Squatting in Nepal

  • ... that in Nepal, the term "sukumbasi" is used to refer to squatters, but because of its negative connotations, they typically avoid using it themselves?
  • Source: Tanaka, Masako (1999). "Which female-headed household is really vulnerable? Field notes on female-headed households of squatter settlements in Kathmandu, Nepal". Journal of Asian Women's Studies. 6/7: 22–48.

@Lullabying and LunaEatsTuna: Can I offer this alternative formatting and phrasing of the hook:

  • ... that the Nepali term 'sukumbasi' refers to squatters, but they typically avoid using the word because of its negative connotations?
The {{lang}} template makes the Nepali term italicized, and single quotes are advised by MOS:SINGLE. Regards, Rjjiii (talk) 01:29, 5 March 2025 (UTC) Edit: oh, I need to {{ping}} the users Mujinga and B33net. LunaEatsTuna was listed on the template but apparently never edited this page before the ping above?
