Christian Maran ( born 1 December 1998) is an Australian-Syrian basketball player for Illawarra Hawks of the Australia Nbl One East.
Early life and career
[edit]Maran was born in Sydney, Australia for Syrian-Lebanese Father and Greek Mother. He played Youth League basketball for Blacktown and Sutherland Sharks .Maran acheived youth league second place in Nsw.
Professional career
[edit]Sutherland Sharks 2019
On February 2019, Maran signed with Sutherland Sharks and played one year in Nsw Waratah Men's League.
Penrith Panthers 2020-2021
On February 2020, Maran signed with Penrith Panthers and played two Seasons in the NBL1 East.
Inner West Bulls 2022
Maran joined Inner West and played NBL1 East Season.
Mackay Meteors 2023-2024
Maran joined the Mackay Meteors for the 2023 and 2024 NBL1 North season. In his second Season with Meteors in 2024, he won NbL1 North Season and made it to the final of Nbl1 Nationals.
Al Wahda Syria 2024
Following the 2024 NBL1 Season, Maran signed with Al Wahda Syria to participate in the Syrian Baseketball League and West Asia super league. He played in September two games for al Wahda in an International Competition in Syria. In his first appearance he scored 17 and 19 points versus Antranik and Nsa Clubs from lebanon. He had to leave Syria and join back NBL1 Season as the league was terminated in Syria.
Illawarra Hawks 2025
In February after returning from Syrian basketball league, Maran signed with Illawarra Hawks and currently playing NBL1 East Season.
National team career
[edit]In November 2024 ,Christian Maran was named in the Syrian National team squad for Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers and he participated in two games versus Bahrain and Lebanon.
