The NSMV State of Maine V is the new training ship for the Maine Maritime Academy, replacing the TS State of Maine[1] which was retired in 2024. Constructed primarily at the Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia PA[2] beginning in 2023 [3]under the National Security Multi-Mission Vessel program, the ship is expected to enter service at the academy in 2025.
Significant waterfront renovation has been required to accommodate the new ship in Castine, home of the Maine Maritime academy. [4]
