Corcyra

[edit]

The page Corcyra redirects now to Corfu, but I think it should redirect to Korkyra (polis). Am I right? If so, should I change all of the links to Corcyra so they link to Corfu? פעמי-עליון (pʿmy-ʿlywn) - talk 21:23, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Corcyra" transliterates the ancient Greek name for both the polis and the island; someone typing Corcyra might be looking for either and since the island is the larger entity, I think it makes sense for it to be the target.
Incidentally, "Korkyra (polis)" should, according to WP:GREEK, be at Corcyra (polis) Furius (talk) 21:31, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with both posters above. Probably move Korkyra (polis)Corcyra (polis) instead. Ifly6 (talk) 04:03, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Did you mean "move Korkyra (polis) → Corcyra (polis)", since as Furius said, "Corcyra" by itself is more likely to refer to the island than the city of the same name. I would support that move, too. P Aculeius (talk) 05:17, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thanks for the correction. Ifly6 (talk) 18:51, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Translation help, Colossus article

[edit]

I have posted on the Talk page for the article on Colossus of Rhodes a question about handling what I believe to be a mistranslation of an Ancient Greek text. My full explanation is there, but my basic question is, "Is the translation there good enough, or should it be improved (and how)?" Fair warning: I'm not qualified to improve the translation, so someone else—either a fellow Wikipedian or someone I know personally—would need to help me. Greco-Roman world vs Classical antiquity

[edit]

I am considering proposing merging Category:Greco-Roman world to Category:Classical antiquity, as they seem to have largely overlapping scope, both contain Category:Ancient Greece + Category:Ancient Rome as their key components. Do you have any thoughts on this? Marcocapelle (talk) 16:53, 7 April 2025 (UTC) (signed later)[reply]

@Marcocapelle: you didn't sign your post. For background, Marcocapelle proposed this in 2016 and it was agreed, however Category:Greco-Roman world was recreated from redirect in 2022. TSventon (talk) 16:49, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move discussion: Latium Adjectum → Latium adiectum

[edit]

A move request has been opened to rename the article Latium Adjectum to Latium adiectum to reflect Wikipedia's style guidelines for Latin terms and scholarly usage. Input from members of this project would be appreciated:
