and understand the reasoning? There isn't an editor on the project that hasn't made a mistake, longevity in editing comes from learning and understanding.
- You may want to take things steady for a while, copy editing is a great way to learn about Wikipedia policy and guidance.
- You might also want to look for a project that you are interested in? Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory might provide you with the various projects you could get involved with.
- Lastly, I would stay away from contentious topics for now. Knitsey (talk) 15:30, 25 July 2025 (UTC)

- Those two titles you mention above are instantly not appropriate for Wikipedia articles. A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several reliable independent sources say about a subject, and little else. It should not advance any kind of argument or conclusions (except where it is reporting the argument or conclusions contained within a single reliable source, which it cites). Thus an article should never present a question, as your second title did. And an article about "hanging" should be entitled hanging, as our existing article is - what would be the purpose of a brief overview of it, as a separate article?

- It's not appropriate for Wikipedia so simply abandon the idea. As well as small editing tasks, you should read more pages so you can see what's appropriate. We don't write essays and opinions in the way you're trying. Osa Akwamarynowa (talk) 09:43, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

- The vast majority of edits to Wikipedia are not creating new articles, but improving existing articles. That might be through adding more detail or new information, fixing typos, finding and adding missing citations, adding images, improving spelling and grammar, removing promotional language, or many other such changes.

- Don't be too hard on yourself! Mistakes happen with everyone. The important thing is to learn from it. I would suggest taking things slow, and learning about Wikipedia's policies through that, before moving to big projects like article creation. Me, as well as others here, all appreciate you joining Wikipedia and trying to improve it, and hope you stay. Happy editing! EarthDude (wanna talk?) 16:42, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- I agree with the other authors that starting a little more slowly will help, but having said that, the fact that you are here at the Teahouse asking the question and you are *not* somewhere else edit-warring (or yelling/being yelled at) over those articles is an excellent sign.
- Please continue editing, and welcome to Wikipedia. MilesVorkosigan (talk) 16:52, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
Updating Caswell County Schools
Hello and hope all is well. Caswell County Schools is quite outdated and needs more current information there regarding demographics, budget, and leadership, among other aspects. Thank you for any assistance you can provide! Peabodyb (talk) 02:28, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, Peabodyb. That article is unprotected and can be edited by anyone. Just write neutrally and provide references to reliable sources verifying the content that you add. Cullen328 (talk) 05:38, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. I don't have that information. I'm asking for help on it. Thanks again Peabodyb (talk) 21:25, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
I don't understand this "feedback"
Dear Teahouse,
my draft got rejected, which is fair enough (Draft:Arjan Kozica).
But it got deleted without any really reason or feedback. All I can find is "WP:NACADEMIC likely not met. For reference see Google Scholar.", which does not really answer anything at all, especially "likely". And worst of all, it gives me zero idea how to fix/improve my draft. - I had asked the reviewer for more information but got only silence. Can you help me here? PedroTheHamster (talk) 06:59, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Addendum: if it were to refer to the h-index, which as I understand it is not the correct review practice unless it's given as reason for notability, then I don't understand either, as the h-index at 13@5y should be absolutely alright.. PedroTheHamster (talk) 07:07, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Neither deleted nor rejected, PedroTheHamster. Instead, declined. You're free to improve and resubmit. What's the problem with WP:NACADEMIC? (You don't understand part of it; and if so, which part? You believe that Kozic does satisfy it? Something else?) -- Hoary (talk) 07:42, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Caleb Stanford: Pinging the article reviewer. Quite possibly they did not notice PedroTheHamster's question on their (Pedro's) talk page. Meters (talk) 07:48, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reply! I was unaware that there is a difference between declined and rejected – that is critical to know! Thank you.
- And yes, I am currently researching and writing myself in the field that he studies in and found him notable enough to go through the trouble of making an article. I thought WP:NACADEMIC was met… So, I would love to understand and make it suitable. :) PedroTheHamster (talk) 08:15, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @PedroTheHamster WP:NACADEMIC lists eight specific criteria. Which of these do you think he meets and what is the evidence? Assessing notability for academics can be tricky as little tends to be written about them independently. Mike Turnbull (talk) 08:31, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @PedroTheHamster: I won't see replies unless you ping me with {{ping|Caleb Stanford}} Please see Mike's question above, this is the best route forward! Regarding: "it gives me zero idea how to fix/improve my draft" - partly this is because the first question is not how to improve the draft, but whether the topic merits an article at all. The criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia are really quite selective, even someone who might be notable in general terms might not have any reliable sources demonstrating that they are notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. So don't be too discouraged if it turns out the subject doesn't satisfy the criteria. Caleb Stanford (talk) 17:14, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, Mr. Stanford. I think, I understand now, and will work some more on specific and secondary notability. Thank you for the encouragement and have a lovely weekend. PedroTheHamster (talk) 19:17, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @PedroTheHamster: Your submission has been declined, not rejected. This means the article is not ready to become a Wikipedia article yet. Usually it's due to insufficient sourcing or bad editing (too short, too long, bad grammar etc.) Rejection would mean the page does not belong here (so it won't deserve publication no matter how we try to expand or beautify it), which usually results from lack of notability. --CiaPan (talk) 09:12, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Dziekuje CiaPan, I will work on finding suitable sources to underline notability. :) PedroTheHamster (talk) 19:18, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
Help for article
Hello! I asked for help at the Articles for Creation helpdesk, but the person who replied said he was no longer interested in the article. No other person is replying, presumably because the topic has become lost admist the others.
The article (Draft:Sanjib Bhattacharjee) has been rejected, however I wanted to reiterate that I have taken great care to ensure that it meets the notability guidelines.
Following changes, there are at least five independent, reliable sources that offer substantial coverage of Mr Bhattacharjee’s road safety work and recognition. I have also included other non-English sources not listed below.
- Assam Tribune — one of India’s most respected papers, with in-depth biographical detail
- Intelligent Instructor — an industry-leading UK publication in the road safety sector
- Road Safety GB — a national body advising on government policy
- Waltham Forest Guardian — showing long-standing political and public activity
- The Pioneer — established in 1865, and widely regarded in Indian journalism, it published coverage of Mr Bhattacharjee on its World News page, noting his recognition and advocacy work. I referenced its founding year not to imply automatic reliability, but to offer context about its editorial legacy. I understand that age alone doesn't define reliability — and my aim was to spotlight the relevance and reputation of the source. The information in the article seems to be different and the date published is recent (17 July), whereas the others are in January. This implies a change and that he continues to contribute, and it is not from a press release, there are also different images (as there was previous concern it was just paraphrased from the Assam Tribune article, but this is not the case).
The Pioneer I have only just added, and demonstrates Mr Bhattacharjee's international relevance.
Assam Tribune, Road Safety GB, Intelligent Instructor, DIA, and The AA — each independently highlight Mr Bhattacharjee’s role in road safety and confirm his status as the first person from London to receive a British Empire Medal (BEM) for driving instructor training. His presence at the King’s New Year Honours press conference was also noted by multiple outlets, underscoring both his national recognition and uniqueness in the field. In terms of the quotes, I didn't realise that small quotes from Bhattacharjee implies non-independence, as the rest of the information is not from him (as this was a concern previously, too)
If you think there are still specific areas that would benefit from stronger sourcing, I would be grateful for any examples or suggestions — and I remain fully committed to improving the draft with further reviewer input.
In earlier versions of the draft, I included citations from Metro (which featured Mr Bhattacharjee’s motoring advice) and NHS volunteer pages on LinkedIn referencing his community service. These were added in good faith because they reflected real-world impact and verifiable roles. However, based on helpful guidance from another reviewer, I removed them — understanding that Wikipedia prioritises sources with strong editorial control, independence, and reputational reliability.
Regarding Gati Dainik, a Bengali-language newspaper, I want to clarify that while its coverage included Mr Bhattacharjee’s place of birth, student election victories, and early college leadership, I deliberately chose not to include those details in the draft. My reason was that I could not find corroborating independent sources, and I wanted to avoid synthesis or reliance on non-English sources without appropriate translation. If such non-English material can be included with proper citation and context, I'm happy to revisit it with care.

