PRODs

[edit]

Hello, Espresso Addict,

I noticed that tonight you removed PROD tags from two articles (although there might have been more from other days). We don't have enough editors who will review PROD'd articles. Yesterday, we had 128 PROD'd articles, which is much higher than our usual 20-40 PROD'd articles/day and I had wished some editors had reviewed some of them before they were deleted. Any way, I wanted to thank you for your oversight in this area. Liz Read! Talk! 05:50, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, by the way, SDZeroBot does maintain a list of recently PROD'd articles if you ever want to review recently deleted articles. Liz Read! Talk! 05:52, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Liz! When I'm feeling robust I try to do a "prod run" to check the whole heap, but it's hard work and one gets a fair bit of pushback from taggers. I wonder whether the bulge you mention is because everyone's been off over Christmas/New Year and no-one has been removing items from the list? I hadn't realised SDZeroBot did deleted articles too, I might take a look at that. Happy New Year, anyway, and congratulations on getting onto the arbitration committee. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 19:31, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Assistance

[edit]

You are an administrator that I respect. If possible, I would, therefore, value your contribution to the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Palestinian political violence (3rd nomination). It would mean a lot to have your third-party, experienced perspective. Firecat93 (talk) 19:45, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please disregard my request. It seems that I should have nominated the article for merging instead. Firecat93 (talk) 23:46, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Annilese Miskimmon

[edit]

On 19 January 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Annilese Miskimmon, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Annilese Miskimmon directed a choose-your-own-ending production of Mozart's Così fan tutte? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Annilese Miskimmon. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Annilese Miskimmon), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Request for text of a deleted article

[edit]

Firstly, I would like to thank you for performing vital administrative tasks which must often feel thankless. I would also express my wish to retrieve the deleted article White River Energetics for future reference or improvement. I probably jumped the gun anticipating the future notability of this facility currently undergoing expansion. When complete it will be, as noted, the first new United States propellant manufacturer since St. Marks Powder came on line in 1969. The article also mentioned the vulnerability of the St. Marks plant to climate change. Since the St. Marks plant presently produces nearly all of the United States infantry ammunition propellant, I anticipate there will be significant news coverage when St. Marks is destroyed by a hurricane, and I hoped to get ahead of that eventuality. In the meantime, I will try to integrate the information into the article about Des Arc, which will become functionally a company town if White River Energetics assumes the strategic importance I anticipate. Thewellman (talk) 06:00, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Thewellman -- Thanks for the note. I've restored and moved to User:Thewellman/White River Energetics for you. I agree notability is very possible in future, even though I don't think it's there right now. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 06:08, 4 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Fareedom -- I suggest you start a draft in your userspace on the topic and add whatever sources you have found, so that other editors can judge whether the topic is likely to meet notability guidelines or not. Unfortunately I'm not prepared to click on a website external to Wikipedia unless I know that it is a respectable source. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 09:55, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Guidance on Arun Chockalingam Draft

[edit]

Re: Draft:Arun Chockalingam

Hello Espresso Addict,

I hope this message finds you well. I noticed that the draft I created for Arun Chockalingam was deleted with the reason "unambiguous advertising and promotion" (G11). I understand the importance of adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines and would like to improve the draft to meet the required standards.

Arun Chockalingam is a renowned professional in Global Health and Medicine with significant contributions, recognized by University of Toronto and he held many executive roles and also for the canadian government. My intent is to write a neutral and well-sourced article and I'd greatly appreciate any specific feedback or advice you could provide regarding what changes I should make to ensure the article complies with Wikipedia's policies.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your guidance.

Best regards,

BioEditss. BioEditss (talk) 21:45, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello BioEditss -- First, please explain what connection you have with Arun Chockalingam, and whether you are being paid or otherwise compensated to write this article -- if so you must declare this; see Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure for details. If you have any connection with Dr Chockalingam read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and declare it clearly before editing the recreated draft any further.
Second, the original draft read as if it were written at least in part by a Large Language Model (LLM). You should summarise the facts of the subject's career simply, and in your own words, without any of the LLM promotional additions.
Write in prose; avoid bullet points and bolded text. Use a proper infobox not a table; for scientists use Template:Infobox scientist.
Read WP:PROF, decide which of the bullet points the subject meets and then write a brief factual article that focuses on these points. Omit irrelevant material such as his mountaineering which does not contribute to notability. Make sure everything is sourced inline to a reliable source; for an academic, the subject's university website is adequate for uncontroversial material such as positions held, but things like awards must be cited to the awarding bodies or to press coverage.
I hope this helps. You can ask questions at the Teahouse. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 22:15, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Espresso Addict,
Thank you for your feedback and for highlighting the concerns regarding the draft I contributed I'd like to address the points you raised.
First Wikipedia: Conflict of Interest (COI): I confirm that I have no personal or professional connection with Arun Chockalingam, and I am not being paid or otherwise compensated for contributing to this article. My intent is purely to contribute useful and factful content to Wikipedia that aligns with its guidelines. If required, I am happy to provide further clarification regarding my contributions.
Second, Original draft issues: I understand your concerns about the format of the draft. I will rewrite the content in a neutral, encyclopedic style and ensure it adheres to Wikipedia Policies, such as avoiding bullet points and promotional language. I will also prioritize reliable sources and exclude any material that does not contribute to the subject's notability.
Based on your suggestions, I will rewrite the article in prose form, avoiding bolded text and unnecessary formatting. And use a proper infobox for scientists (Template: Infobox scientist) instead of a table format. Review WP: PROF and other relevant guidelines to ensure the article focuses on Arun Chockalingam's notable academic and professional achievements while excluding unrelated content. I will Cite reliable, third party sources for all claims, especially for awards and positions held.
I appreciate your guidance and will take the necessary steps to improve the draft accordingly. Please let me know if there are any additional points I should consider. Thank you for your time and support. BioEditss (talk) 14:17, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
