- Nominator(s): Easternsahara (talk) 13:59, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am nominating this for featured list because I think it is comprehensive and meets all of the featured list criteria. It is a list of lists, and I'm not sure if you can nominate these for featured list. However, I didn't see anything in the Featured List criteria saying that you cannot nominate such lists. Thank you. Easternsahara (talk) 13:59, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- You have one edit to the list. This seems like a drive-by nomination. Please withdraw it. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 12:17, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Are drive-by nominations not allowed? I don't even want the credit for it. Easternsahara (talk) 15:03, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- At the top of this page it says "Nominators must be sufficiently familiar with the subject matter and sources to deal with objections during the featured list candidate (FLC) process. Those who are not significant contributors to the list should consult regular editors of the list before nomination." Have you consulted regular editors of the list? Do you intend to be personally responsible for responding to and actioning all points raised by reviewers? If the answer to either of those questions is no then please withdraw the nom -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 17:46, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, I will be personally responsible for this list. As for contacting regular editors, there do not seem to be any editors who are very regular so I have contacted the creator of the page, Emijrp. He seems to have added the most to the article by byte count. Easternsahara (talk) 23:20, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]Oppose per the drive by nature of this nomination. However, if you consult major editors of the list for permission and are willing to take on the nomination, here are some things needed to be fixed.
- "The International Council of Museums comprises approximately 30,000 members in 137 countries." needs a citation.
Done, updated information and added a citation.
- Per WP:STATISTA, it is not a good source to use, please replace it.
Done removed and added UNESCO citation in its place
- The virtual museum entry in see also should have the "Includes list of virtual museums" in brackets.
Not done, I have removed it from the "See Also" and put it under miscellaneous, removing "Includes list of virtual museums".
- The should not have a "...", you can remove that.
Done, removed.
- What is your distinction for the country and "other territories" list. For example, Macau is not a country but it is in the country list.
Removed I did not list the other territories because they are already listed under their appropriate country page. For the definition of country, I just put member or observor state of the UN since it is the least messy definition. I wonder if I need citations to prove every country is a member, if so I will add them
- East Timor has been renamed Timor-Leste on Wikipedia this list should be updated to reflect it.
Done
- Most of the prose is just a quote, please add more substantial prose.
Done
- Ping when done. History6042😊 (Contact me) 21:38, 21 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- @History6042:, I have finished adding all of your suggestions to the list, I have also added some things to the See Also and made sure the things there are strictly relevant to the topic. I have also expanded and sorted the "By topic" section. Thank you for engaging with this request despite your initial concerns. Easternsahara (talk) 23:20, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- I will still oppose until I learn that User:Emijrp is okay with this. History6042😊 (Contact me) 23:25, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- FLC Delegate note: I just checked, and Emijrp hasn't edited the list since 2016. They're still an active editor, so they may chime in here, but given the relative lack of major work done to the page in the last 8 years by anyone, at this point I would not consider anyone to be a major editor that must be consulted. I'm not going to say that anyone should not oppose due to it being a nomination by someone who hadn't previously touched the list or for any reasons around content, but I think this specific issue is okay. --PresN 01:31, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Is it possible for me to co-nominate someone, probably Emijrp, to resolve this issue? Easternsahara (talk) 04:49, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]Oppose While I do applaud the nominator’s attempt at beefing up the lead (though it still has issues), this is really just an index of Wikipedia articles. I’m not sure it can ever meet WP standards for Featured List status in its current format. Bgsu98 (Talk) 15:38, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Would you want each and every museum in the entire world listed on the article first by country, then by topic, and then by size? I do not think that lists of lists can inherently not be able to attain featured list status. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that there have been previous lists of lists that have gotten to FL status. Until a FL Delegate says so, we should not assume such a thing. Easternsahara (talk) 04:38, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose I do not believe a purely navigational page like this can qualify as a featured list. It contains no information, no sourceable statements or visual appeal, no defineable scope beyond linking what other lists or articles happen to exist. The lead does not make any sense here and does not introduce the list because there is not substance to the page. The lead is not "beefed up", it's just copied from Museum#Definitions and should be removed. Reywas92Talk 16:01, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
- Wow, and the list is even missing most of Category:Lists of art museums and galleries....
I think if you instead did a List of museum types, like as a subarticle of Museum#Types, it could be featureable, but it could take a lot of organization. Reywas92Talk 16:31, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