Headline: Shreebhumi’s Sanjib Bhattacharjee to Receive British Honour Sanjib Bhattacharjee, originally from Shreebhumi in Karimganj district, has been selected to receive the British Empire Medal (BEM) in recognition of his long-standing contributions to public service and road safety in the United Kingdom. His name was announced in the King’s New Year Honours list, and he becomes the first person from London working in the field of driving instructor training and mentoring to receive this honour. Born and raised in Shreebhumi, Sanjib was active in student leadership during his education. At Karimganj College, he was elected General Secretary and later Vice President of the student union. He continued his involvement in civic life at Gauhati University, demonstrating early commitment to social engagement. Since 1989, Sanjib has been involved in volunteer and community service activities in both India and the UK. His work has focused on road safety awareness, mentoring driving instructors, and emergency volunteering, including responses to natural disasters and public health campaigns. His recognition has brought pride to the people of Karimganj and Assam. In the UK, Mr Bhattacharjee serves as a Trainer and Mentor for driving instructors with two of Britain’s leading motoring organisations: the British School of Motoring (BSM) and the AA. He has held positions within the Labour Party, including President of the party’s local division. He switched to the Conservative party thereafter, receiving personal recognition from then Prime Minister David Cameron. |
As for the Intelligent Instructor article, Paul Caddick’s name appeared on the page when the source was first automatically uploaded (rather than manually), which is why I attributed it to him. If that’s unclear or misleading, I’ll revise it immediately — my intent has always been to ensure transparency and accuracy.
I truly want to get this right and am fully open to further constructive advice. If there are remaining areas that need stronger sourcing or improved context, I would be grateful for any examples or direction. I remain committed to learning through collaboration and improving the article in line with Wikipedia’s standards.

- The last reviewer rejected the draft, that typically is the end of the line for a draft; you have already spoke with the rejecting reviewer and they don't think the subject is notable; you need to first ask them to reconsider or otherwise allow you to resubmit the draft. 331dot (talk) 09:37, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- As per other reviewers comments the subject does not pass WP:NPOLITICIAN, in addition Google drive is not a reliable source and photographs are not reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 09:43, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Google Drive isn't a source at all - it's a file hosting service. Reliable sources saved on Google Drive are reliable, but are quite likely to be copyright violations. Cordless Larry (talk) 10:10, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Cordless Larry@Theroadislong @331dot I have just changed the Google drive link to a direct link to the newspaper, hope that's okay! I'm not sure which is a photograph - if you are referring to the Assam Tribune (https://epaper.assamtribune.com/clip-preview/57961t8prCfRGhRFMS1p9PVGxT1uIeVhkcpuO7428814), this is a e-paper clipping found on the Assam Tribune itself. The link to the specific paper is https://epaper.assamtribune.com/full-page-pdf/epaper/pdf/2025/04/05/the-assam-tribune/6800, but this requires a paid subscription.
- As for notability, I am submitting for WP:ANYBIO, not as a politician.

Draft declined - reasons not specific
Hello, we are having our draft declined without specific reasons provided. One reviewed wanted more summaries and less quotes. The next didn't want summaries and more quotes. Feel like we are going back and forward on purely how individuals want to see our third party verified citations referenced and described. Is there any higher power here who can provide some sensible judgement? Literarywolf2025 (talk) 21:06, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Literarywolf2025 You didn't say - but I assume you are talking about Draft:Folly Journal ? - Could you also explain who "We" are, and do I assume you have a WP:Conflict of interest, and, more specifically, do you work for Folly Journal? - Arjayay (talk) 21:20, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Literarywolf2025 Did you use an AI chatbot like ChatGPT or Claude or Copilot to write this draft? It has the hallmarks of being written by AI. Please very carefully read Wikipedia:Large language models. There is no way it can be accepted in its current state with the AI-generated prose still present.
- As you are employed by the journal it is mandatory you declare this by following Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure, otherwise your account will be blocked. qcne (talk) 21:24, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- We are volunteers. Happy to disclose - there's nothing to hide here. We just thought it would be a good idea to create a page that pulls most of our media mentions and reviews together. All information is correct and verified. Literarywolf2025 (talk) 00:03, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Draft:Folly Journal has two "decline" notices. I don't see any mention of quotations in either. Both say of the creation of drafts that "The best way is usually to read reliable sources and summarize them, instead of using a large language model." Strangely, this seems to suggest that using an LLM is on occasion better than reading reliable sources, etc.; this bizarre suggestion aside, how does the one notice contradict the other? ¶ I was struck by International submission platform Chill Subs included Folly in its July 2025 list of journals all the cool kids are submitting their work to. Wondering what (if anything) this meant, I clicked on the reference ("Retrieved 2025-07-24"), but was told "Sorry, this page isn't available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed." -- Hoary (talk) 21:39, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Likely a hallucinated reference. The advice about quotes is on their Talk Page. qcne (talk) 21:42, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Qcne: The only occurrence of the word "quote" on User talk:Literarywolf2025 is from Literarywolf themselves. jlwoodwa (talk) 23:17, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Where is this? We haven only quoted from third party sources. Thanks for your help. Literarywolf2025 (talk) 00:08, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

advice about quotes
on your talk page. jlwoodwa (talk) 00:11, 27 July 2025 (UTC)- Yes we aren't sure what this is in relation to either. It's all becoming a bit complicated. We thought it would just be a quick sensible thing to do to get a lot of our third party references in one fact based place, but the gatekeeping or accusations of fake content are rather frustrating. Literarywolf2025 (talk) 00:19, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

