I have a google docs full of Brunei related documents, though you would probably need an institutional log in to access many of them, still think it will be useful. If you are interested I can send it to you. Feel free to add some if you find any that are not listed.
Since you are interested in Brunei royalty and nobility a useful website would be this the royal ark: http://www.royalark.net/Brunei/brunei2.htm if you ever came across it. SunlightSonata (talk) 17:54, 19 February 2025 (UTC) |
- I'm currently a university student with access to JSTOR and similar resources. Thanks for mentioning the "Royal Ark" website—I’m aware of it but have avoided using it as a source since it has proven to be quite unreliable and requires frequent fact-checking.
- I must say, it's quite rare to come across Brunei Wikipedia editors here! On another note, keep up the great work. It’s always nice to have an extra helping hand on this site when needed. Feel free to join the community at WikiProject Brunei, though activity may change from time to time. Pangalau (talk) 03:18, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

- This is the google doc with the resources, though some links may be dead-ends, the titles should be good enough for a google search to pop them up. Are you going to university in Brunei or elsewhere because some of the books may be more readily available in UK university libraries SunlightSonata (talk) 15:45, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- I am currently pursuing my studies in Australia, so some sources may be difficult to find. However, it is not a major concern. Thank you for compiling the sources. My main areas of interest are typically biographies, Brunei's development, significant events and documents, as well as some minor military-related topics. wiki/Abdullah Hanafi
[edit]
Good day Pangalau, I have provided the accurate information regarding Abdullah's portrait, but I noticed that my updates are being repeatedly undone. Could you kindly clarify the reason for this? The photo you have shared is actually of Taib Besar, the father of Abdul Rahman Taib, the current Speaker of the Legislative Council of Brunei. Additionally, the Arabic-Jawi name listed for Abdullah Hanafi appears to be incorrect—it states تاه عبدالراوف (Tah Abdul Rauf), which does not match his name. I would appreciate your feedback on this matter at your earliest convenience. Please let me know how we can resolve this. Looking forward to your response. Best regards, Muhammad Mukhriz (talk) 15:11, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response! I hope no feelings were hurt in this matter, as I was quite concerned about the portrait you uploaded. I will now address your inquiries.
- Firstly, where was the portrait found? Is it a painted portrait or a photograph from 1927? It would be very helpful if you could provide the image’s original source, such as a specific location or a book.
- Secondly, I appreciate you pointing out the error in the Jawi name, which I had overlooked—thank you very much for that! I truly appreciate your keen attention to detail. I also realised the infobox error and have therefore decided not to use it anymore.
- Please let me know if you need any assistance! Thanks again for reaching out, and I assure you that I mean no harm. Pangalau (talk) 00:42, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- 1. The source of the photograph I uploaded comes directly from the family or a descendant of Abdullah Hanafi. I will check secondary sources, but from what I partially remember, it may be from a book called Puak Tutong, published in 2002 by Pusat Sejarah Brunei (Brunei Historical Center).
- 2. Yes, he appears in the photograph, standing second from the right in the back row. I have the photograh as well.
- Hope this clarifies. Thank you. Muhammad Mukhriz (talk) 03:04, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Noted! I will upload a cropped version of the image above. Let me know once you find additional sources for your image so that it can be replaced accordingly. I have the third edition of the book Puak Tutong, but the image could not be found. Pangalau (talk) 03:07, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
