I have tried to access two references because I thought they would provide a source where citation is still needed. In general, I would prefer to use sources that have already been included because I assume they already meet Wikipedia's standards. During this process (thus far) I came across two articles I can not access due to a paywall issue. I even created accounts and logged but that is not enough. You can only access these two articles with a paid subscription.
The two are currently referenced as 14 and 15, The Tennessean (ref name="tennessean" /) and Boston Globe (ref name="Larson-2024" /), respectively.
How does one handle verifying inaccessible articles? Did I miss something in the archives where someone shared the relevant information? Is there something I don't understand due to my lack of experience?
To be clear, it is not a huge problem with The Tennessean. If my count is correct, it is only used two times and both instances include another alternative reference. However, not being able to read The Boston Globe is problematic. How does a contributor work around these issues?
Thanks!!!!! CulinaryAdventurer (talk) 20:29, 18 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I continued attempting to access The Tennessean and just could not so I called their customer service. Hazel was very helpful. She explained that in order to access the article for free, I needed to be emailed (share) a link from someone who already had access. How does Wikipedia handle situations like that? Is there a page where I can request Wikipedia share an article with me? I appreciate any assistance anyone has in this process.
As for the Boston Globe, the new link worked perfectly. Would it be appropriate for the link to be updated (or did you already do that)?