- Where is this? We haven only quoted from third party sources. Thanks for your help. Literarywolf2025 (talk) 00:08, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- It's not hallucination. All true references to media sources. We can fix the broken link (last we checked this was working!). We are volunteers, just looking to get fact based compilation together ahead of the Frankfurt Book Fair. There are no hallucinations here. Literarywolf2025 (talk) 00:02, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Of the thirteen sources cited in the draft's first revision, seven of them (more than half!) are dead links. This, together with AI tells like Markdown formatting, makes me quite confident that these are AI hallucinations. It's alright if you didn't know the issues with using AI on Wikipedia at the time, but now that you've been informed, please stop insisting that everything is "true" and "correct" and "verified". jlwoodwa (talk) 00:23, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Not hallucinated. link fixed. Literarywolf2025 (talk) 00:20, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Qcne: The only occurrence of the word "quote" on User talk:Literarywolf2025 is from Literarywolf themselves. jlwoodwa (talk) 23:17, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yes this is why we changed quotes to 'summaries'. But then the next person said it was essay form (it wasn't, it was a summary of the quote), so we moved it back to direct quotes. Not quite sure what more we can do. Appreciate advice. We used AI to help us to format everything according to these Wiki instructions, because it appeared quite technical and we are publishers not coders: Wikipedia:Citing sources - Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- However all the references are correct and our editing team have proofed the entry. Literarywolf2025 (talk) 00:07, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Likely a hallucinated reference. The advice about quotes is on their Talk Page. qcne (talk) 21:42, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Literarywolf2025, above, at 00:02, "we are volunteers"; at 00:07, "we are publishers". Are you perhaps unpaid interns for Folly Journal? ¶ The link works. "Chillsubs_official" says "We asked you where the cool kids are submitting these days and here’s what you said"; and it puts Folly Journal as one among 22 you-saids that make up "part 1". (I haven't investigated "part 2".) ¶ A few seconds ago, I googled for "folly journal" and Google dished me up a list that started with https://www.follyjournal.com/. Search engine bubbles differ, of course; but I imagine that follyjournal.com will be at or near the top of most. The pages of that website can of course be edited to say whatever you at the Journal want them to say, and as quickly as you wish. I wonder why you're so keen to also have an entry in Wikipedia. -- Hoary (talk) 00:40, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- I have softblocked Literarywolf2025 since all indications are that this account is being used by two or more people contrary to policy. Irresponsible use of AI/LLMs is an aggravating factor. Cullen328 (talk) 05:36, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

Garga Chatterjee Dr. Garga Chatterjee is a Kolkata‑based political commentator, linguistic activist, and academic associated with the Indian Statistical Institute. He is the founder of the Bengali advocacy group Bangla Pokkho.
Early life and education Born in Kolkata into a Bengali family, Chatterjee earned his MBBS from Medical College, University of Calcutta, reportedly in the early 2000s. He then obtained a PhD in Cognition, Brain and Behavior from Harvard University (Science Vision Lab under Prof. Ken Nakayama), followed by post‑doctoral training at MIT’s Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences under Prof. Pawan Sinha (2011–2014) .
Academic and professional career Chatterjee became a faculty member at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in Kolkata in 2015, teaching and writing on spatial cognition and perception, while contributing regular opinion pieces and columns to Bengali newspapers and online platforms .
Activism and public commentary He founded Bangla Pokkho, a group focused on linguistic rights and Bengali identity politics in West Bengal. Chatterjee has appeared frequently in media debates, advocating against Hindi imposition and highlighting Bengali cultural autonomy .
Controversies Remarks on Ahom dynasty In June 2020, Chatterjee referred to Swargadeo Chaolung Sukapha—the founder of the Ahom kingdom—as a “Chinese invader” in a series of tweets. The statements triggered widespread outrage in Assam and resulted in multiple FIRs filed across districts. Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ordered his arrest, and the Gauhati High Court directed Kolkata Police to apprehend him . Garga Chatterjee publicly issued an unconditional apology for the remarks on social media and in a video message, expressing regret to the Tai Ahom community and the Assam Chief Minister. He also offered to remove posts that might have hurt sentiments and cited personal family health challenges as part of his apology . In August 2022, Chatterjee was arrested in Kolkata under Assam’s warrant. He was released on transit bail and required to appear in Guwahati court subsequently .
--- Public perception Opinions about Chatterjee are deeply polarized: From Reddit commentary: > “He is a rabble‑rousing goon.” “He is firebrand leader of the future.”
Other users describe him as reminiscent of regional ethno‑linguistic activists: > “He is nothing more than bangla Raj Thakrey or Bajrang Dal.”
On broader sentiment politics: > “Talking points that would be perfect for Donald Trump… ‘this is my land you are an unwelcome guest here’ … the main guy behind this seemed to be Garga Chatterjee.”
Selected public remarks At India Today Conclave East 2018, Chatterjee commented on communal violence in West Bengal: > “Only one party benefits from riots in India—and that party is BJP… Bengal should remember its mother has two legs, not four; BJP should remember its mother has no arms, while ours has ten.”

- What is your question? -- Hoary (talk) 22:56, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- If you're saying "There should be an article on Garga Chatterjee; here's my draft for one", then copy what you've written, click on Draft:Garga Chatterjee, paste it in, and click on "Publish". Then start on the considerable task of making this draft comply with Wikipedia standards. That done (to the best of your knowledge and ability), submit it for consideration for promotion to article status. -- Hoary (talk) 23:19, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, IP user. A Wikipedia article should be a neutral summary of what several people unconnected with the subject have independent chosen to publish about the subject in reliable publications, and very little else.
- It follows that the way to successfully write an article begins with finding several sources that meet all the criteria in WP:42, and (if several can be found), continues with writing a neutral summary of what those sources say.
- Since what you have written above does not usefully cite any sources, it is not acceptable at present. Of the sources you list, 2 and 5 are not reliable sources and are almost never acceptable in a Wikipedia article; and 1 is almost certainly not independent, and so is of very limited usefulness. I can't speak to the other two without seeing them. But even if they are indeed reliable, independent, and substantial, two sources are not usually enough to establish notability.
Moving a page from draft to user space
I have a biography page in Drafts (Draft:Sajida Haider Vandal) which is due for deletion. I would like to improve it but don't have time right now. Is it possible to move it back into my user space, and if so how? (if someone could do it for me even better but that may be asking too much!) Marinheiro (talk) Marinheiro (talk) 09:46, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Marinheiro The whole url is not needed when linking to another page on Wikipedia, I fixed this.
- I don't see any deletion notices on your draft. A draft may remain so, it doesn't need to be in your user space, and it remains active as long as it is edited at least once every six months. 331dot (talk) 10:02, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Marinheiro was told at User talk:Marinheiro#Concern regarding Draft:Sajida Haider Vandal that five months have passed and it may be deleted after six. Any edit to the draft page would restart another six months but I have moved it to User:Marinheiro/Sajida Haider Vandal. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:20, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
Being an active contributer
How do I start actively contributing to Wikipedia? And how to write essays related to Wikipedia? RedGrape16 (talk) 20:41, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia, RedGrape16. You might start contributing by reading and digesting this and the pages to which it leads. Only a tiny minority of contributors to Wikipedia contribute essays related to it. In order for these essays to be any good, the writer must of course be very knowledgable about Wikipedia. Please wait till you have made a few thousand constructive edits to Wikipedia before you think of writing an essay about Wikipedia for Wikipedia. -- Hoary (talk) 20:52, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @RedGrape16, Welcome to Wikipedia and I hope you enjoy your stay.
- I can't recommend this strongly enough, but I would suggest you start off small. Try some copy editing. Take some time getting used to editing and Wikipedia policies.
- Have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory to see if anything there interests you.
- Forget essays for now. They will come later. Good luck. Knitsey (talk) 20:53, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Hoary @Knitsey Thank you for this, I will check out these links. RedGrape16 (talk) 21:55, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Article declined
My article on one of Ukraines most reknown artist has just been declined and I just need to understand why? On the comment it sounds like he as subject does not qualifie for a Wikipedia article and I really don't understand why not.
User:JogannaFM/sandbox. JogannaFM (talk) 09:46, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- The message left on your draft does not say "he as subject does not qualify for a Wikipedia article "; it says that "references do not show that the subject qualifies"; in other words, more needs to be done to demonstrate that the subject qualifies.
- You need to add more independent, reliable sources that demonstrate notability, and that meet all of the requirements at WP:GOLDENRULE.
- I also note that you have some statements that are completely uncited. This is not allowed for articles about living people.
- Finally your citations use bare URLs, which, while not forbidden, is bad practice; please see WP:referencing for beginners for tips on how to fix that. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:21, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your clear answer, I needed more clear feed back. I'll continue to work on the references,

