Custom Night Should be Mentioned in Gameplay Section

[edit]

This is a shoutout to The Night Watch, who has been watching this page frequently and made notable contributions in order to make the page eligible to be featured. Congratulations for getting the article featured.

However, I believe that the Custom Night should be mentioned not just in the plot section but the gameplay section as well. I have been trying to find sources that are reliable, which has been a notable struggle for both me and Night Watch (how there are sources which are not user generated and never mention custom night is quite beyond me). However, I was wondering if BigBug's YouTube video of the first 4/20 mode completion should be a source. I know YouTube videos are generally unreliable, but I think an exception should be made because Scott Cawthon himself commented on the video, stating that he added a third star to the title screen as a result of that run. In a way, that video is very significant to the history of FNAF.

I would also suggest trying to cite the game itself as a source, because that's the most reliable source you could possibly ask for. My gripe has simply been that I want consistency (mentioning custom night in both gameplay and plot), the fact that custom night has had such a tremendous impact on the series as a whole, and that the 0-20 A.I. system is actually implemented throughout the game, that I feel its mention is 100% warranted given how it's the player who gets to adjust the A.I. levels in custom night.

I'm not here to impose a "I'm right, you're wrong" type of argument to anybody, nor am I here to convey any hostility towards anyone who has frequently edited this page. I am simply trying to give suggestions to improve the article so custom night is mentioned in gameplay. Feel free to chime in with your thoughts as well. FNAF movie

[edit]

you should add at least something of the movie (why not?) or a citation to the article itW!kipedista (talk) 20:48, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is information relating to the film within the article. Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:28, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Unnamed coworker's" name has been revealed

[edit]

In a new interactive novel, The Week Before, the "unnamed coworker's" name was revealed: his name is Ralph. LocalOhioCitizen (talk) 18:08, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@LocalOhioCitizen:
Indeed. That and information concerning the game's timeline placement and the possible return of Afton as "Dave the Maintenance Guy." AxhtonCole (talk) 21:02, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The Legacy paragraph is overly long and could do with some improvements.

[edit]

Although the paragraph covers many things of direct relevance to the FNaF 1 game itself, there are several improvements that could be made:

  • The Week Before, the interactive novel presented as a prequel tie-in to the original game, should be mentioned given its immediate importance to FNaF 1 in contextualizing its events and characters—especially given the fact that the Original Novel Trilogy is mentioned in passing despite its lack of canonicity to the game.
  • Cawthon's retirement from the franchise, first of all, hasn't happened despite his statements, nor, secondly, is it crucial to mention under the Legacy paragraph of the first game. This is something that is relevant to the Five Nights at Freddy's media franchise page, so it should be reserved for mention there.
  • Mention of The Living Tombstone's Five Nights at Freddy's (song) is directly relevant to the original game, but its inclusion in the Five Nights at Freddy's (film) is not. This information, again, should be reserved for either the song's page or the movie's page.
  • Lastly, to the many people who take it upon themselves to edit this page on a daily basis, I know there's the inclination to cram as much information on to the page as possible, but there is such a thing as too much, and certain information (e.g, Cawthon's retirement) bears no direct relevance to specifically the first game, when other information (e.g., The Week Before) does but gets altogether overlooked.

I'm not sure what you mean by the Legacy section being too long when other featured articles such as Sonic the Hedgehog 2 have incredibly detailed and well-researched sections. When writing this featured article, I looked for as much relevant material as I could to help without providing too much. But at the very least, a Legacy section should provide basic information about what the game inspired. And it does just that: it talks about how the game started a franchise, inspired social media trends, fan games, and fan songs. On your other points, if Cawthon has not retired from game development, cite a reliable source that says that. And the page is incredibly short compared to other FAs, if you look in the page size, it sits at under 2000 words, relatively short for any article (see WP:SIZERULE) If you find any information on the week before in a reliable source, feel free to add it to the article and be bold.
