The first paragraph fails to mention that Arab armies invaded. This is central and should be included. 2607:FEA8:539F:FA00:3D32:90F6:8D54:8234 (talk) 16:58, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's in the third para. This article starts in 47. Selfstudier (talk) 17:06, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Votbek, could you please self-revert and/or discuss the changes you've made here [1]. IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 03:12, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I prefered to discuss about this on your talk page Votbek (talk) 03:20, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted your changes. I am not interested in the merits of the content change, if any. Edit warring is prohibited. You should follow WP:BRD, discuss the matter here and try to gain consensus. I'll note that your account is indefinitely blocked on commons so you know that not following the rules can result in blocks. Sean.hoyland (talk) 04:20, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Votbek, I'd suggest you make your case by showing how reliable sources describe this conflict. Alaexis¿question? 20:57, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings. I have never edited this area under these ARBPIA sanctions, I have not edited much at all in the last 15 years (250 edits since March 2009), and I let my adminship lapse last year. But a friend asked me to help him look into the feasibility of addressing two content issues in an agreeable and acceptable way, including one apparently referenced under this heading. I believe that this is something of a test case for him, and I am myself curious about the health of this corner of Wikipedia. I understand beforehand that this may be a long project that requires a lot of learning.

  1. Make more immediately (earlier) clear that this was not started as a Zionist expansionist war.
  2. Balance the 13 mentions of the Zionist leader Ben Gurion with at least some mention(s) of the Palestinian leader Amin Al-Husayni (spelling varies).

Would it be best to tackle this question and propose changes here (at this talk page) immediately or introduce ourselves first at one of the Wikiprojects that include this article (possible most desirably Wikipedia:WikiProject Israel Palestine Collaboration)? Hi @Tom Haws, as I'm sure you know, Wikipedia content is based on reliable sources. Are these changes you wish to make based on reliable sources? IOHANNVSVERVS (talk) 05:27, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply. Yes. Part of the discussion would be about the best sources to use. We would not be interested in proposing any low-quality changes. Tom Haws (talk) 08:57, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Hawstom, I mostly agree with your assessment and believe that the article currently has several NPOV issues.
I think that it's best to suggest edits here. We can always ask for outside feedback later if it's needed. Note that you're still an extended-confirmed user who has every right to make changes to the article. Alaexis¿question? 08:00, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Alaexis. I am far from ready to make any edits to the article. But I hope to be here again with more substance about proposals and sources before too long, at which time I will be very grateful for whatever advice you can give. Tom Haws (talk) 09:04, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Tom, concerning your comments: (1) "not an expansionist war" is an opinion and can't be presented as a fact. Plenty of sources describe it as expansionist and it doesn't matter whether we agree with them. There is room for attributed opinion but only that. (2) Amin al-Husayni was expelled from Palestine 11 years before the 1948 war and was essentially irrelevant to it. Zerotalk 13:19, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