Deleted work
In 2021 I started a page dedicated to Smooth Jazz Saxophonist Rock Hendricks. After months of attempts to correct actions keeping my work from being published I gave up. Am I just stuck? I find numerous artists Rock has collaborated with including Paul Hardcastle, Bobby Womack and Cold Play who list him as a contributing artist but I never was able to make progress. I LIKED trying and read as much as I could including using the TEA House to try and cure my article difficineies but I see it was deleted and I assume there is no restoring it to try and complete it now. Or is there? Please help Metoliusmark (talk) 21:35, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Metoliusmark Welcome to the Teahouse. As the message at the foot of your talk page says, drafts that are not edited for a period of 6 months are automatically deleted. Long Dark 2 Draft Declined
I recently submitted a draft for Blackfrost: The Long Dark 2 (right here), and it unfortunately didn't make the cut on account of a lack of in-depth, reliable, and independent references. For upcoming games (and just games in general), what would be some better sources, or sources to avoid? I think this article is important to start for when the game does release in full, so any help is appreciated on how to make it worthy of an article.
Thanks!
Redfruit33 (talk) 06:02, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, Redfruit33. Please read Wikipedia:Too soon. Continue working on your draft until sufficient new reliable independent sources have been published and cited in your draft as required to establish notability. Cullen328 (talk) 06:06, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Redfruit33: "upcoming" is basically just alternative spelling for "not yet notable in Wikipedia terms". If something is new to the market, or isn't even in the market yet, it is highly unlikely to have received significant coverage in multiple sources that are independent of it. We mostly summarise such coverage, therefore if the coverage doesn't (yet) exist, we can't summarise it, and can't therefore create an article. Wikipedia is never the first to report on new things; we don't lead, in that sense, we only ever follow others. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:25, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Double! Thanks, that's actually a really good explanation. And when more information does come out, say in developer diaries (not uncommon for Hinterland) would those be good on their own as sources, or should I wait for game journal pages/newsletters (IGN, PC Gamer, etc.) to do their coverage first? Just curious, and again, thank you!
- Redfruit33 (talk) 06:32, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Another term to watch for is "up and coming", intended to be synonymous with "trending", neither of which indicate notability. This term occurs mostly in articles about bands, in my observation. To be notable on Wikipedia, you can't be up-and-coming, you must have already arrived.
- As do your question, I'd say developer diaries aren't useful for establishing notability because they aren't independent sources. See WP:Golden Rule for a good summary of what kind of sources are needed. ~Anachronist (talk) 06:39, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
Strange email
I recieved an email that appeared to be from wiki@wikimedia.org that claimed a message was left on my talk page, by user "AmmarBot" on the page "Barka da zuwa!". I have never been to that page.
The message in the email did not make sense to me. It appears to be in a different language. This concerned me a little so I decided to investigate. I did not click any links in the email. I came to wikipedia.org by typing the URL into my browser. On arrival, I had to log in to my account. I have preferences set to only require logging in once a year, unless I clear my browser cookies and data. I did clear some of my browsing data today, so that may be the cause. I rarely clear anything for wikimedia sites but I might have, by accident. My saved username and password could not be autofilled via my browser. It appears to be a change in the way login works with Wikipedia, from what I gathered, but this made me a little more concerned.
Once I managed to log in, I saw I had a notification. I clicked the notification and it took me to a page in another language. It was the message the email referred to, I believe. I left the page after copying a small portion, hoping to translate it to english. The translate I used had no results. I tried to go back to copy more of the message and the notification disappeared. I have the email still but I cannot find that notification that took me to the other language page. I can't retrace my steps and do not want to click anything in the email to be safe. This has me much more concerned.
I do not get notifications often however, so perhaps I merely am looking in the wrong place. This might be an innocent misunderstanding. However, I am sufficiently worried that I may have fallen for a phishing email or domain homograph trick or something similarly malevolent. I have never recieved a message via wikimedia in another language before. I only speak English and bad English. I did visit several conlang pages yesterday and perhaps misclicked something without realizing it. I also had a guest who may have done something (highly unlikely) while I was occupied elsewhere.
I plan on changing my password. Out of an abundance of caution, I am avoiding doing anything further online. Any advice for me? Something to allay my concerns? Lattrommi (talk) 08:58, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- ". . . claimed a message was left on my talk page, by user "AmmarBot" on the page 'Barka da zuwa!'" I'm lost already. I mean, left on your page, or left on the page "Barka da zuwa!"? (Or both?) Anyway, "Barka da zuwa!" appears to be Hausa for "Welcome!" Guess: you accidentally made your first ever visit to Hausa Wikipedia, and Hausa Wikipedia is programmed to send a cheery Barka da zuwa! message to any username who's making their first visit (and who has supplied an email address). (I'd test this guess myself, if I weren't pretty certain I've visited Hausa Wikipedia already.) -- Hoary (talk) 09:14, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Lattrommi: I understand your concern but there is nothing to be worried about. Each Wikipedia language has its own logs. A local account is automatically created if you visit any page while you are already logged in at another language. Special:CentralAuth/Lattrommi shows your account was created at ha.wikipedia.org yesterday. You got a welcome message in the Hausa language at ha:Tattaunawar user:Lattrommi which is your user talk page there. I have a proposal at meta:Welcoming policy to disallow such welcome messages to users with no edits. It's discussed at meta:Requests for comment/Welcoming policy. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:50, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

- @Lattrommi: Regarding the disappearing notification, if a notification is about something at another wiki then it disappears after clicking it. You should still be able to see it at the other wiki ha: if you click the notification icon there. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:22, 26 July 2025 (UTC)

