The article Laura Robson (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disambiguation page not required (WP:ONEOTHER). Primary topic article has a hatnote to the only other use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.

For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Thanks for fixing those links; I'd planned on doing that tidyup myself- i.e. finishing what I'd started- via AWB. However, once I started I realised I didn't have AWB permission for en.wikipedia and had to wait a couple of days for that to come through, by which point you'd already done it.

(I notice you didn't use AWB anyway, but I wasn't aware of that other tool at the time).

List of war memorials in Surrey

Hi @Rodw: I hope you don't mind me contacting you, but I am seeking your advice as someone who has successfully nominated Featured Lists and as someone with a past connection to Surrey!
Murgatroyd49 and I would like to create a List of war memorials in Surrey page, using material from the List of public art in Surrey article. The latter currently lists over 70 memorials and my feeling is that there are at least another 50 (and very possibly another 100) still to add. A new list would also give us the opportunity to include "indoor" memorials, which are excluded from the scope of the public art page (I know of around a dozen villages that don't have an "outdoor" memorial, but do have plaques inside their churches, for example.)
Before we go ahead and formally propose the split, we would like to consider whether the table format that's currently used is the most appropriate. I have half an eye on a Featured List nomination in the very far future, so I am keen to make sure that any formatting/layout decisions we take now do not cause us difficulty with reviewers. We have been playing around with some possible options at User:Murgatroyd49/sandbox3. Would you be able to drop by and let us know what you think please? We have started a discussion at User talk:Murgatroyd49/sandbox3. There's also the question of breaking up the table by grouping the memorials into different categories by design/appearance.
It would be great to get your perspective. Thanks very much for your help. Mertbiol (talk) 12:58, 12 January 2025 (UTC)

Recreating a redundant DAB page at RDU_(disambiguation)

Curious why you recreated a recently CSD deleted DAB page. There is generally no need to keep a DAB page as a redirect if the DAB page is already PTOPIC. Furthermore no other articles actually linked to that DAB page which was created recently by a person bolding moved a page without consensus. TiggerJay(talk) 02:43, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

This is an automated process by DisamAssist. If the dab page appears in one of the lists at Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links as having incoming links I visit and if the page does not have a version with "(disambiguation)" in the title it creates one. As this one was only deleted a few hurs before it would still appear in the lists (updated roughly 12 hourly). I am happy for it to be deleted & happens quite a lot (see messages above) as I use DisamAssist 500-1000 times a day.— Rod talk 08:25, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
It would seem like the results of using this automated process is disruptive to the project, as the automated part of a bot is not a legitimate excuse for it's behavior. It would seem to be that the functionally of the tool or the user needs to be adjusted to avoid this sort of behavior. TiggerJay(talk) 18:04, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
You could try contacting the author User:Qwertyytrewqqwerty but I don't think they have been active for some years. It would be better to put the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation pages with links or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation as I believe one of the admins involved in the project now maintains the tool.— Rod talk 19:05, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

List of contemporary epistolary novels

Hi @Rodw, thanks for making changes on this article after I did a clean-up. The other thing I'm wondering about now is to delete older novels. The title says "contemporary" but this list includes a novel from 1795! Just wondering where to draw the line for contemporary - do you have a view? Blackballnz (talk) 21:23, 8 February 2025 (UTC)

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter

The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.

Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. The European Destubathon

You are invited to participate in The European Destubathon in April. Almost $3000 in Amazon voucher prizes which can be used to buy books for content, though it can also be treated as an editathon if you're not interested in competing! Minimum content to be added to each article just to ensure that they're over a stub, though longer expansions also welcome. Entries at the end of the contest will be tipped into the 50,000 Destubbing Challenge and European Challenge. Previous contests were really enjoyable and I'm hoping this one will be too! Sign up if interested. Thanks! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:22, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

You could technically win the contest just by destubbing articles from the West country Rod! I enjoyed your contributions when we did that contest a while ago and would be good to see some England entries coming in. There's also a £50 prize for most UK and Ireland destubs and £50 for most destubs on villages and towns and districts.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:51, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

List of Canadian Senators

Appreciate the disambiguation assistance with List of current senators of Canada I'm really trying to fix up that page. Can I ask about the documentation for the bot that was used? How does it know which of the pages from the disambiguation page is correct? Any use of AI to actually "read" the pages and make a judgement about that? Something similar might be useful later when we will be updating the pages of each current Senator to have consistent format and data. Then maybe MP pages after (very carefully...). With an election coming here in a few weeks, there might be lots of new MPs so lots of pages to fix up. Any advice? I'm kind of new at this. Canadianpoliticaljunkie (talk) 14:42, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

I presume you mean "DisamAssist" if so see User:Qwertyytrewqqwerty/DisamAssist. No AI but it links to the disambiguation page from which, with one click, you select the correct term & it looks after formatting etc. Lots of other tools & tips at Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links. One which is really useful is to go to your "preferences" (drop down menu top right of your page) & go to the "gadgets tab", then scroll down to "Appearance" & put a tick next to "Display links to disambiguation pages in orange" - this will highlight if you are adding links to dab pages. I have no expertise on Canadian politicians but would suggest looking at/asking for help at Wikipedia:WikiProject Governments of Canada & Wikipedia:WikiProject Political parties and politicians in Canada for others with similar interests.— Rod talk 14:51, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi Admin please help us GMA Pictures page vandalism issue

I need help from you sinced you're autopatrolled confirmed use - with a Wikipedia issue. A user who was previously blocked for editing vandalism is now back and removing information from the GMA Pictures filmography page. The user's reasons for removal are invalid, and their actions are disrupting the page.

