Don’t pretend to be one. I never edited anything about Israel defending itself. Mistletoe-alert (talk) 16:45, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Mistletoe-alert:
  1. You do not need to be an admin to introduce someone to a contentious topic.
  2. The notice clearly says This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
  3. You are not extended-confirmed (30 days of activity + 500 edits). Please stray away from editing the Palestine/Israel topic until then.
  4. Your edit to Nerdeen Kiswani was related to I/P, as the subject is a pro-Palestine activist. Me informing you of the topic was in good faith, and is not vandalism or disruptive editing.

Please undo edit

[edit]

On the Wiki page of Judge Eugene R. Sullivan your edit removed the caption that the image of the Judge is hanging in the U.S. courthouse. This caption is important because the image is of a painted portrait not a digital photo of the Judge. Without this caption some readers may wonder the source of the image and having a portrait hanging in a federal courthouse is a distinction that not all judges receive. Please undo. Thank you. Absent.Editor (talk) 22:59, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Wikipedia:Sandbox

[edit]

Hello User:LunaEclipse,

Although I'm not an admin, I saw you once file a protection request for Wikipedia:Sandbox (which has now been inadvertently removed due to an edit conflict by a bot soon after). I then noticed that you had not only been reverting users for using the sandbox, but also warning them. Well, I'd like to inform you that the sandbox is the page that editors are supposed to make test edits in and experiment with Wikipedia editing tools. It even says in that warning notice you posted, "If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox." I strongly advise you to leave sandbox edits alone (a bot will automatically clean up the sandbox later), and definitely don't warn editors for making tests in the sandbox - it's a bit like honking and throwing insults at a learning car driver for making a small mistake. Admins definitely will not protect the sandbox nor block users for doing experimentational edits there.

The only kind of edits that aren't allowed in the sandbox, as it says in the header at the top, are: "promotional, copyrighted, offensive, or libellous content". That's it. Hope that makes sense.

Speedy deletion nomination of List of Cancelled PC games

[edit]

Hello LunaEclipse,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of Cancelled PC games for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want List of Cancelled PC games to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Doug Weller, the script I use to alert people (AlertAssistant) bugged out and sent the alert twice, so I removed one of them; Selbs then removed the remaining notice. I assure you there is no foul play here. I didn't know who Selbs was until I found out they were contributing heavily to the D.O.G.E. article. — 🌙Eclipse (she/they/it/other neostalkedits) 12:05, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I never even considered foul play, just confused and wondered what had happened. I didn't know about the script but it sounds like something to avoid? Or does it usually work? Do you recommend it? Thanks. Doug Weller talk 12:43, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Doug Weller, I'd recommend the script. It usually works but it can send the alert twice on some occasions, which can be annoying (I've contacted the dev about it, hoping that they answer), — 🌙Eclipse (she/they/it/other neostalkedits) 13:10, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya

[edit]

It is not helpful to strike through established goodfaith users comments with "not a forum" as a reason. There is consensus that that is not desirable because it causes a lot of trouble and fixes no real problem. And the Talk:Killing_of_David_Maland#Motive_for_shooting_at_Maland section was aimed at adding the motive to the article if any can be found in reliable sources (although it got a bit derailed), so there is no reason to add {{atop}} and {{abot}}. I do not recommend touching comments by goodfaith users on talkpages unless absolutely necessary, because people often react really angry and it almost never helps us reach our goal of writing an encyclopedia. WP:TPO explains: It is not necessary to bring talk pages to publishing standards, so there is no need to copy edit others' posts. Doing so can be irritating. The basic rule, with exceptions outlined below, is to not edit or delete others' posts without their permission.... Striking out text with ... or {{{1}}} or marking text as deleted with ... constitutes a change in meaning. It should be done only by the user who wrote it, or as otherwise provided in this talk page guideline. Thanks, Polygnotus (talk) 21:27, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question on edit

[edit]

Hi, you recently edited this page, undoing an edit I had done on 19 February, which I thought I had justified. Could you please let me know why? I'm new to this so maybe I've not done things correctly? Thank you Rbvcbzal (talk) 15:51, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rbvcbzal, the common names policy says that we should use the most common name in articles; in this case, the term "Rwandan genocide" is more recognizable than "1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda" as the former is used more by sources we consider reliable. — 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neostalkedits) 17:05, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter

[edit]

The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.

Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