Status of Draft Article
- Inquiry Regarding Publication Status of Draft Article
Dear Wikipedia Editorial Team,
Greetings of day !!
I recently submitted an article titled "Samrat Rahi" as a draft for review (Draft:Samrat Rahi). I noticed that the article has not yet been published, and I am seeking guidance on understanding its current review status. Could you please let me know if there are any specific criteria or areas within the draft that require revision or further elaboration? Any insights or feedback on how I can improve this article to meet Wikipedia’s publication standards would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your assistance. I look forward to your valuable guidance. 115.246.137.102 (talk) 09:43, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- You have not actually submitted the draft, as you lacked the information needed to do so(I think you accidentally removed it). I have readded the information so you can actually submit the draft for a review. 331dot (talk) 09:46, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- I have prepared a draft article titled Samrat Rahi and would like to submit it for review and possible publication on Wikipedia.
- However, I am a bit confused about the correct process to officially submit this draft. Could someone kindly guide me on:
- How do I submit this draft for review?
- Are there any specific issues with the article that I should address before submission?
- What criteria must be fulfilled to meet Wikipedia’s publishing standards?
- I truly appreciate your support and am eager to learn and improve this article as needed.
- Thank you in advance for your kind guidance 115.246.137.102 (talk) 09:51, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- On the draft you should now see a blue "Submit your draft for review!" button, click this. The reviewer will examine the draft and leave feedback if it is not accepted. A draft must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the topic, showing how it is notable in a Wikipedia sense, such as a notable person. 331dot (talk) 09:59, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- User:Iamamanjha Your draft would be immediately declined if you were to submit it in its current state as it does not conform to the policy for biographies of living people, in that many facts have not been backed up by inline citations. Another editor thinks that you used a large language model to write the draft. Did you do that? Mike Turnbull (talk) 09:59, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- I am afraid I have rejected this draft, as you have not proven any indication this person meets Wikipedia:Notability (people). qcne (talk) 10:39, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
Questions about book sources
Hi, I've recently come into possession of 2 book sources which are no longer in publication on some niche topics that have Wikipedia articles that I wish to expand. However, both cases come with a unique set of issues I have been unable to identify from just reading Wikipedia policies:
Book 1: What are Wikipedia policies on the use of autobiographies of deceased persons on their own article?
Book 2: What are Wikipedia's policies on the use of self-published sources created by a business (in this case, a book) particularly as it pertains to related deceased persons and events spanning back to the early 1900s? UppercutPawnch (talk) 13:21, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- Book 1: An autobiography can be used as a source of facts, although those facts may need to be properly attributed (e.g., "In his autobiography, Mr. Fakename claimed to have been born at the summit of Mount Everest" rather than "Mr. Fakename was born at the summit of Mount Everest"). An autobiography cannot be used as a source of notability.
- Book 2: You'll have to be more specific. DS (talk) 14:20, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
Carol Ann Ford in Columbo
Hi! I was watching Columbo Season 2 Episode 4, “Dagger of the Mind”, when I noticed Carol Ann Ford appearing as an incidental at 58:27. This appearance isn’t listed on her Filmography, so I wanted to add it. However I don’t have much experience editing a wiki, so I’m not sure how to cite that as a source. Could anyone walk me through it? Jetstream Jackie (talk) 17:32, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Jetstream Jackie You will need to find a reliable published source (e.g. not IMDb) that credits her as being in that episode. Wikipedia is based on reliable sources, not original research. Shantavira|feed me 18:57, 26 July 2025 (UTC)
- There are a couple of options open to you. You could try to get a reliable TV website to write about this; and you can ask on the talk pages of the article and relevant projects, in the hope that someone else might know of a suitable source. Internet Screamer: More Examples?
The aforementioned article turned redirected section on the jumpscare article has only one actual example of an Internet screamer, this being the infamous Scary Maze Game. However, more screamers exist on the Internet. Such as:
Ghost caught on Tape (2006)
Little Dancing Girl (2008)
Nightmare Disk (1990)
File:NightMare Amiga scareware.png
and I could go on and on. Should we add other screamers to the section? 199.192.122.199 (talk) 01:07, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Normally I'd suggest that you should ask in Talk:Jump scare. But in view of the latest-and-lowermost thread there, I won't. So here's an alternative. Do not "go on and on". Choose a second "internet screamer", one that both (i) would complement the one already described and (ii) has been described or commented on in a reliable source. Add a mention of this second "screamer", judiciously, citing the source. Wait a couple of weeks and observe the reaction, if any. -- Hoary (talk) 01:37, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- I DID try getting GCOT and LDG on the article before, but due to them having no source, it was reverted and resulted in, well. 199.192.122.199 (talk) 02:15, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- If you lack a reliable source for a proposed addition, don't make the addition. -- Hoary (talk) 02:29, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

Hi there! i just created a new page here - AMPLE entertainment
But I should have capitalized Entertainment. Is there any way to fix that? I can’t seem to figure it out.

- I have moved the page to Draft:AMPLE Entertainment, because it is not clear that it qualifies for inclusion in Wikipedia. Please continue to work on it there, and when you are sure that it meets the requirements outlined at WP:GOLDENRULE, submit the article for review, via the process described at WP:AFC. - I gather from this company's website, that they're calling themselves AMPLE after their founders so it's Ari Mark & Phill Lott Entertainment but two of the three sources on that page call it "Ample Entertainment" (the other doesn't mention it). So going by WP:COMMONNAME, just capitalising the A and the E should be… sufficient. -- D'n'B-📞 -- 18:50, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

GcMAF
Question for the Teahouse. Is the following acceptable for posting on the GcMAF page to update this page with an important missing fact? It's been so long since I posted that I have forgotten all the rules and need advice. I do not want to get into an edit war. Please let me know your analysis and if this is workable and can be pursued. Or is any or all of it unacceptable?
COMPLETED FDA REGISTERED PHASE 1 CLINICAL TRIAL IN ISRAEL
In May 2017 the Sheba Hospital in Israel successfully completed a cancer-related GcMAF (under the name EF-022) FDA registered Phase 1 Clinical Trial. Results for Part 1 of this trial were presented at the AACR-NCI-EORTC International Conference on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics, held November 5-9, 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts. In the Part 1, Phase 1 Clinical Trial GcMAF was found to have an acceptable safety profile and resulted in cancer related disease stabilization in 42% of trial patients. Pharmacodynamics markers suggest a reduction of Tregs and increase of the M1/M2 ratio.

As an aside, unrelated to my question (not postable), you may be interested in the study below that describes how GcMAF is thought to work in helping the immune system attack cancers. The immune system makes GcMAF, it appears, to turn the ZEB2 gene in macrophages OFF (epigenetically) when swallowed by TAMs to change their programming from pro-cancer to anti-cancer. The GcMAF page is mostly out of date with a negative slant when the science is becoming positive.

Advice on appropriate Creative Commons license for images of college campuses
Hello! I’m updating the Daytona State College article and would like to upload one image for each of the college’s seven campuses. The college owns the copyright to all seven photos and wants to make them available for non-commercial use – such as inclusion in Wikipedia articles – but would prefer to restrict commercial reuse unless prior permission is granted.
Many college articles seem to use the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, but my understanding is that it permits commercial reuse. We’re concerned that this could allow an unrelated business to use one of our campus images in a way that misrepresents the college or conflicts with its values.
My question is:
Is there a Creative Commons license option that would allow free use on Wikipedia and similar educational/non-commercial platforms, but restrict commercial reuse?
And if not, are there any accepted alternatives for contributing such images under fair use or a more limited license?
I’d appreciate any guidance you can offer. Thank you! DesertDingoRacing (talk) 15:05, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- @DesertDingoRacing Commons does not accept the "NC" restriction. See Commons:Licensing. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:12, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- ... One thing you could ask the College about is whether they would allow low-resolution images that are of no use for commercial purposes to be uploaded. Note that the U.S. has freedom of panorama for buildings, so you could take your own photos! Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:17, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- Mike, thank you for the advice. Per my User page (and for complete transparency) I work for Daytona State and am paid for my contributions to Wikipedia. Any photos I would take would be in my role as Communications Manager for the college. I have no intent to promote the college, only to improve the article's completeness and accuracy.
- Assuming we use low resolution versions of the seven images, is there a designation that allows fair use while restricting commercial use?
- Thank you all for your help and your patience with my questions. DesertDingoRacing (talk) 15:30, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- There is no "no commercial use" licence suitable for use on Wikipedia. At all. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:03, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

