Excessive citations

[edit]

In the embedded list the name "Muhammad Abd Allah Mansur Al" has eight citations. I did not examine them but more than three or four is enough to backup content. When an article has 8 out of 27 references, the number on the entire article which is around 30%, that is excessive. At best it is needless repetition. It can conjure up concerns of POV pushing or notability bombing. It is distracting and is unnecessary as there is no citation emergency.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Otr500 (talkcontribs) 22:42, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the melodramatic {{error}} from this page. This is just one of 67 (so far) members of Category:Articles tagged with the inline citation overkill template from January 2025. Someone who patrols that category will eventually get to it. My time is oversubscribed so I can't fork my time to work this list myself, without neglecting my higher priorities, among which are tending to {{error}}s. – wbm1058 (talk) 19:21, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I see I also missed signing my comments. We had a freak storm (snow and ice in deep south Louisiana) that knocked out electricity and pretty much closed the state down. When the lights came on I had lost unsaved information. I didn't see what seemed like something cute to lighten up my dreary day, had made an error.
Two errors, I guess I earned castigation. I suppose since 2009 an editor should not be raked over coals for making, as far as I know, two errors. I am blessed that I escaped being tarred and feathered.
I am sorry you are so overworked and that I caused you consternation and extra work. That was not my intention. Maintenance is usually so far behind concerning the vast majority of Wikipedia that I leave talk page notes for myself, as well as others that might take interest. At my age, and being tested for ALS, I cannot take life or Wikipedia too serious. The roads are cleared and I have an upcoming speech therapy appointment -- and a flat tire. Have great day. -- Otr500 (talk) 11:37, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
