Wiki Women in Red - a proposed User Group

[edit]

Having worked for 2 years editing articles for Women In Red, a group of organizers have concluded that sourcing is one of the biggest hurdles in creating articles on women and non-binary genders. Though it is true that a lot of sourcing simply doesn’t exist, it is also true that there are sources, but we have no access to them. As these groups did not typically become subjects for academic study until the 1970s, many of the sources are not on line or are behind paywalls. Failure to include women and non-binary people in the encyclopedia presents a one-dimensional view of society and history. To address those issues, we are forming a new User Group aimed at referencing and support for like-minded groups and would appreciate your input or input from your supporters in our organizational process. Women and the trail

[edit]

Hi !

Seeing your page, I thought it would be very interesting to participate. I am huge fan of running especially of trail. However, I have not seen a trail section here for women. We could include Emilie Forsberg which had many victories in the European and World Championships.

Let me know what you think about this

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone for this talk page is able to review my article draft for the surfer Patti Paniccia? The page has been under review for a while now (since I made many extensive edits), so I'm not sure how to proceed... Thank you!

There is a requested move discussion at Talk:Stacey Smith#Requested move 22 February 2025 that may be of interest to members of this WikiProject. TarnishedPathtalk 12:42, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Now that Kirsty Coventry has been elected as president of the International Olympic Committee, her biography is attracting wide attention. Her article is currently rated C class, mainly as a result of the lack of inline citations. If these could be improved, it could quickly be upgraded to B class and could perhaps become a candidate for GA. Any help from those familiar with the field would be appreciated.--Ipigott (talk) 09:38, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Tip of the month:

  • When creating biographies, don't forget to use Template:DEFAULTSORT.
Accessible from "Wiki markup" at the foot of the page being edited,
it allows categories to be listed under the subject's family name rather than their first or given name.

Moving the needle: (statistics available via Humaniki tool)

  • 24 Mar 2025: 20.070% of biographies on EN-WP are about women (2,057,083, 412,857 women)
  • 27 Jan 2025: 20.031% (2,047,793 bios, 410,200 women)

Thank you if you contributed one or more of the 2,657 articles during this period!
