Murshidabad violence → 2025 Murshidabad violence – The proposed title "2025 Murshidabad violence" aligns with Wikipedia's naming conventions for events, particularly those involving communal or political unrest. Including the year provides clear disambiguation from other possible incidents in the same region, and matches the format used in similar articles such as 2020 Delhi riots and 2023 Manipur violence. ― ᱚᱨᱤᱡᱤᱛ ✉ 06:16, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:AINTBROKE. We avoid unnecessary disambiguation in article titles. If a reader wants to search for violence in Murshidabad in 2025, they sure aren't going to start with 2025. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 10:26, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. However, many similar articles follow the "[Year] [Place] events" format, like 2017 Berkeley protests and 2013 Bangladesh violence. Adding the year provides clear context and helps distinguish this incident from others in the same region. While there is no past or known future incident in Murshidabad to cause confusion, the year still adds clarity and consistency. It's not just about how people search — the move aligns with established naming patterns per WP:NCE. ― ᱚᱨᱤᱡᱤᱛ ✉ 12:47, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
- There's no need to CRYSTALBALL a future episode of violence in Murshidabad. There have been other Berkeley protests and violence in Bangladesh. There has been no other notable equivalent for this event. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 17:43, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose - agree with Chicdat. As the nominator has said in their replies, there are no notable equivalents of this event in any past years. If there are any notable equivalents of this event in the future, a disambiguation may be of essence - but as it is right now, this is only one event of notable significance.

Claim of exodus of more than 500 Hindus
[edit]@Levixius: Before adding this extraordinary claim to the lead, you should cite extraordinarily reliable sources WP:EXTRAORDINARY, not YouTube videos, especially because it is a contentious topic. Also, you should not directly add this to the first paragraph of the lead without consensus. First, add it to the body of the article, and then you may summarize it in the lead, but not in the first paragraph. GrabUp - Talk 05:30, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- As far as I have searched, every source refers to a BJP leader for the claim, which is not reliable at all. If you have multiple reliable, independent sources that make the claim independently without referring to the BJP leader, then you may re-add it; otherwise, it will be removed. GrabUp - Talk 05:36, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- When a group of people are forced to change places forcefully, and when it is ethnically motivated, it is called an exodus. There are official sources saying that the people moved out of Murshidabad and took shelter in a school in Malda. Some of them have been put into shelter homes too. The Hindus are the minority population of that place, and they have been forces to relocate from their bases. If this isn't exodus, I do not know what is. 103.242.199.120 (talk) 17:41, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Read what I said, cite a source which is reliable, and independently claims this, which do not cite BJP politicians. GrabUp - Talk 05:11, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

- It seems so. Although I haven't checked the article myself.

Done, thanks for providing the citation, I have included this to the article. GrabUp - Talk 09:55, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

- @9ninety: Already added. What new things to be added? GrabUp - Talk 12:37, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what the issue was about in the first plac, we have multiple independent sources confirming the exodus. LΞVIXIUS💬 14:18, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Levixius: You were adding a YouTube video to a Extraordinary claim, per WP:EXTRAORDINARY, extraordinary claims requires extraordinary sources, not YouTube videos. GrabUp - Talk 15:03, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Levixius: This thing is already added to the article’s body and the 2nd paragraph of the lead. Then why you are again adding this to the first paragraph? GrabUp - Talk 15:07, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
- @GrabUp So, it means that if something has been said by someone associated with BJP, it's not authentic, but everyone else is? Brucemorgan231 (talk) 17:59, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Brucemorgan231: On Wikipedia, the only reliable sources are independent news articles, books, and journals, as determined by consensus. If the media cites BJP, Congress, TMC, or their spokespersons, we include it in the 'Reactions' section to show how they responded. However, we do not accept such statements as facts unless they are independently verified by reliable sources. GrabUp - Talk 18:04, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

West bengal CMs assurance
[edit]Despite assurances from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that the Act would not be enforced in West Bengal, demonstrations intensified, particularly in Murshidabad district.
This needs more context because according to Indian constitution states cannot simply not apply a law made by the central government i.e. passed by the Parliment of India. So in short her assurances were hollow. DataCrusade1999 (talk) 10:04, 16 April 2025 (UTC)
Request Move
[edit]I propose renaming this article to 2025 Murshidabad violence for clarity, consistency, and alignment with Wikipedia's naming conventions for events. The addition of the year helps to disambiguate it from any past or future incidents in the same region, and "violence" is a neutral, descriptive term often used for such events. Similar articles, such as 2020 Delhi riots or 2023 Manipur violence, following this format. ― ᱚᱨᱤᱡᱤᱛ ✉ 00:07, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Arijit Kisku: Read WP:RSPM to start a requested move. Your requested movie is not complete with the {{subst:}}. GrabUp - Talk 05:24, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
- I got it. Thanks 😃 ― ᱚᱨᱤᱡᱤᱛ ✉ 06:12, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
