Item #: SCP-10008[a]
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Because entrances to SCP-10008 are situated in the central business district of Chicago, the Foundation must work with the transit agency in secret to seal off all entrances, especially those on the surface. To ensure secrecy of the Foundation and the anomaly in question, the Foundation shall pose as state government agents convincing the agency to close the station under the pretext of a multi-use development ("Block 37") and a new subway line. In addition, the Foundation shall administer amnestics to individuals who managed to escape from SCP-10008.
SCP-10008, by unknown means, appeared the night before 23 October 2006.
The Foundation built one entrance below the said development, which is hidden from public view, to facilitate explorations into SCP-10008. To transport Foundation personnel into SCP-10008, they shall take the appearance of basement personnel and enter through the truck entrance of the development. They shall then walk through a hidden passageway leading to SCP-10008.
No fewer than three D-class personnel shall explore SCP-10008 at once. Personnel are advised not to walk along any of the tracks to avoid electrocution by third rail or being run over by an instance of SCP-10008-2.
Description: SCP-10008 is a series of spatial dimensions that centers around SCP-10008-1, which is a pair of underground metro lines. Both metro lines contain a long island platform with railway tracks on both sides, resembling the underground portions of two Chicago "L" metro lines, the Red Line and the Blue Line, below downtown Chicago. As such, the designation SCP-10008-1 may be divided into SCP-10008-1a and SCP-10008-1b, which are subway lines that resemble the Red Line and the Blue Line, respectively.
SCP-10008's anomalous translocation only occurs when an individual attempts to enter Washington (Red Line) station through the turnstile; this anomaly does not occur when an individual enters Washington (Blue Line) station. Due to these observed phenomena, any individual entering SCP-10008 would be translocated to SCP-10008-1a first.
SCP-10008 hosts many 100-meter-long mezzanine passageways, providing easy transfers from SCP-10008-1a to SCP-10008-1b or vice versa.
After Foundation staff conducted multiple explorations, both SCP-10008-1a and SCP-10008-1b are presumed to extend infinitely in both directions and do not appear to curve at all.
SCP-10008-2, which are "L" trains of various models (2600, 3200, 5000, and 7000-series), arrive at a designated stop every 10–15 minutes. Unlike non-anomalous "L" trains, they are autonomous and so there are no operators in SCP-10008-2.
SCP-10008-3 is a set of stations in SCP-10008-1. Instances of SCP-10008-3 on each line are spaced every 400 meters. Every instance of SCP-10008-3 appears decrepit with the prevalence of graffiti, mold, missing wall paddings, and deteriorating wall paint.
Each specific station is designated using the following naming system: SCP-10008-3x-y. x corresponds to one of the metro lines (a or b) and y corresponds to the distance and direction from the "origin" station (SCP-10008-3a). For example, SCP-10008-3a-3N is three stations north of SCP-10008-3a on SCP-10008-1a; SCP-10008-3b-4S is four stations south of SCP-10008-3b on SCP-10008-1b.
SCP-10008-4 is a series of dimensions outside of SCP-10008-1. Each dimension corresponds to a specific instance of SCP-10008-3. As such, the naming system used for SCP-10008-3 is also applicable for SCP-10008-4. Within the first 8 stops from SCP-10008-3a, SCP-10008-4 appears to be the same as the real world apart from the absence of the Foundation. After traveling more than 8 stops from SCP-10008-3a, SCP-10008-4 begins to differ from the original. The changes to the outside environment from the real world can be benign or dangerous depending on the distance from SCP-10008-3a.
SCP-10008-5 is a series of anomalous entities that originate from SCP-10008 and its instances of SCP-10008-4. Instances of SCP-10008-5 do not include humans and other animals within 8 stops from SCP-10008-3a, as genetic and biological tests determine that these entities and their microbiome are identical to those on Earth. Another reason for their exclusion is because some people inadvertently wandered into SCP-10008.
- SCP-10008-1 (anomalous subway lines)
- SCP-10008-1a ("Red Line")
- SCP-10008-1b ("Blue Line")
- SCP-10008-2 ("L" trains)
- SCP-10008-3 (stations)
- SCP-10008-4 (dimensions outside SCP-10008-1)
- SCP-10008-5 (entities)
