Sorry to remove your contribution to the above, but its content was largely (not entirely) unsourced, and came across more as an essay than an article. I thought at first it might be a copyright violation, derived from a lecture; it addresses the reader directly and is very discursive. Please try again, and pay attention to Wikipedia's basic requirements (see your welcome message). Haploidavey (talk) 07:41, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, in your recent edit to Ghana Code Club, you added links to an article which did not add content or meaning, or repeated the same link several times throughout the article. Please see Wikipedia's guideline on links to avoid overlinking. In this case, the problem is the excessive number of identical blue-links (to Ghana). You don't even really need that one link; it's a very well-known name and is easily looked up. Haploidavey (talk) 21:13, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Recent article creation

[edit]

Hi, many of your recent articles (such as Esther Stanford-Xosei and the Pan-African Reparations Agenda, Ta-Nehisi Coates and His Case for Reparations, Sir Hilary Beckles and the Fight for Caribbean Reparations, Queen Mother Audley Moore and the African Reparations Movement) suffer from the same issues: they have a vague title combining two different, related topics, very promotional wording, many unsourced paragraphs, and appear to have been written with the help of generative AI (both because of the writing itself and the very short timestamps between article creation). I invite you to address these issues before creating any further articles. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 19:45, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Ta-Nehisi Coates and His Case for Reparations is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ta-Nehisi Coates and His Case for Reparations until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

Request reason:

I respectfully request an unblock. I understand that there were concerns related to sockpuppetry and article quality.

However, I would like to clarify that I have only ever used one account and that is Tiisu Sharif — and have never created or edited with any other accounts or the said account Dalvin23 as claimed in the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Tiisu Sharif. I therefore believe that there is a mistake
I admit that I used AI tools to assist me in drafting articles like the one about Ta-Nehisi Coates and reparations. My goal was to highlight meaningful topics and authors, not to violate Wikipedia’s policies. I now understand that the content was seen as redundant and not in line with Wikipedia’s standards. I am deeply sorry for any inconviniences caused
I, Tiisu Sharif is committed to editing constructively, improving existing pages rather than creating overlapping ones.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Tiisu Sharif (talk) 12:52, 13 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Thank you for taking the time to clarify the situation in the section below. As you have provided evidence that shows that you are not the same person as Dalvin23, I have unblocked your account. I apologize for the hassle. — Newslinger talk 21:23, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tiisu Sharif, are your Wikipedia edits for a class assignment? We are trying to figure out why your edits overlapped with those of Dalvin23. Thank you. — Newslinger talk 14:35, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Appealing for an Unblock

[edit]

Hello Newslinger, i do not understand what you mean by " Class Assignment".

However, my edits might be overlapping with Dalvin23 because both of us are participants of the African Wiki Challenge 2025 , which is an anual Edit-a-thon organized Open Foundation West Africa. We are supposed to edit a list of articles. I therefore believe that is where the problem is comming from and not that i have multiple accounts.