- @DesertDingoRacing: The point of Commons is to host media that is free to use for any purpose what-so-ever so long as any licence for that media is adhered to. Thus, any licence that restricts usage (such as the Non-commercial (NC) and No Derivative Works (ND) prongs of Creative Commons) is at odds with that philosophy. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:31, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Request for Help with moving an article
Hi everyone,
I’ve created a user subpage about Zahava Solomon (User:MrEksh/Zahava Solomon) and would like to have it moved or created as a main Wikipedia article.
Unfortunately, I’m currently blocked from moving pages myself. Could someone please help me understand the best waay to proceed or assist with moving the page?
I have included reliable sources and references, and I believe the toopic meets Wikipedia’s notability criteria.
Thanks so much for your help! MrEksh (talk) 10:59, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Welcome to the Teahouse, MrEksh. Large parts of the draft are unsourced, including BLP material, so I don't believe that it is suitable for mainspace. I suggest submitting the draft for review once you've ensured it's fully supported by sources. Cordless Larry (talk) 11:24, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Please do persist with improving the article, as it looks as though the subject is a suitable one for Wikipedia. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:46, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- I have put a button at the top of your draft for you to submit it for review.
- A biography of a living person cannot have unsourced statements. See WP:BLP.
- There are minor formatting issues. Wikipedia doesn't use title case in headings; sentence case only (see MOS:HEADINGS). And there are some unusual large blank spaces between some paragraphs. ~Anachronist (talk) 12:00, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
Article for a Travel Company I'm Involved With
Hello! I'm new to Wikipedia and I had a question about creating an article for a travel company. It’s a growing Indian travel platform that focuses on offbeat destinations, sustainable tourism, and local culture. It currently has a large audience on social media (over 300K followers across platforms) and has received coverage on several blogs and travel websites. I want to understand: Is it allowed to create a Wikipedia page for a brand or company you are associated with? What are the best practices to ensure it meets Wikipedia's notability and neutrality guidelines? Should I create the article draft myself, or would it be better to request help from an experienced editor? My main goal is to provide clear and reliable information for people who search for the brand online — not for promotion, but for public knowledge. I would really appreciate your guidance on how to proceed. Thank you! 223.181.42.157 (talk) 12:14, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello. We don't have articles "for" a company- that they own and can use to their benefit- we have articles about companies. They are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the topic, though it is permitted for someone with a conflict of interest to use the Articles for Creation process to create and submit a draft. Even this will be very challenging- you need to set aside your personal knowledge of the company, all materials it puts out(its website, interviews, press releases) and all reporting of routine business activities(like the commencement of operations or the raising of capital) and only summarize significant coverage- coverage that goes in depth as to what the source sees as important/significant/influential about the company, not what it sees as important about itself. You need to show that the company is a notable company as Wikipedia defines one.
- If you work for this company, the Terms of Use require that to be disclosed, see WP:PAID.
- The word "growing" is a strong indicator that it is too soon for an article about your company; anything that is "growing" or "rising" almost never merits an article. A topic must have already arrived and be established in its field to draw the significant coverage needed to support an article. Wikipedia is the last place to write about something, not the first- it does not lead the coverage, it follows it. 331dot (talk) 12:32, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

Plot summary—book vs movie
Hi there, another editor recently wrote a somewhat detailed plot summary for Lychees of Chang'an, not realizing that the article is about the novel, not the film, which is what they used as their source. I have no idea how closely the film hews to the novel's storyline, but I feel like the summary that was compiled should be preserved. What's the best way to proceed, in this case? Thanks! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 15:21, 27 July 2025 (UTC) Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 15:21, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Three options:
- If there is an article about the film (or if you are inclined to start one), move it there.
- Make a sub-section of the existing article, about the film, and include the summary there.
- Remove it (it will always be available in the history), and open a discussion on the article talk page; notify the editor concerned.

Images
Hi there! I'm still quite new to Wikipedia, so I'm eager to learn. But I love the site and the community here! I love films, actors, TV, directors, theatre etc. I recently successfully uploaded an image of an actor/filmmaker on this page James Krishna Floyd. It was up for a few months, with no tags or issue, then suddenly taken down. The photograph has been approved for a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareALike by the photographer, Michael Shelford. Can you please show me where I have gone wrong? The photographer says he would like this photograph back up on said page.

How do I get a category to update after editing pages within it?
I've been adding coordinates to articles listed in Category:Oregon articles missing geocoordinate data. I was under the impression that the pages would automatically be removed from the category after I added coordinates to them. However, it has been about 12 hours and none of the pages I edited have been removed from the category. Am I doing something wrong on the pages? Do I just need to wait longer? Am I supposed to remove the pages from the category manually? I'd appreciate an explanation of what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it. Thanks!
Edit: I just figured out what I was doing wrong. I forgot to remove the coord missing|Oregon tag. I'm not sure how to delete this question, sorry. CoolFrog82 (talk) 19:43, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
Naming category for Visayan pop artists
Hello, may I please get some advice on how to name a category I'm planning to make? It's a category for artists in the Visayan pop genre, specifically ones who have been described as such in the media. My problem is that if I name it "List of Visayan pop artists," it might simply seem like a category for pop artists who are Visayan. But it's specifically artists in that genre.
For example, Mrld is Visayan and has said that her work has been inspired by Visayan pop, but she has not had any songs in that genre, so she wouldn't be included in the category. I was thinking of naming it "List of Vispop artists" (the fact that Visayan pop is often shortened to Vispop is mentioned in the lead section), but there's another genre page using that term, Vispop. However, Vispop (the Swedish genre) is wholly unsourced and has been a stub for years. On the other hand, Visayan pop is a GA-class article.
Any advice on what to name this category? Bloomagiliw (talk) 16:28, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- @Bloomagiliw: Are you trying to write a list article, or add a WP:Category to the bottom of pages? List of Visayan pop artists is a potential title for an article listing these kinds of artists. Category:Visayan pop artists could be added to the bottom of pages about those artists. To create a category, click on the red-linked category and then add the broader categories, and perhaps a description of what should be included. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:04, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Trying to add a category to the bottom of pages! Would saying "Please do not simply add artists here who are Visayan. This category refers to artists who have identified as artists in the Visayan pop genre or have been identified as such in the media." on the category page itself be okay? Bloomagiliw (talk) 04:06, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yes that is a good idea. Hopefully people will read that category page before adding it. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:36, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

