Though I'm not particularly active in it, thanks for all your work at DYK and other misc admin stuff. Also, random question if you don't mind me asking - how many notifs do admins usually get? I'd expect that you get flooded by vandal spam and other mop-related messages all the time depending on the areas ya'll work in. Cheers, GoldRomean (talk) 18:54, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

I don't actually get too many talk page notifs, maybe about one a week – some admins have much more active talk pages than me, but I don't do much counter-vandalism or SPI so it's pretty quiet. Interface administrator changes
- Following an RfC, administrator elections were permanently authorized on a five-month schedule. The next election will be scheduled soon; see Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections for more information. This is an alternate process to the RfA process and does not replace the latter.
- An RfC was closed with consensus to allow editors to opt-out of seeing "sticky decorative elements". Such elements should now be wrapped in {{sticky decoration wrapper}}. Editors who wish to opt out can follow the instructions at WP:STICKYDECO.
- An RfC has resulted in a broad prohibition on the use of AI-generated images in articles. A few common-sense exceptions are recognized.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2025 to reduce the backlog of articles in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!

User:Theleekycauldron/Templates/DYK queue backlog errors
Heya leek—User:Theleekycauldron/Templates/DYK queue backlog is currently displaying that we have five filled queues, because there are indeed five queue which have non-zero numbers of hooks filled in. However, only two of those queues are actually complete (TM:DYK/Q4 and TM:DYK/Q6); the other three are partially done. Not sure what the fix is, but I don't think "there are five entire queues filled! Five!" is an accurate picture of the state of DYKland. HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 00:43, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
- heya, house! a bit of motivated reasoning, because accommodating this with templates would be a bunch of work i don't wanna do, but i think it's fine to more or less expect that the promoting admin will have all of their ducks in a row by showtime. i could maybe whip something up that shows how many queues have {{DYKbotdo}} tags, the way Gatoclass is doing right now, but i wouldn't want an admin to come along and fill the queue i'm working because they feel like they need to. I substituted my preferred alt for this nom after getting acceptance from two participants at DYK talk, but on reflection, perhaps I was a little hasty and should have asked your opinion first. It's just that these hook discussions are burning up too much of my time and consequently causing me a little anxiety. - Not at all, Gatoclass, you're good! I appreciate you letting me know :) like I said at the top of the thread, I'm mostly not looking to spike anything or make sure every hook DYK runs is perfect – I'm just trying to make sure I'm happy with all of the ones I put my signature on. Unless I pull a hook and send it back to DYKN, admins don't need to check with me before putting it back in queue, altered or unaltered, as long as they're willing to endorse it. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 17:00, 22 May 2025 (UTC)
