Reconstruction
[edit]Here and online, I cannot find answers to several important questions about the reconstruction.
How much of the original remained in 1950?
Is the reconstruction on the same site?
- A different site?
- What happened to the remains of the original?
Where did the materials come from?
- The original quarries?
Why did Greece agree to this?
- This question is germane only if the original was replaced.

Reconstruction or replica
[edit]Clearly the original building was not just in ruins, it had been destroyed and a wall built on the site. That would have rendered an accurate rebuilding virtually impossible. I would therefore question the statement that the reconstruction was "important in the study of ancient monuments because the reconstruction of 1952–1956 faithfully replicates the original building". Even if it faithfully replicated the original, which is unlikely, why would that be important in the study of ancient monuments?122.59.167.152 (talk) 21:38, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
