Done; agreed, and categories have been transferred to the /doc page. P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 13:02, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Silent failure; tracking category requested
[edit]When this template fails to find a country name, it fails silently, outputting the input:
{{Country2nationality|[[Freedonia]]}}
→ Freedonia (output at this writing: Freedonia)
It should probably output an error-tracking category so that misspelled country names, former country names, fictional country names, and other unrecognized names can be tracked and fixed, either by correcting them or by adding them to the module's custom data list. I don't know how to add such a tracking category in Lua. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:22, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- Ahecht, do you know how to do this? – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:31, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Jonesey95 Module:ISO 3166 already uses the tracking categories at Module:ISO_3166/doc#Tracking_categories but I was inadvertently stripping them out. They should now be passed through correctly. However, if Module:ISO 3166 recognizes a country but Module:Iso2nationality doesn't, it still will just fail silently for now. Not sure if I'd want to use the same tracking categories or start a new one for that. --Ahecht (TALK

|nocat=true
to Template:Infobox film/short description, since it was being triggered every time a film was listed as coming from more than one country. --Ahecht (TALK

Ideally, pages like Zapomniana melodia, which uses an unrecognized country, would be placed in a tracking category so that their short descriptions could be fixed or made local to the article. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:48, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
