This Nymphaeum was not a nymphaeum!

It would be appropriate to write in the entry that the nymphaeum of Amman is not a nymphaeum! It was called so because of its typological similarity to a nymphaeum but since the works conducted by DoA and IFPO in 1995 it was clear that there was no water show or collection basin, despite the many imaginative reconstructions made even recently. The building falls within the typology of the "exedra monuments" of the province of Arabia linked to the cult of the emperor, as in Philippopolis, in Bostra, in the Trapezia square of Jerash...
