I have sent you a note about a page you started
[edit]Hi JohnMizuki. Thank you for your work on Bernardino Scardeone. Another editor, Ingratis, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thank you for creating the article. I noticed that it includes translation of part of the equivalent article on it:Wiki. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this! quite the contrary. However, translations from other Wikis do need to be attributed (I've done that for this article). Take a look at Help:Translation § Licensing for further information. Best wishes.
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Ingratis}}
. (Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)
@Ingratis: There must be a misunderstanding, I didn't translate from the Italian article, as it is unsourced.
- I'm sorry if I've misunderstood. The section "Early life" in the English article is extremely similar to the first two paragraphs of the section "Origini e formazioni" in the Italian one. May I take it that you translated from the Dizionario biografico? The Italian article does also acknowledge this as a source (in fact, its only source), although not in the form of an inline citation. Ingratis (talk) 12:53, 12 April 2025 (UTC)

~ L 🌸 (talk) 16:47, 12 April 2025 (UTC)Is this translated from the equivalent article on the Spanish Wikipedia? if so, would you please add the attribution as above, as I see you have recently been doing to your other translations.
For clarity, translation from other Wikipedias is fine as long as it is correctly attributed (but see below). Copying or translating from public domain sources is similarly fine if attributed. Copying, translating or close paraphrasing from copyright sources (such as the Treccani website, for example) is not OK - WP:CLOSEPARAPHRASE. This also applies to articles on other Wikipedias if they are copyright violations. Ingratis (talk) 12:54, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- Hi. I wrote both articles, the one in Spanish and the one in English. JohnMizuki (talk) 12:57, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
