First publication in magazines
[edit]Many of the short stories were first published in magazines, well ahead of their inclusion in the books. The date of the first appearance and the name of the publication, both in the UK and the US, would be significant. Valetude (talk) 09:51, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
- I have added magazine publication names and dates. (I realize Valetude's comment is several years old – from before I was on Wikipedia!) I kept the list ordered by book publication, but made it possible to sort by magazine publication too. Miles26 (talk) 03:07, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
The World of Jeeves
[edit]I've just bought this in a second-hand shop. It's a collection of 34 Jeeves stories, 564 pages, originally published by Herbert Jenkins in 1967, reprinted by Hutchinson in 1980. The blurb says "This complete collection of the Jeeves stories ...". It's not mentioned in the article. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 08:41, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- @JackofOz: I have a paperback copy right here, ISBN 978-0-09-951423-7. It has 774 pages, and says "Published by Arrow Books 2008" and also "This collection first published in the United Kingdom in 1967 by Herbert Jenkins Ltd". There are 34 stories, as follows:
- "Jeeves Takes Charge"
- "Jeeves in the Springtime"
- "Scoring off Jeeves"
- "Sir Roderick Comes to Lunch"
- "Aunt Agatha Takes the Count"
- "The Artistic Career of Corky"
- "Jeeves and the Chump Cyril"
- "Jeeves and the Unbidden Guest"
- "Jeeves and the Hard-boiled Egg"
- "The Aunt and the Sluggard"
- "Comrade Bingo"
- "The Great Sermon Handicap"
- "The Purity of the Turf"
- "The Metropolitan Touch"
- "The Delayed Exit of Claude and Eustace"
- "Bingo and the Little Woman"
- "The Rummy Affair of Old Biffy"
- "Without the Option"
- "Fixing it for Freddie"
- "Clustering Round Young Bingo"
- "Jeeves and the Impending Doom"
- "The Inferiority Complex of Old Sippy"
- "Jeeves and the Yule-tide Spirit"
- "Jeeves and the Song of Songs"
- "Episode of the Dog McIntosh"
- "The Spot of Art"
- "Jeeves and the Kid Clementina"
- "The Love That Purifies"
- "Jeeves and the Old School Chum"
- "Indian Summer of an Uncle"
- "The Ordeal of Young Tuppy"
- "Bertie Changes His Mind"
- "Jeeves Makes an Omelette"
- "Jeeves and the Greasy Bird"
- It's not a complete collection: "Extricating Young Gussie" is omitted, probably because Jeeves is only a minor character, but all of the other 34 stories listed at P. G. Wodehouse short stories bibliography#Jeeves are present, although not in the same order. "Jeeves Takes Charge" is placed in its logical position at the start, several of the others are chronological, but the overall ordering isn't entirely clear. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:24, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
