You were the last to semi-protect this. The troll is clearly happy to wait a week and the only chance of breaking the cycle is for protection of at least three months. I suggest indefinite protection, lifting it when it seems appropriate. That way, the troll won't have a date for when to return. It's unusual, but something has to be done. An edit filter might catch most of them, but a filter for one page would be unusual as well. Johnuniq (talk) 07:22, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
I'd rather not yet. That page is watched by many, and this particular troll isn't one of our most competent ones (quickly reverted and blocked). Widr (talk) 08:14, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
I was looking through recent changes and noticed that you blocked someone, citing block evasion. Not questioning the block but I did notice that the SPI page you link to is a redlink and I was wondering if it was a typo. --Border of Phantasm (Complaint Center) 17:29, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
The following IP user (previously warned and blocked for disruptive editing bordering on could be considered "vandalism" at this point given the scope and repetition) has resumed causing massive disruptive edits to multiple pages following being unblocked. 74.83.113.39 (talk) 04:01, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for blocking Tommy Evil 27. After I issued a warning or two they simply blanked more pages. Hate it when people do that. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 06:41, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Hoax albums
So I think the user may be tied to Dylan Florida but it's a lot different from his normal MO but he's the only 'prolific' hoax album creator I can think of and despite the lack of a usual username the hoaxes seem to coincide a bit with their behavior (see the Avril Lavign redirect to a Natalie Imbruglia album.) I see as I was typing this he was indeffed, but what are your thoughts? CHRISSYMAD❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯12:18, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Could you make this a permablock? It's Atorres50 based on his edits of Philippines and Mexico articles, his incursions into project space, and even into LTA. Raymie (t • c) 17:27, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
The block template that appeared here looks like it is for an IP, only shows a 31 hour block instead of the indefinite block they actually got. Home Lander (talk) 18:57, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
List of 2017 albums
I thought the block and pending changes protection of List of 2017 albums would be enough to discourage the disruptive IP from editing it, but perhaps not. I have reverted their pending changes, but I get the feeling this pattern will continue. Is it enough yet to make it simply require autoconfirmed without pending changes? Ss11220:09, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
I'll keep on an eye on it. Good thing is that those changes won't go "live" unless they get accepted. Widr (talk) 20:17, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Considering they still haven't gotten the message they're not welcome on WP, they'll most likely be back, potentially with a(n attempted) revert and snarky edit summaries to go with it, so it may need to be further protected soon. Ss11220:19, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
I really think List of 2017 albums needs to have its protection status upgraded. This IP user is persistent, disruptive and not getting the message. Edit: Okay, thanks for that. Ss11223:06, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
Also, would you be able to partially protect Bloom (MGK album)? They've been editing quite frequently there too. That's another one of their favourite targets at the moment. Ss11201:48, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

can we personally message to talk users through wikipedia, or not? I want to discuss various things related to reason I've got blocked. so we could solve the situations going around BLP's violation and some Wikipedia Basics. Broken nutshell (talk) 17:56, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) @Broken nutshell: Not in the usual 'Messenger' sense, no. There is a WP:EMAIL facility, if the user has set it up (it's not compulsory), but in the interests of transparency you wil generally find that talk page messages are the usual form of communication. without speaking fr Widr personally, there doesn't seem to be anything in those things you ant to discuss that is so egregious as to need a cloak of anonymity, as it were.

Hi, The bot uses "rm" in his edit summary. I couldnt understand what it stands for. Here is an edit summary: "2 IPs left. rm 174.79.60.245 (blocked 7 days by Widr (AO ACB))."
@Murph9000: lol that didnt occur to me. Thanks for the info. :-) I use FreeBSD with XFCE ;-) But currently all my computers are down. One of them needs one chip of 128MB SD RAM, and it is not available anywhere. :-/ —usernamekiran(talk)21:02, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
Borderline case
Hello Widr, thanks for your help in dealing with usernames at UAA. There is this username User:SHIBU SHIT which I'm not sure if it should be reported and blocked. Hence, requesting your assistance in this matter. Regards. TheGeneralUser (talk) 22:39, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
Yes, Shit is a common surname in some regions of India. And "Kutty" is very common in Tamilnadu, in Hindi which literally means female dog (the word which is usually suffixed by "son of b*") lol. —usernamekiran(talk)20:25, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
Hello. Right after you protected Vellore a registered user, Special:Contributions/Venkatesa prassnna, continued the edits of the IP-hopper, and a quick look at their contributions, talk page and block log (blocked for 60h on 3 May by Materialscientist for "persisten addition of unsourced material" on Vellore...) talk makes it obvious that the IPs and the registered user are one and the one, so it might be worth to keep an eye on them. Or perhaps even block them since the latest IP received a level-4 and the named user started editing after that... - Tom | Thomas.W talk11:57, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
Can you take a look at this? The user obviously doesn't understand moving pages on Wikipedia (or at least can't do it because they're not WP:AUTOCONFIRMED). I marked it as reviewed as it's a copy-paste move. Should I just leave them a note without any further action? Thanks, Nicnote • ask me a question • contributions17:14, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Hey Widr, I reported the user Kenbraw for being a promotion-only account yesterday but the report was dismissed due to there not being enough recent activity to warrant a block. Shouldn't a user repeatedly claiming they are a group's manager, disputing content and continuing to edit stating "I am the Proclaimers' manager" in their summaries be blocked for advertising or promotion? Ss11213:20, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
How was it "certainly not the correct venue" when other accounts are reported at ANV for advertising or promotion through the same type of edits and this appears to be the exact same thing? Ss11221:20, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
AIV is only meant for obvious vandalism or spam that require immediate attention, not something from a month ago. Bad reports tend to sit there longer before anyone declines/removes them, others are actioned normally within minutes. Widr (talk) 21:28, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
I reported them because their most recent edit was 10 May (well, 11 May in my time zone), and they repeated their own "contact" email as if they are the authority on that group. Ss11221:31, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Oh, right. I'm still confusing the months, I guess. Well, I'll monitor them to see if they resume editing. Ss11222:00, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Nohshad Shah
Hi - this is Nohshad Shah. I am trying to delete the bio page under my name "Nohshad Shah". I am not a public figure and do not need a bio page. People are erroneously editing this page and its about me! I would be very grateful if you could delete this page or help me do so. Many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.4.143.116 (talk) 13:43, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
Hello, Widr. Please check your email; you've got mail! It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template.
Thank you for your great work processing administrative queues like user-right requests and WP:AIV. This motivates those that are WP:HERE to keep up with their work. — PaleoNeonate — 00:46, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
Based on what he just posted on his talk page recently, please revoke his rights to edit on his own talk page. It'd also be great if you could remove his edits from history (apparently that was possible. Thank you very much for blocking him man :) -Primetime (talk) 05:46, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
