Knights of Rizal

[edit]

Something about Knights of Rizal doesn't seem quite right to me. I came across this org when editing the page Billy Chan.

It seems like it was established in 1911 but whether it was an official state honor isn't entirely clear. They point to this Act from 1956: https://www.officialgazette.gov.ph/1951/06/14/republic-act-no-646/

I'm not sure if the present day org is the same as the 1911 org, some articles link to "knights-of-rizal.org" which is a dead domain now. Current website is "knights-of-rizal.ph". It seems to me like one of those modern day fake orders where becoming a member is not particularly difficult but I would like some input from others.

They claim on the page that Henry Kissinger was a member which I am skeptical of, only sources I could find were SPS.

Should members of this order have the post-nominals "KGOR" on their page and the title of "Sir"? D1551D3N7 (talk) 23:58, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wilhelm or William?

[edit]

There is currently a discussion over on William I, German Emperor whether it is proper to refer to the figure in question as "William" or "Wilhelm". Arabian prince (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) currently redirects to Arabian Prince; but it seems like it should lead to some royalty article, about princes in Arabia, Saudi Arabia, or the Arab world? Is there such an article? -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 17:29, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all. I'm working on restructuring the above article, as it is difficult to navigate. I am emulating the styles of the articles of Christian IX of Denmark and Queen Victoria. If anyone would like to assist in restructuring or including sources, please feel welcome. My draft can be found here. Happy editing! EmilySarah99 (talk) 11:10, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well, this article is in very sad shape. The refs are either from unreliable sources like Rootsweb & Geneanet or are written in German which I do not speak or understand. It is bascially unreferenced and is also throwing a Harv error because the Vogtherr cite doesn't have a working target reference. Much of the content & the problematic references were added by editors who are no longer around so I can't ask them what they meant/for more details. Please someone look in on this article, fix some of the issues and get it out of Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors. - Shearonink (talk) 15:10, 10 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Debrett's Digital Source

[edit]

We've already got links to many old editions of Burke's and Debrett's Peerage through the Internet Archive, Gutenberg, Google Books et al. but these are all scans of physical books. Burke's hasn't actually published for a long time and Debrett's announced in 2019 that future editions will be online only. How shall we get access to these? On their website access requires a paid subscription. Is there anyone in this project group with access? Is there any chance of getting Debrett's added to the Wikipedia Library?

I asked this to the Heraldry & vexillology project in February but there was no reply. Robin S. Taylor (talk) 21:09, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