Thank you User:Newslinger — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tiisu Sharif (talkcontribs) 18:01, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for clarifying, Tiisu Sharif. Based on your explanation, it was incorrect to conclude that you were the same editor as Dalvin23, and I apologize for the error. In the sockpuppet investigation, the key piece of evidence that was submitted is that both you and Dalvin23 used a large language model (LLM), such as an AI chatbot or similar tool, to create the now-deleted article Ta-Nehisi Coates and His Case for Reparations. Dalvin23 had been blocked for misusing LLMs.
Please note that LLMs are currently not able to generate content that consistently meets Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Additionally, LLM-generated comments are not appropriate in Wikipedia discussions, and can be collapsed and disregarded. In light of this, are you willing to commit to refrain from using LLMs in your Wikipedia editing? — Newslinger talk 20:33, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes.I am willing to commit to refrain from using LLMs in my wikipedia editing. Thank you very much. Tiisu Sharif (talk) 21:18, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am looking forward to developing a platform simillar to udemy however, its courses are going to be wikipedia related curses. Users can enroll in courses, track their progress and earn certificates after completing a course. The courses are going to be completely free. I will collaborate with experieced wikipedia editors to create the courses. What do you think about a system like that Tiisu Sharif (talk) 21:46, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think this would be something editors may find helpful. Your idea sounds similar to the WikiEdu training modules, although those lessons are specifically tailored to students, instructors, and professionals, and I don't think they provide certificates. If you want to get feedback about your idea from more editors, I recommend posting it at Wikipedia:Village pump (idea lab). — Newslinger talk 22:13, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Once again. Thank you. Tiisu Sharif (talk) 22:38, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please also note that since we already have articles about both Ta-Nehisi Coates and The Case for Reparations, there's absolutely no need whatsoever for a third article that combines those two things into a single topic separately from the two articles that we already have. So please also choose article topics more carefully. Bearcat (talk) 20:52, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well noted. Thank you Tiisu Sharif (talk) 21:18, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There's a communication issue here, and I don't think it's your fault. The organizers of the Africa Wiki Challenge 2025 should ideally encourage participants to disclose on their Wikipedia user page that they are involved in the event, so that they are not accused of sockpuppetry or improperly coordinating edits. Also, in the AWC List of Articles, some of the topics with longer names would not warrant standalone articles per the English Wikipedia's guidelines, and many of them are named in a way that does not meet our article titles policy. I understand that the event is international, but the list provides links to edit articles under those exact names, and I'm afraid that is causing participants to run into issues.
Would it be possible to provide this feedback to the event organizers, to help ensure that the event runs more smoothly in future years? — Newslinger talk 21:30, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yh sure. I Will share this with them. Tiisu Sharif (talk) 21:48, 17 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi voorts, Tiisu Sharif posted their idea on the village pump idea lab in response to my advice above. While the prototype of the home page appears to use a website template designed for paid courses, Tiisu Sharif has said in the above conversation that "The courses are going to be completely free." I hadn't seen your comment before removing the idea lab post. I can't think of a more appropriate place. It also has fake reviews up and claims to be endorsed by the WMF. voorts (talk/contributions) 16:05, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Tiisu Sharif, I think it would be better to develop your project further before going back to the idea lab. I understand that the prototype home page is a mockup, but as voorts explained, the page comes across as misleading to anyone who doesn't know this is a work in progress, so I recommend removing the testimonials and other claims on the page that don't reflect the project in its current state. While a landing page would eventually be important for introducing others to the project, I believe you would receive more useful feedback once there is at least one lesson or course that others can interact with, so I suggest prioritizing the course itself over the landing page.
If you're in contact with the folks at Open Foundation West Africa, perhaps they can provide some input on the kind of learning material that would be most valuable for editors participating in events like the Africa Wiki Challenge 2025. And if you have any questions about Wikipedia or need any information to move forward with the course content, you're always welcome to ask me on my user talk page. Thanks and good luck with the project. — Newslinger talk 19:40, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well noted.
I will work on all the courses and get back to you. The project is about 80% completed so i will just finish it and remove all the dummy data. Tiisu Sharif (talk) 09:09, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To be upfront, I think you will have a hard time getting editors to buy into this project. You were just blocked for your AI use, you had a draft deleted via MfD (a rare occurrence), and you only have two live articles in mainspace (one of which, Esther Stanford-Xosei, appears to be quite promotional in tone). There are already existing wiki-education outlets. If your goal is to get folks in West Africa trained, I would recommend trying to get those existing outlets to help out rather than forming your own external training tool. voorts (talk/contributions) 16:36, 19 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You are absolutely right. I joined the wiki space last year so I am not very much experienced. So I am looking forward to getting experienced editors to create the courses.
For now, I just want to be sure that the idea is good and editors will be willing to use it. Tiisu Sharif (talk) 01:02, 20 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