The user questions the integrity of IMDB, but IMDB is a reliable source that maintains comprehensive records of films, distributors, and producers worldwide. IMDB's data undergoes extensive verification, making it a trusted source for media organizations globally.

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter

The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.

Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:

In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. Update: New Event-Organizer Tools for You on English Wikipedia!

Hello,

I hope you're doing well! As an event coordinator on English Wikipedia, I’m happy to share some news with you. You now have the event-organizer right! This gives you access to the CampaignEvents extension, a powerful set of tools to help you organize and promote events and WikiProjects more easily. With the CampaignEvents extension, you can:

  • Manage event registration directly on English Wikipedia.
  • Use the Invitation List tool to find potential participants for your events/WikiProjects
  • Receive automatic promotion of your events via the Collaboration List

Learn more on mw:Help:Extension:CampaignEvents

Now that I have your attention, I’d also like to share some updates to the extension:

  • The Collaboration List can now be transcluded, meaning you can easily embed it on other wiki pages to share event details with more people by adding {{Special:AllEvents}}. Learn more.
  • Admins can now determine which namespaces are permitted for Event Registration on English Wikipedia, via Special:CommunityConfiguration. Right now, the Event namespace is permitted by default for Event Registration. However, other namespaces (such as Wikipedia, WikiProject, etc) can now be added as permitted namespaces by admins too. This can help other types of organized activities, such as WikiProjects, use Event Registration. For details, please visit: Permitted_namespaces

If you need help using these new tools, I’m here to support you. Feel free to reach out for guidance. You can also find some useful video guides on Commons.

We’re excited to see how you use these tools for WikiProjects or events! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Request: Support for Page Update

Hello Rowd,

I work for a PR consultancy called Kekst CNC, which works on behalf of SUSE. We are committed to being a member of the Wikipedia community after signing the official agency/Wikipedia agreement, which can be found here (Wikipedia:Statement on Wikipedia from participating communications firms). This means that we are adhering to the guidelines, and most importantly, that we know we have a COI, which means that we are letting the members of the Wikipedia community decide whether or not to make changes for us.

We hope that you could support us with some factual amendments for the SUSE S.A. Wikipedia Page (SUSE S.A.).

The full request is posted on the SUSE Talk page as well, but for ease, this is what we are requesting:

1. updating the revenue from 450,000,000 USD (2020) to $700m+ (2022)

2. updating the number of employees from 2,300 (2023) to 2,500 (2025)

3. adjusting the descriptive change of Linux to explain the product range of Linux from: "SUSE S.A. (/ˈsuːsə, ˈsuːzə/ SOO-sə, SOO-zə, German: [ˈzuːzə]) is a German multinational open-source software company that develops and sells Linux products to business customers." to "SUSE S.A. (/ˈsuːsə, ˈsuːzə/ SOO-sə, SOO-zə, German: [ˈzuːzə]) is a German multinational open-source software company that develops and sells Linux, cloud-native, and edge computing products to business customers."

4. Further, we suggest adding a brief paragraph on the Rancher Labs & Neu Vector acquisitions, including the focus areas of SUSE to give more depth to the introduction. We suggest the following paragraph to be added after the first introductory sentences:

"With the acquisition of Rancher Labs in 2020 and NeuVector in 2021, SUSE also offers cloud-native infrastructure and container management offerings to enterprises. SUSE's primary focuses are on four key areas: providing Enterprise Linux and Multi-Linux support, advancing Clould Native technologies, delivering Edge Computing Solutions, and SUSE AI.

SUSE's operating system technology supports enterprises operating across the globe and its customers include 60% of the Fortune 500."

5. adding the updated product line of SUSE to the brief description part to give a complete overview of the range:

"PRODUCTS

Linux

- SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server (former Linux Enterprise Server)

- SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server for SAP® Applications (former Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications)

- SUSE® Linux Micro (former Linux Enterprise Micro)

- SUSE® Multi-Linux Manager (former SUSE Manager)

- SUSE® Multi-Linux Support (former Liberty Linux)

Cloud Native

- SUSE® Rancher Prime (former Rancher Prime)

- SUSE® Cloud Observability (former StackState SaaS)

Edge

- SUSE® Edge for Telco (former Adaptive Telco Infrastructure Platform)

- SUSE® Edge

AI

- SUSE® AI Foundation (former SUSE AI - Base Architecture)

- SUSE® AI Applications (former SUSE AI - Rancher App Catalog)

Capabilities

- SUSE® Virtualization (former Harvester)

- SUSE® Storage (former Longhorn)

- SUSE® Security (former NeuVector)

- SUSE® Observability (former StackState)"

I would be very grateful if you could take a look at the proposed changes.

Thanks -- Clara vW (talk) 07:28, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
