Advice on article creation

Hi,

Your deleted sandbox draft was purely promotional, so now that you've been unblocked I wanted to give you some advice in preparation for your next attempt, to avoid making the same mistakes again.

The language already had quite a promotional feel to it, but more fundamentally, it was you telling the world about your business, and that is pretty much the definition of promotion (see WP:YESPROMO). To be blunt, we have no interest in what you want to say about your business. We are almost exclusively interested in what third parties have on their own initiative chosen to say about you and what in their opinion makes your company worthy of note.

By 'third parties', I mainly mean secondary sources which are reliable and entirely WP:independent of you. And by 'their own initiative' I mean excluding anything where you have asked or paid to be featured, where you have supplied the source with press releases or other information, etc.

You need to start by finding a few (say, 3-5) sources that meet the WP:GNG standard for notability and that have published significant coverage about you. You then summarise what each of them have said, cite each source against the information it has provided, and weave everything together into a coherent whole. This approach is outlined at WP:GOLDENRULE, and is the only one that will produce an acceptable draft, with appropriate content, necessary references, and sufficient proof of notability.

After you've done all that, you can then supplement your draft with additional information from primary sources such as your website, but this must be kept to purely factual, non-contentious details such as year of founding or the location of your HQ. We don't want to see excessive product or brand details, long lists of markets or locations, or anything else which comes even close to sales or marketing content. Remember, you're writing an encyclopaedia article, not a corporate presentation or sales pitch.

Make no mistake about it, it is difficult to show that any business, no matter how well-established, long-standing, large and/or successful, is notable enough to warrant an article in a global encyclopaedia, and the vast majority of businesses would fail to do that. If you cannot find sufficient (in quantity and quality) sources to base your draft on, that almost certainly means your business is not notable enough to justify an article.

I'm assuming you have been set this task by a boss or colleague, and they probably don't realise what a nearly impossible job they've given you. You may want to read WP:BOSS, and show it to them as well, to help manage expectations.

One last thing: in doing all this, you may catch the attention of someone who will approach you and offer to write your article for you, or get it accepted, for a free. It's obviously your call whether you want to spend your money that way, but I would advice against it: the notability etc. requirements are exactly the same whether it is you writing this article or a hired editor. There are also any number of unscrupulous types out there who will take your money and not deliver what you paid for, and I wouldn't want you to fall victim to them; see WP:SCAM for more on that.
