The West Coast Group Representation Constituency was a five-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) located in the western and central areas of Singapore. The five divisions consisted of: Ayer Rajah-Gek Poh, West Coast, Boon Lay, Nanyang and Telok Blangah managed by West Coast Town Council. West Coast GRC covered the areas of Ayer Rajah, Dover, Pasir Panjang, the south-western area, West Coast, Jurong, Jurong Island, Sentosa, Telok Blangah, Tuas and much of Singapore's southern & western territorial waters and offshore islands.[1]
History
[edit]In 2006, prior to the 2006 general election, the GRC absorbed Ayer Rajah Single Member Constituency.[2]
In the 2011 general election, future Prime Minister Lawrence Wong made his debut in the GRC and the PAP team led by Lim Hng Kiang won the contest against the Reform Party. By 2014, three ministers came in the West Coast GRC[3]
In January 2024, Iswaran resigned from the PAP, the ministership for transport and his seat as Member of Parliament (MP) in the GRC after he was charged in the State Courts of Singapore with 27 charges relating to bribery and corruption.[4][5]
Following the 2025 Elections Boundary Review Committee's report, the majority of West Coast GRC was merged into West Coast–Jurong West GRC, along with the entire residential area of the Taman Jurong ward and most of the Jurong Spring ward from Jurong GRC. Telok Blangah and Dover estates were carved out and given to Tanjong Pagar GRC, while the estates of Harbourfront and Sentosa, as well as the Southern Islands, were given to Radin Mas SMC.[6][7][8]
