To answer your question, yes, you can edit most articles by clicking the “edit” link at the top of the page. CSS to hide id

I came by User:Myrealnamm/common.css in a search. This will hide "Global contributions":

When making edits to a page based on an external source (i.e. I'm editing a page on a former college professor and I'm using a page from the college they worked at about them), how should I cite that source in general? I believe on the article I was working on there was nothing dedicated to "Works Cited." Should I have started something along these lines?

@Camwill011 That’s a great question. Citing sources can always be tricky on Wikipedia. In the visual editor (which is what you have used for editing) look for the “cite” button: . There, you can add in the website URL and it should automatically do it for you. Be sure to add the citation after the sentence (look at the ones already present on the article for examples). It doesn’t matter. The problem is that the copyrighted material is on Wikipedia, and has to be hidden by an administrator. OK, let's try, at least between us, to rectfy this and come to agreement. We pasted in an extensive quote from an article, (a) into a "quote =" field of a {{cite web... template, in the citation from which the quote was drawn, and (b) then hid the quote from sight using <!-- markup. We then (c) removed the offending quote, when questioned by a registered editor. (So, presently, the material that raised the COPYVIO concern is no longer present.) Please tell me how the tag, and an administrator's review is still relevant, and necessary? I propose it is unnecessary, and likely to lead to further issues based in misunderstanding. Finally, two points. First, all advice we are given says that one cannot violate copyright in the way described above, steps (a) and (b), because there is no presentation/publication of the "offending" material; it always remained hidden from sight. Second, this sort of respond-to-bot-outputs-and-take-action kind of process was the very reason that some of us left WP, despite many hundreds of thousands of edits. Let me explain. Some people like to look for places that have potential copyright problems. What the template does is to request an administrator to look at the page so that that revision cannot be seen and opened by a non-administrator.
It seems like it was my misunderstanding, because an administrator has hidden that revision two hours ago, and I did not see it. I sincerely apologize for this as I was not aware that it was deleted. @Cstull98 the problem with ChatGPT is that the tone it uses is not suitable for encyclopedias, for example "became known for its pioneering role in the steel and natural gas industries.", or "Leechburg became a hub of innovation and heavy industry.". The problem with the first sentence is WP:NPOV, and the second one contains is pretty much "useless", the average reader doesn't need to know that it is "a hub of innovation and heavy industry". @Corbykissler see WP:BAND. It can't only pass mentions from reliable sources, it needs to include an indepth coverage of the topic, Pray for Sleep. Also, if you read WP:CITE it tells you how to add WP:INLINE citations to your draft (if you click here you can use the Cite button while editing to make inline citations). Can I ask you a question? My boyfriend is a French track cyclist that had won many championships, both national, European and a word Championship in track cycling. But for some reason, only 1 of them is mentioned in the article about him on Wikipedia.

I actually tried to insert relevant information but without an account, I even linked the competitions he won (so they are 100% veritable and you can see his name), but someone went in and reverted mu changes :(

@AnjaMa999 Having your own edits reverted can always be frustrating. Try this:
  1. Log out, come back here, refresh, then go to Special:MyTalk (it should redirect you to your talk page of the IP address you used to edit)
  2. Did someone leave a note regarding your edit? Usually the person who reverted your edit would leave you a note about why your edit was reverted
  3. If it was removed because there was no source, see WP:CITE on how to add a source, and try adding your edit again with reliable sources
