Fine Arts Bldg
[edit]Why is the Fine Arts Building not listed in the table but relegated to the bottom? Speciate 00:12, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Emporis lists buildings in the district. I assume this is a list of official contributing properties. I am not sure. See the emporis link noted in the first column of the table. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 17:18, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
one-sided street?
[edit]What is a "one-sided street"? I assume it has something to do with buildings only being on one side of the street? That doesn't seem to be evident from the term alone, though. Is "one-sided street" something people actually say? Foxmulder 00:26, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- My interpretation of the word is that it means a street with architectural development on only one side. The other side would either be undeveloped or landscaped. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 17:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
GA nomination review
[edit]Upon reviewing the article against the GA criteria, I found some issues; some minor, some not.
In the lead, "In addition, this section Michigan Avenue includes the point recognized as the end of U.S. Route 66." - Is there a word missing before or after "section"?
Criteria 3a requires that the article be broad in its coverage. I don't feel this article covers much. There is a brief mention of the great fire, but no details of it. There really isn't that much history included in the history section at all. Although I'm not familiar with the topic, it seems there may be some aspects not covered.
I have decided to put this article on hold for no more than seven days. I'd like to discuss the article with the custodian(s) to get an idea of any possible additional information that could be added. LaraLoveT/C 05:45, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I have added almost all that I have learned about the district since writing the original Historic Michigan Boulevard District article. The other thing I could do is write some text about the buildings in the district. I can't think of much more to add.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 14:24, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Your first ref states "As the location of many significant cultural institutions, clubs, hotels, and prestigious office buildings, the district played a decisive role in the social, economic, and cultural history of the city." Possibly you could name some of these buildings and expand on how they effected the city socially, economically, and culturally. This, of course, would involve research into each of those buildings, although this may give you the opportunity to add to your list of written articles. LaraLove 22:11, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- Most of these artifacts are referenced in the table at the bottom or the footnotes describing buildings not included. I will see what I may add.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 18:55, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Could the information regarding the Great Chicago fire possibly be briefly expanded to include a short emplanation as to what happened to the Boulevard and possibly explain why the name change occurred at that point? Past that, I feel the recent additions have addressed my concerns of broadness and thus the article, in my opinion, now meets GA standards. Thank you for your hard work. In improving this article you have helped improve Wikipedia. Regards, LaraLove 15:21, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

GA concerns
[edit]I am concerned that this article no longer meets the good article criteria. Some of my concerns are listed below:
- There are some uncited statements, including an entire paragraph
- The "History" section seems to stop at 1920: although there are some statements about "today", there seems to be an empty gap on several decades of history.
- The "Today" section is cited to 2008 information. I think this article needs to be updated, and this section renamed to avoid MOS:CURRENT concerns.
Is anyone interested in fixing up this article, or should this go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 23:09, 22 January 2025 (UTC)
