Wrong heading
[edit]The heading gives the impression that the list is of Indus Valley Civilization sites, while it is clearly just a collection of everything that has been discovered in various locations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.37.147.149 (talk) 09:39, 2 August 2017 (UTC)

Ideas for fixing this article?
[edit]Gregory Possehl's book Indus age: the beginnings has an exhaustive list (as of 1999) of published IVC sites, also specifying the coordinates, observed cultural phases, and the size of each site. There might be more recent, updated listings somewhere. Maybe in Rita Wright's 2009 book? I can't check either one at the moment but may get round to it some time later.
If the representation of sites in India vs Pakistan is a concern, one could also add a mention, as Fowler&fowler did for the main IVC page, of the "two post-1947 national compulsions" that affected priorities and excavations. (Also tagging Dilpa kaur who tagged this page.) -Avantiputra7 (talk) 12:42, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
Move to List of Indus Valley Civilization sites
[edit]This article uses "civilisation" instead of "civilization". This spelling is incorrect. This page should be moved to "List of Indus Valley Civilization sites". Su-ilisu,emebal-meluhha (talk) 20:34, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- My understanding is that the Indian English spelling is with an 's' rather than a 'z'. --regentspark (comment) 21:08, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
Regarding Rakhigarhi
[edit]There seems to be some contention with regard to Rakhigarhi. I want to clarify my earlier edit tha was recently reverted by Qaiser. I respect his contributions. The reason I removed the other sources was because they were older than the 2014 discovery of the additional two mounds that made Rakhigarhi the largest site. If keeping them is fine, I have no issues with this (as long as the information is accurate). The Hindu is considered a reliable source, and evidence has come out to contradict the findings (apologies for any mistake made from my side). The only post-2014 source appears to be 'The Archaeology of South Asia' by Robin Coningham and Ruth Young. This is what their book says:
Five mounds have been identifi ed at Rakhigarhi, including what has been labelled a citadel mound complete with a mud-brick enclosing wall around it (Lal 2002 ). Withmoralcare (talk) 17:53, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- There isn't any mention of the new discoveries. This shows that the writers were probably in advanced stages of their work by the time the 2014 article was published or either somehow missed it. Either way, it would be preferable to choose the latest available evidence. Withmoralcare (talk) 17:54, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
