Add MultiVersus to this list?

[edit]

As per IGN, WB Games stated that the game "significantly underperformed", leading to a $100 million loss. But I wanted to bring this to a discussion first before adding it to the list. MannysMyName (talk) 04:10, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Word now out that Player First Games is being shut down with a few other studios, so likely yes. [1] Masem (t) 19:24, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Funko Fusion

[edit]

Funko Fusion is a 2024 cross-over action game primarily centred around Funko POP toys from popular IPs. Despite having brand power like Jurassic World, FNAF, Mega Man, Wicked, and Back to The Future, the game was a complete critical and financial failure.

Grim Fandango + Concord

[edit]

i feel like the part on concord mentioning why it failed does a terrible job of informing the reader, as the reasoning is not at all what 99% of people would end up giving. Branding it just a marketing fail or a saturated hero shooter market without mentioning the extreme critique the game received for its character design and lack of stand out features seem dishonest. Basically anyone interested in gaming had heard of Concord, its just that no one had heard a single positive thing. That alone goes to argue it wasn't a marketing problem.

when it comes to grim fandango i think it could be worth putting some emphasis on how incredibly highly rated the game is by fans of the genre and by game reviewers too, it would be an interesting inclusion considering its listed as a commercial failure. for example i know PC Gamer Sweden listed Grim Fandango in the top 5 slots of "Best games of all time" (usually as #1) for multiple years in the early 2000s, and in the rankings by the readers of the magazine instead of its reviewers it still secured top 20 place every single year. ive seen other outlets rate it similarly. 176.10.137.199 (talk) 06:02, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a sentence to Concord on the design/gameplay blandness. On Grim Fandango, we already say first it was praised by critics and won awards, and WP tends to avoid user polls because of how they can be weighed. Masem (t) 12:09, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Undawn

[edit]

I have temporarily taken off the Undawn entry that was added. It likely does belong, but it used poor sourcing and didn't get to the impact it had, which is what this Reuters article covers. I'd like to see more before adding it back though on being a failure that doesn't just rely back to this Reuters source. Masem (t) 01:06, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
