Adding gaming distros in the main article

[edit]

What are your thoughts on including a section for Linux gaming distros like mGame, SteamOS, Ubuntu GamePack, Lakka etc? They're a big part of what Linux gaming is and a list would be quite helpful. Here's an example list: https://thishosting.rocks/best-linux-distros-for-gaming/

Self-published and group blog citations?

[edit]

I've tagged some obvious self-published citations, and saw GamingonLinux.com is cited several times, but looks like a group blog. They call people editors, but it seems used as a synonym for author. I'll be tagging the article. -- Yae4 (talk) 21:45, 15 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Linux adoption" removed as arbitrary list

[edit]

I've removed the huge laundry list that made up the "Linux adoption" section. It was an arbitrary and WP:INDISCRIMINATE list of random examples. Few sources were provided, and those that were werely almost exclusively WP:SPS without any independent indication of notability for being mentioned. Wikipedia isn't a WP:DIRECTORY. If someone wants to create an article of notable Linux games, then go do that. Otherwise, this bloated an already long article. --ZimZalaBim talk 04:09, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial games for non-x86 instruction sets

[edit]

Please don't remove it. That is the main difference between Linux gaming and other systems like Windows and Mac.

Windows for computers with Sparc processors doesn't exist, and companies didn't port any commercial games for old versions of Windows NT like PowerPC and Alpha.

Mac OS X for computers with Alpha and Sparc processors doesn't exist. Mac OS X was available for PowerPC in the past. However, some versions of PowerPC games for Linux don't have versions for Mac OS X. Some games for Mac were more outdated than Linux versions because they worked only on Mac OS 9 or didn't have any expansions. 89.151.41.252 (talk) 14:11, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
