The Punggol West Single Member Constituency (SMC) was a Single Member Constituency located in the north-eastern area of Singapore from 2020 to 2025. It was managed by the defunct Pasir Ris — Punggol Town Council.[1] The constituency was absorbed into Punggol Group Representation Constituency upon the 2025 general election.

History

[edit]

The Punggol West SMC is a former ward of the Pasir Ris–Punggol Group Representation Constituency (GRC).[2] During the review of electoral boundaries in March 2020 in the run up to the 2020 Singaporean general election, Punggol West SMC was carved out of Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC. [2]

Tan Chen Chen of the Workers' Party (WP) contested the ward against the former MP of the former ward, Sun Xueling, during the 2020 elections.[3] Sun won the elections with 60.97% of the votes.[4]

In 2025, the SMC was absorbed into Punggol GRC as a ward after only a single term as its own constituency.[5]
