Misspelling of Basel's name

[edit]

In production, Basel's name is misspelled here:

The military entered Basal’s home twice and confiscated computers and cameras. So we were always very, very stressed. It was complicated logistically and quite stressful, but in the end we managed.

This should be corrected.

the misspelling is present in the Variety article that is quoted here. i added [sic] to the quote. Rainsage (talk) 00:42, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Description of suggested change: The West Bank should be described as the "occupied West Bank." Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967.

Is there Any Criticism associated with this Movie/Topic?

[edit]

mostly just asking, because it sounds sus to say a Documentary about Israeli/Palestinians has no detractors or Criticisms associated with it. 2600:1008:B154:816C:F9B8:D49:F987:80C9 (talk) 04:46, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your google search for this is a good as would be mine! If you find good sources for this, please tell. Lova Falk (talk) 06:57, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is noteworthy criticism - not from film critics, but from political figures. Several Israeli government officials have condemned the film, requesting that it be prevented from screening abroad, on the allegation that it is anti-Israel propaganda. Meanwhile, PACBI has called for the BDS movement to boycott the film as “normalization” propaganda, prompting a rebuttal from Yuval Abraham and Basel Adra’s employers at ‘’+972 Magazine’’, citing multiple Palestinian community leaders and activists in the Masafer Yatta region documented in the film repudiating PACBI’s condemnation. All of this seems noteworthy! 96.248.86.161 (talk) 22:03, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It was not met with a "quiet silence". I have never seen such tepid handwringing before. LamontCranston (talk) 03:29, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, can that sentence be removed? It's unclear what the implication is supposed to be. In the cited article it sounds like it was a stunned, sympathetic silence, not criticism. It doesn't add anything to the "criticism" section. Mgolden (talk) 04:31, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed this sentence, see edit request below. Lova Falk (talk) 06:27, 11 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Description of suggested change: The 'Criticism' section claims "The filmmakers' Oscars acceptance speeches were met with a quiet audience." This is demonstrably untrue based on videos freely available online. It is also not what the cited source says. The author of the source states: "The room in which I was watching fell silent as the No Other Land team accepted the award." This is referring to the room where the author watched the Oscars not the Dolby Theater where the Oscars were held. This sentence should be removed. Diff:

It is true that the source does not say that the audience in the Dolby Theater was silent. To be totally sure, I also watched the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QplPq-_xTaU. The audience was not very loud but they were not quiet. There were rounds of applause. So I have removed the sentence.

Two quick c/e requests, please

[edit]

1) Just below the two long blockquotes in the 'Controversies' section we get >>The Berlinale also featured other numerous pro-Palestine protests<<. One adjective of 'other numerous' could profitably be removed -- take your pick, or recast.

2) All the way down at the section 'Settler attacks on directors' co-director Basel Adra's last name is misspelled in the sentence >>In February 2025, Arda was beaten by Israeli settlers . . . <<

Tiny details, I know, but I'd appreciate any help with either issue as you deem fit. Thanks for your attention. Iandiareii (talk) 19:18, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
