Qiddiya Coast Stadium (Arabic: ملعب ساحل القدية, romanized: maleab sahil alqidia) is a planned football stadium to be built at the center of the Qiddiya Coast project, an entertainment and tourism megaproject in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is set to be a venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup and has a proposed capacity of 46,096 people, where it will host fixtures in the group stage, round of 32, and round of 16.[1]
Development
[edit]Construction
[edit]Construction on the stadium is scheduled for 2029 and its opening for 2032.
Its planned location is in the northern part of Jeddah on the shore of the Red Sea, at the heart of the Qiddiya Coast Development.[1]
Post-2034
[edit]After the World Cup, the stadium is planned to be an entertainment venue. The design allows for the removal of the upper tier for legacy purposes, leaving a 25,000-capacity venue. Curtains, partitions, and the removable football pitch would allow the facility to host leading esports events, exhibitions, concerts, and conferences, as well as major sports tournaments.[2]
