Aston Villa

[edit]

Carly Davies joined Aston Villa in 2001 at the age of 15 before being promoted to the senior team in 2003.[1] She made her debut for Aston Villa on 28 November 2004 during a 2–2 draw against Stockport County,[2] and she scored her first goal for Aston Villa on 23 January 2005 during a 4–1 win against Curzon Ashton.[3] She also played for the Aston Villa Reserves during the 2004–05 and 2008–09 seasons,[4] debuting during a 4–0 loss against Birmingham City Reserves on 5 September 2004.[5]

She won the 2010–11 FA Women's Premier League Northern Division and the 2012–2013 FA WNL Cup with the club.[6] She made a total of 130 appearances and scored 59 goals for Aston Villa between 2003 and 2018.

Coventry United

[edit]

Davies left Aston Villa to join local club Coventry United for the 2014–15 season.[7] Alongside Emma Hollingsworth, Davies was ineligibly fielded by Coventry City during two league fixtures in April 2015 against Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest which saw The FA deduct six points from the club.[8]

She scored her only goal for Coventry United on 12 April 2015 during the 6–4 win against Huddersfield Town.[9]

Solihull Moors

[edit]

She then joined West Midlands Regional Women's Football League Division One club Solihull in July 2015.[10] She debuted for Solihull Moors on 13 September 2015 during the 2–0 victory against Birmingham & West Midlands.[11] She scored her first four goals for Solihull on 2015 during the 4–3 win against Peterborough Northern Star.[12]

Aged 32, she retired after being substituted due to an injury she sustained during the first-half of the 3–1 loss against Long Eaton United on 2 May 2018.[13]

Managerial career

[edit]

Early coaching roles

[edit]

Davies gained her UEFA A Licence for coaching in 2020 and previously had coaching roles with England U19, West Bromwich Albion, and Aston Villa between 2020 and 2023.[14][15]

Nottingham Forest

[edit]

She was appointed as the manager of FA Women's National League club Nottingham Forest on 7 August 2023.[16]

During the same season in which the club first became professional, she led Nottingham Forest to the 2024–25 FA Women's National League title and also won the 2024–25 FA WNL Cup with the club.[17][18]