Formatting Slang word
Hi People of Wikipedia teahouse!
Draft:Theorestatistician - Wikipedia
Thank you in advance for your suggestions. Side8frozen (talk) 22:44, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- What you seem to be including in this article looks more like a Wiktionary entry, rather than an encyclopaedic article. You will need at least 3 sources that demonstrate the requirements at WP:42 to demonstrate that this word is notable, and the content must include context like word history, usage, etc. If you want others to include that, it's highly unlikely that anyone will dedicate the time to it. If I had to guess myself, this will never be an article as google returns zero results for that word. TheDowningStreetCat (talk) 23:31, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello Side8frozen :). As the message on your Talk page notes, the issue with your draft isn't the formatting, but rather that "Neologisms are not considered suitable for Wikipedia unless they receive substantial use and press coverage; this requires strong evidence in independent, reliable, published sources.". This means that new words must be significantly used before they are considered notable (good for an article). Looking online I can't find any mentions of "Theorestatistician". African Gymnastics Union needs article?
I was reading the featured article on Mohamed Lazhari-Yamani (In the "did you know" section), and noticed a red link to a page for the African Gymnastics Union. There is some information available online- It's a part of the international gymnastics federation (which has a wiki page), and there are a handful of (short) articles that come up when googling about it. Is it not notable enough to get a page? If so, should someone do something about the red link to where it's page should be? Thanks. MortalGoose (talk) 04:31, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Is it not notable enough to get a page? I have no comment on this. If so, should someone do something about the red link to where it's page should be? I suppose you're asking, "If it is notable enough, should somebody create an article?" To this, I'd respond: Nobody need feel obliged to create any article. If you believe that the African Gymnastics Union is notable and that you can create a policy-compliant article about it, then you should feel free to create Draft:African Gymnastics Union (or not to do so). But if you're thinking of creating any draft, you'd be well advised to get some experience of improving existing articles beforehand. -- Hoary (talk) 04:59, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
How to resubmit article
- How to resubmit my article after rejection, with new reliable sources for citation?
Hello,
My recent submission to Wikipedia about my company was rejected. I would like to improve the article and try again, but I want to ensure I am following the right process this time.
I now have a list of reliable sources for citation, including coverage from reputable media and business news portals:
- Economic Times: “AI startup Fibr raises $1.8 million in a funding round led by Accel”
- Entrepreneur: “Fibr secures USD 1.8mn funding led by Accel to enhance AI”
- Outlook Business: “Fibr raises $1.8mn in seed round led by Accel”
- Entrackr, Indian Startup News, Business Outreach, EquityPandit, StartupStoryMedia, MarketingTechNews, Crunchbase, MarketingReport.one, StartupArticle, AIMMediaHouse, G2.com reviews, Yahoo! Finance
Could someone please guide me through:
- The steps I should take to properly resubmit my article after rejection?
- Best practices to ensure that my citations are considered reliable and meet Wikipedia’s notability guidelines?
- Any tips for formatting or organizing sources to strengthen my submission and reduce the risk of another rejection?
Thank you for your help! Udhay S P (talk) 06:51, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, Udhay S P. Please read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), and read it carefully from beginning to end. All those sources about "funding rounds" do not establish notability (eligibility for an article) because the guideline makes it clear that coverage of "raised capital" is considered trivial. And $1.8 million? That's not much for a genuinely notable company. "Startup" is a synonym for WP:TOOSOON. Cullen328 (talk) 07:22, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
Courtesy link: Draft:Fibr AI. As it says in the decline notice at the top of the page (which you removed and I have restored), your draft was declined (meaning that in its current state it is not acceptable as an article), not rejected (meaning that the subject is not worthy of an article). To establish that the subject is notable enough for an article, the sources needed to be cited in the article (preferably with bibliographical details of the sources, not just links), not listed here. And it's not enough for them to be reliable. As it says in that decline notice, they must also be independent (so not based on press releases) and contain in-depth discussion of the subject. Personal comment: when an article on a company says more about its rounds of funding than about its products, I suspect a WeWork-type scam. Maproom (talk) 07:24, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Why do we once again have another Alexander McQueen featured article?
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
This is getting ridiculous. Once again, we're got another Alexander McQueen articles as the featured article. The fact that he is featured so frequently, and over other various articles makes no sense. On the anniversary of Bloody Sunday-McQueen was the featured article. I find that deeply appalling. I have nothing against fashion artists, but no one person should be featured 5-6 times a year. 209.29.144.66 (talk) 12:39, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- There seems to be users who are invested in McQueen's work and as such try to get them to featured article status. There is no limit on how many articles in a certain group can be featured, though I believe there is care taken to try and space them out. - This has had extensive discussion before, you can read it here: Talk:Main Page/Archive 208#Alexander McQueen.
- You may be misunderstanding what a featured article is (which is the fault of wiki-terminology). Featured article is a status that an article can get, it does not mean that we are "featuring" it. The today's featured article section on the main page is simply working through all articles that have attained the status. Effort is taken to make sure that similar articles are spaced out, which the McQueen ones were. Nebman227 (talk) 14:36, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- Again, I have no issue with McQueen, legitimately interested in some of the exhibitions and have said as much in the past, but last year we had like 6, and it's well on its way again this year. 6-7 in a year is not spaced out. Like most people I'm sure, I'm on this daily. I have not seen this frequency with anything else. I just don't understand how the main page is simply working through all articles that have attained this status and yet I'm seeing repeats of McQueens, while other articles aren't as frequently shown. 209.29.144.66 (talk) 15:01, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Do mass changes require consesus?
Hello
i was disagreeing with an editor (User:Megainek) on a minor wording issue, but they have been making the exact same change to dozens of other pages. (Removing "long running" from the desciption of long running comics). I reverted some but they put it back. I also tried to talk to them about it on their talk page (here) and one of the work pages (here), but they didn't respond, reverted my changes and continue to make these changes. I also see on their talk page that someone last year asked them to stop making these changes but was also ignored
If I disagree with this mass change, where can i bring that up? I don't want to get into an edit war reverting everything back and forth, I just want to ask for a second opinion to decide if this is a good change to be making at all. Is there somewhere that can make this judgement call overall?

I would like to revert this edit, however there is a useful intervening edit. Is there any way other than manually redoing the useful edit? Stockhausenfan (talk) 21:21, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Not that I know of. The intervening edit was indeed a (rather trivially) beneficial one, but it wouldn't have been called for if the preceding, asinine edit (the one you rightly pointed to) hadn't been made. I've made the reversion. Thank you for bringing this stupidity to our attention (as it happened, to my attention) here. -- Hoary (talk) 22:08, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- There was an additional complication. The vandalized page was Talk:Argument from evolution. This of course accompanied Argument from evolution. However, Argument from evolution is a mere redirect to Evidence of common descent (and has been since 2006 (!)). So I have now deleted Talk:Argument from evolution. -- Hoary (talk) 22:44, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
wikipedia draft
im trying to make my wiki draft go faster, any tips 2601:CB:8000:1A40:61B4:B595:38C4:29E5 (talk) 21:25, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- If you are referring to the speed of the review, no, there is nothing that you can do to speed the process. 331dot (talk) 21:55, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Or are you asking about possible improvements to Draft:Duripsh, Abkhazia? If so, one example would be to specify the title -- or, if there isn't one, a description -- of each source that's currently referred to as just "Yandex". -- Hoary (talk) 22:22, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- I can't, I'm trying but it keeps saying Yandex, how can i fix it 2601:CB:8000:1A40:B1DD:113:1945:7C5D (talk) 13:32, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- If you're using the source editor, it should be easy. As an example, from "Yandex". yandex.com. Retrieved 2025-07-27. (currently reference 39) to "Замок Хаита в Горах". Yandex (in Russian). Retrieved 2025-07-30. If you're using the visual editor, I regret that I have no idea. (I have no experience whatever of the visual editor.) -- Hoary (talk) 21:32, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

