UN office Nairobi

[edit]

CarlTheCoincleaner, this source and this one states that the Armenian representative to the UN Office at Nairobi maintains their residence in Nairobi. If it were in Addis Ababa, surely it would say that. I tried to find sources to see if what you're claiming is true, however, sources like this and this are ambiguous and do not confirm or deny if the residency is in Addis Ababa or Nairobi.

I've left your edit in tact, but the WP:ONUS is on you to provide WP:RS to validate your edit. Please provide a source confirming your claim. Archives908 (talk) 01:13, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Also, to be clear, I recognize that one of the sources you added confirms that (just UNEP) is accredited to the Addis Ababa representation. Although, it still conflicts with what the Armenian MFA website says regarding residency- which is frustrating to say the least. Archives908 (talk) 01:23, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Archives908, the MFA website is either not updated or mistaken. Of all the sources that I referenced, you did not mention one (https://capitalethiopia.com/2025/03/03/armenia-and-ethiopia-forging-a-future-built-on-centuries-of-shared-history/), in which the Armenian ambassador to Ethiopia, Sahak Sargsyan, is recorded saying the following: "As you know, our Embassy in Addis Ababa is also accredited to the African Union and UNECA, and to neighboring countries Djibouti, Rwanda and Kenya, as well as with the UN Agencies in Nairobi."

Therefore, there is only one Armenian diplomatic mission accredited to all the aforementioned entities, and it is resident in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Republic of Armenia does not maintain a separate mission in Nairobi, Kenya; otherwise, the MFA website would list a separate mission, and more importantly, a separate ambassador. It also should be noted that very few countries maintain a mission to the UN agencies in Nairobi which is separate from their embassies to Kenya, as the common practice is that their respective ambassadors to Kenya are concurrently the permanent representatives to the UN agencies there. It's generally not up to Wikipedia editors to determine whether official MFA websites are "not updated" or "mistaken". Nonetheless, I will accept your rationale since there isn't any convincing sources to prove otherwise. Archives908 (talk) 04:49, 17 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
