It is important to mention who owns the browser

[edit]

For some reason the fact that it is owned by Chinese consortium, is unknown to most of the people who use it. 2A06:C701:4903:A200:FC72:201F:F603:C1F7 (talk) 21:37, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ooh, a conspiracy theorist, huh? I'm 2 years late for the party, but, man. If you think that Opera is owned by China, maybe try looking for Opera in Poland. The Master of Hedgehogs (converse) (hedgehogs) 19:47, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There is no conspiracy. Since 2020, Opera is a subsidiary of Kunlun Tech Co. LTD. A Beijing based company owned by Zhou Yahui. While there is no public evidence of information sharing; by virtue of now being owned by a Chinese company, Opera is subject to the mandatory data sharing policy of the Chinese Government.
At the very least, that is worth mentioning. Taffy-nay (talk) 11:37, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Selling data

[edit]

I’m surprised there’s no information about how everyone was super pissed after they allegedly sell their data to china, should this be added? 104.169.12.147 (talk) 08:59, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
