How is Magdalena Bay (band) updated so fast
[edit]I am amazed that the page on this band I love is updated so fast. I really want to contribute to this article, but things like song releases aren't easily added, because they're already there! Props to all editors who've contributed thus far. 💖 Xan ✨ talk 05:38, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
Re-vamping the article for the release of "Imaginal Disk"
[edit]Hi all!
As Magdalena Bay are gearing up to release their second studio album, Imaginal Disk, I've been thinking of revamping the "Career" section of their Wikipedia page to organize the different eras and albums more clearly - without the feeling of too much information being crammed into a single section.
It's probably best divided into a section about the band's origins; then a section focusing on Day/Pop and Night/Pop, along with the first two Mini Mixes, as well as A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling. After that there could be a section about Mercurial World and possibly the third Mini Mix, after which would be a section about Imaginal Disk which can be updated more thoroughly upon the album's impending release.
I'm very new to editing Wiki pages so I'll be drawing inspiration from the articles of indie artists of similar size, like Chvrches, Caroline Polachek, and Kero Kero Bonito. Feel free to suggest others.
I didn't want to make a bunch of drastic changes without consulting the community first, especially as I have not been an editor here for a long time at all, but I'd love to expand the information about Magdalena Bay's career and make sure said information is up-to-date and accurate.
If anyone's reading this, I'd love to hear what you think, so feel free to reply to this topic and we can discuss more. Much love to y'all! Beanrollup (talk) 02:35, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. Moved to Magdalena Bay (duo). (non-admin closure) cyberdog958Talk 03:58, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
Magdalena Bay (band) → Magdalena Bay (duo) – To be consistent with the descriptor seen throughout the article and in all reliable sources used there. WP:DUO says both "(band)" and "(duo)" could be used in the title, but "(duo)" is more pertinent per WP:COMMONNAME, given that no sources call them a band. "Duo" is also used in their official descriptions e.g. Apple Music, and as a disambiguator in GA-class articles including Trout Fishing in America (duo). A similar case happened with Capital Cities, which was moved recently after a discussion. CatchMe (talk) 03:08, 20 December 2024 (UTC)

Split article to Magdalena Bay discography

Magdalena Bay (duo) → Magdalena Bay discography – Discography section is long enough for a separate article.

- Support: Size of section far outweighs the size of the rest of the article (which is a lot shorter than I would've expected given the popularity of the group). Their discog isn't huge yet, with just two albums and a list of other assorted releases, but it's only going to get bigger so I don't think this would hurt. - Support – I agree that it is disproportionate. CatchMe (talk · contribs) 03:36, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Support: They are quite consistent with releases as well. A new project is most likely coming in 2025 so it makes sense to make the move now. Pxlpixx (talk) 19:31, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Discography section
[edit]@CatchMe RE Special:Diff/1283017628/1283018560: I understand that ordinarily EPs don't go in the discography section, but when a band has only two studio albums and one notable EP, I think we should IAR for reader convenience. voorts (talk/contributions) 23:32, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure is it notable enough for inclusion here (at least compared to the albums), and I think it wouldn't make much sense to just pick one of all EPs. Other artists have more notable EPs and these are not included on the main page (Gracie Abrams, for example). Also, I think it would give the false impresion that A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling is a studio album too. CatchMe (talk · contribs) 23:45, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- Notability doesn't determine what items we include in a list. The content of other articles also isn't relevant to what we include in the discography section. Finally, the casual reader of Wikipedia doesn't know our WikiProject style advice for discography sections; in any event, any potential for confusion can be remedied by adding EP to the year parenthetical. voorts (talk/contributions) 23:54, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- You were the one who mentioned the "one notable EP", that's why I'm saying including only one EP when they have six is not very logical, besides including them seems already unnecessary. CatchMe (talk · contribs) 06:37, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- I mentioned it was notable as short hand for it's a blue link, not a red link. When there's only three things to link to, why arbitrarily exclude one? voorts (talk/contributions) 15:25, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- Just because they're not the same. CatchMe (talk · contribs) 21:17, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- Actually, I think we could add the singles as well, as follows:
- Discography
- Mercurial World (2021)
- Imaginal Disk (2024)
Albums
- EPs and singles
- A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling (2020)
- "Death & Romance" (2024)
- "Image" (2024)
- MOS:DISCOGSECTION says that "[i]n most cases", discography sections should only list studio albums, but the example it gives is Mariah Carey, who has 15 plus a whole article on her singles. Listing all five of the articles we have on Magdalena Bay works is useful for readers and not excessive. voorts (talk/contributions) 21:29, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- I think it should be "Select EPs and singles" if you think that's useful. CatchMe (talk · contribs) 03:58, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
