Hello, Jdesuza. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. JBW (talk) 21:21, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello JBW,
- Thank you for your message and for highlighting Wikipedia’s guidelines on conflict of interest (COI). I appreciate your guidance and understand the importance of maintaining neutrality and upholding Wikipedia’s content policies.
- I would like to clarify that my intent is to contribute factual, well-sourced, and neutral content in accordance with Wikipedia’s notability standards. I acknowledge the COI guidelines and will refrain from directly editing the article. Instead, I will propose suggested edits on the article’s talk page using reliable, independent sources to support any changes.
- Additionally, I will ensure proper disclosure of any affiliations, as required by Wikipedia’s policies and the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use. Thank you again for your feedback and for helping maintain the integrity of Wikipedia. Jdesuza (talk) 13:12, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- In response to the above query, you didn't actually say explicitly that you have a COI, but you said you would refrain from direct editing etc. which implies the same. This being the case, please make the relevant disclosure, which you said you would make, but don't appear to have done.
- On a separate, although possibly related, point: please don't use AI to formulate your messages. We want to hear from you, not some algorithm. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:37, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message! I understand the importance of transparency, and I will be sure to include the required COI disclosure as needed. As far as messages generated by AI go, I can assure you that my reactions are my own. I sometimes refine my wording for clarity, but my goal is always to communicate genuinely and in accordance with Wikipedia guidelines. I am here to make meaningful contributions, especially in areas related to education, entrepreneurship, and scholarly discourse. Jdesuza (talk) 09:06, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