- I hate to disagree with 331dot, he's very competent and I respect his work. But there is something you can do to make a speedy review more likely. When a reviewer looks at a submission, their first concern will be "does this article cite sources that establish the subject as notable?". When they find that there are 51 sources, and that the first two in English do not even mention Duripsh, they're unlikely to work through the others. They'll just leave it in the waiting list and find a better use for their time. So - get rid of almost all the 51 sources (and the content they support) , while retaining the ones establish the subject as notable. Once it's been accepted, you can put back the material that you removed. Maproom (talk) 06:53, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- It should not be necessary to remove valid content from an article to get it through AfC.
- If it is necessary to game the AfC system that way, then that system is broken. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:26, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- The OP specifically asked what they could do for a speedy review- shorter articles with less content are more likely to get a speedy review than a lengthy article with a great deal of content or sources, simply due to the time required to invest in reviewing them. This does not mean lengthy submissions are invalid to submit via AFC, but a speedy review is less likely if there is a backlog(as their usually is). The only way to decrease the backlog is to have more reviewers. 331dot (talk) 14:12, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
- but then I will have to remove a ton of stuff {because of citations} which I worked months for 2601:CB:8000:1A40:B1DD:113:1945:7C5D (talk) 13:37, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

- Maproom Feel free to disagree with me. :) Usually I interpret this question to be asking "I need/want it reviewed now! What can I do to get it looked at now?" and not "what can I do to increase the chances that, once looked at, it will be accepted quicker". 331dot (talk) 14:08, 29 July 2025 (UTC)

8.7 - 8.8 Earthquake in Russia Today
I have tried to mention this quake in that article, but it is locked down. There are tidal wave WARNINGS out all over the place, and the news outlets are still carrying this as of the timestamp shown here. Can someone place this? Bros
- Require Assistant as user ResolutionsPerMinute is disrupting "When Will I Be Famous? Page and other Bros related articles
Dear Team, I hope you are all well. I am having cited content reverted by user ResolutionsPerMinute. I am unsure why they pursue this line of action, as it's very unconstructive and very disruptive. They won't accept that the single charted at number 3 on the French single chart on the 12th June 1998, so I provide the link (https://tubesenfrance.com/annees-80/classements-de-1988/classement-du-12-juin-1988/). Can someone kindly assist, please? It is becoming quite distressing, and I do not want an edit war as this doesn't help anyone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucygeejones8 (talk • contribs) 16:44, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
- To add to the disruptive behaviour by Resolutionperminutes i have provide the correct cited link to Bros song "I Owe You Nothing " this charted at number 3 on French single chart on the 23rd October 1988 again i provided link (https://tubesenfrance.com/annees-80/classements-de-1988/classement-du-23-octobre-1988/) again i thank you the Tea house for guidance and assistant as edit wars are not useful. - Please stop putting personal attacks against other editors in your edit summaries, and start using article talk pages when you disagree with an editor about changes to an article. - You don't need to keep putting attacks against other editors in your edit summaries in order to learn how to cite correctly.
- But you should definitely start using article talk pages to discuss things (politely). MilesVorkosigan (talk) 18:54, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Page deletion
Link To Page Good Morning, I am wondering why my article titled George D. Ellsworth is nominated for deletion. I feel that it should be kept as I put a lot of work into it. Is there any way you can stop it from getting deleted or tell me how to stop it from getting deleted. It would be awesome if you could help it not get deleted as this is my first Wikipedia page creation. Thanks. LoganPollard331 (talk) 14:56, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- @LoganPollard331 You can add your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/George D. Ellsworth and at the same time improve the article if you can. The obvious deficiency is that it has only one source. not nearly enough to establish notability as defined in the way that Wikipedia uses that word Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:04, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- The article has zero indication of passing the criteria at WP:GNG. Theroadislong (talk) 15:10, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- I just added a few more links for references. Would this help it from getting deleted. LoganPollard331 (talk) 15:33, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Probably not. He seems to have been an utterly unremarkable soldier. Maybe you need to consider an alternative outlet? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:42, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- No.. Findagrave and ancestors.familysearch.org are NOT reliable independent sources, they are user edited so cannot be used. Theroadislong (talk) 15:43, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- So there pretty much nothing to do to stop it getting deleted. Most of the info I got for his page are my personal records of him because he is a family member of mine and is also related to another famous family member. Not to be annoying but I just don't understand why it NEEDS to be deleted. LoganPollard331 (talk) 15:53, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Because we don't have articles about everyone, only those that pass WP:GNG and your relative clearly doesn't. Theroadislong (talk) 16:01, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for putting a lot of work into Wikipedia! The sad thing is, there are a lot of things in the world, and not every one can be included into Wikipedia. As others have said, your article doesn't pass the Notability Guidelines WP:GNG - Wikipedia's rules for what is considered "famous" enough to be here. It's not about how the article is written, it's about what the article is about. Additionally, you aren't supposed to write about people you know - that's #5 in the guidelines. Good luck in the future, and thanks again. ~ mchen.tiger wyrms! (talk) 16:07, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @LoganPollard331. We don't actually allow personal records to be used as sources and we don't allow original source. Sources must be published and information must be verified. See Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Maybe a blog is a better venue? qcne (talk) 16:08, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, @LoganPollard331. The problem is one of verifiability. Because Wikipedia is the encyclopaedia that anyone can edit, even if the information you put in is all accurate, it may get changed - accidentally, or because somebody has more up-to-date research, or maliciously. A reader next month or next year may see something different - and unless there are citations to reliable sources, has no way to know if it's correct. (User-generated sources are not reliable, for exactly the same reason: because somebody might change them. Wikipedia itself is not acknowledged as a reliable source for the same reason).
- So Wikipedia prefers (and for new drafts being reviewed, reviewers usually require) that everything is cited to a reliable source - and if there are not adequate sources, then an article on the subject will not be accepted.
- I am mentioned in a Wikipedia article, and in a newspaper article which is cited in that article. But there is not enough information published about me to base a Wikipedia article on (so I am not notable). ColinFine (talk) 16:08, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you all for the help. LoganPollard331 (talk) 16:18, 31 July 2025 (UTC)

Help Request: Reopening Draft Submission
Hi Aaron Liu,
I hope you're doing well. I’ve seen your contributions in the AfC space and appreciate your commitment to supporting new article submissions — it truly makes a difference.
I'm currently working on *Draft:Oded Wagenstein* and have addressed the previous reviewer’s suggestions (including removing direct URLs) and made further improvements to tone and sourcing. I reached out to Itzcuauhtli11 four days ago, but since the “resubmit” button is no longer available, I haven’t been able to trigger a new review myself.
Would you be willing to kindly reopen the submission so it can be reviewed again?
Here’s the draft: Draft:Oded Wagenstein

- @Atlasofage I've restored the original decline notice, which should not have been removed. This will allow you to re-submit the draft after attending to reviewer comments. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:01, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, Mike, for reopening my draft submission.
- I have carefully addressed all the issues raised by the reviewers.
