"Double-Nosed Andean tiger hound"

[edit]

I've re-targeted the redirect from this silly made-up name for a couple of dogs with split noses to South American dogs and removed the mention of it from this page – I've just no idea why anyone might have thought that redirecting it here was a good plan, but no matter. Fyunck(click), PrinceTortoise, is that OK with you? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:06, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Justlettersandnumbers: I'm fine with that. It now probably needs to be mentioned on the South American dogs article since it's a proper search term and links there. Plus that's a more general article on dogs in the area. I'm guessing someone thought it a good fit since the dog is thought to be descended from the Pachon Navarro, though I've never seen proof of that. @Justlettersandnumbers and Fyunck(click): I agree that South American dogs is a better redirect target than Pachón Navarro. I tried fitting a mention of the double-nosed Andean tiger hound into the history section of the South American dogs article. If that works, then South American dogs#History might be a better target. But if that's not the best place to mention the breed, I have no issue with my edit being reverted. PrinceTortoise (he/himpokeinspect) 21:51, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PrinceTortoise: That's great. My first glance before your edit I was thinking to put it under "modern dogs" or perhaps another section titled "rare dogs." The trouble there was putting in it's own section of "rare dogs" (where it would be a singularity) I felt gave it too much prominence. I was going to think on it and then your post here popped up. My only criticism of your addition would be the sentence "a Spanish breed of hunting dog with a double nose." The Pachón Navarro only occasionally has a double nose... it is not the norm and we wouldn't want readers to think otherwise. So maybe "occasionally exhibits a double nose." I must say that what started as a disagreement here, all parties worked to solve the situation rather than what often happens at Wikipedia. Thanks for the update. @Fyunck(click): Thanks for noticing the inaccuracy. I've clarified the statement in the article. Does everything look good to you? PrinceTortoise (he/himpokeinspect) 00:24, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm good with it if everyone else is. Time will tell on whoever tends to monitor that article. I had never seen it till this discussion. Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 00:39, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
