It appears that the “Great Wall of China” was not so much for defense but to control and watch its own people, it is not built surrounding any area but along mountain riges as though separating towns and villages, it is not continuous and has access ramps on both sides! "The article provides a valuable overview of the Great Wall, but I believe more emphasis should be placed on the evolving functions of the wall over time. While the wall is often seen as a military defense structure, it also served as a symbol of imperial power and as a control mechanism for trade and immigration, particularly during the Ming dynasty. Could we expand the discussion on the wall’s role in facilitating or hindering the Silk Road trade, and perhaps address the contradictions in its historical significance across different periods?"
