Hiya, I will review this myself shortly. Eddie891 Talk Work 10:30, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- Beginning:
- Image seems good
- Are "CD liner notes" (FN 8) an acceptable/reliable source? I honestly just don't know. Otherwise, all sources are reliable.
- It's a common practice for pop song articles to use CD notes so it should be fine. Ippantekina (talk) 05:11, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- It seems like there are some scholarly sources analyzing the song (see google scholar, which I'd expect to see added were we at FAC. Do you think a section on analysis is worthwhile? I'm thinking it might be needed for GACR#3a, but could be convinced otherwise.
- Eddie891 Talk Work 11:21, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'll definitely integrate quality academic papers into the article. Just that from the URL you provide, most are undergrad/grad theses... so it'll take a while to filter them out. Ippantekina (talk) 05:11, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Spotchecking a few sources
She first performed it on piano at the August 8, 2023, show in Los Angeles
- source says she performed “King of My Heart” on piano during her fifth night in Los Angeles. can we pinpoint that to 8 August?
- The phrasing
oversized tribal drums
andfull-trope [sic] choreography
are seemingly directly lifted from Billboard. I don't think it's rising to the level of copyvio, but can we rephrase a bit? Especially the first example is a pretty distinctive word choice. I'm more curious about the citing of this section. Can we really cite individual performance reviews (e.g. LA Times, Tampa Bay Times) to say that is how the song was presented across the whole tour?
- I tweaked the part. And I guess the Billboard source suffices for how the number was performed across the tour's shows :) Ippantekina (talk) 02:43, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
with lust as its central theme
, source says that while lust is a driving force, the song paints a complete picture of how their wholesome relationship is everything Swift didn’t think she’d ever get. To me, this is a slightly different implication.
Taylor Swift's fifth studio album, 1989 (2014), was a commercial success that transformed her image from a country music artist to a global pop icon
I agree with the sentiment, but how does FN 1 support the second half?
Done, added a reference. Ippantekina (talk) 02:58, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
Several reviews, including those by the Associated Press, the Tallahassee Democrat, and The Guardian, complimented its production and melody as catchy and engaging.
I think it would be better to include the reviews as a block at the end of this sentence, just so it is clear that they are citing the whole sentence
naming Phil Collins's "Take Me Home" (1985) as a reference point
He actually says that the drum beat came directly from Take Me Home. Is there any substance to that? To me, Smith would suggest it was more than just a 'reference point'
Done. Ippantekina (talk) 05:25, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
In 2024, The A.V. Club
Was it the AV Club, or a reviewer writing for the A.V. Club?
- Tweaked. Ippantekina (talk) 03:45, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
(Swift pronounces Jaguar using a British English accent)
is this encyclopedically relevant?
- I think so... because the AV Club also discussed the British hints.. what do you think? Ippantekina (talk) 03:45, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, that is fine by me Eddie891 Talk Work 10:14, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- I'd still like to take a look at Zaleski 2024, but overall am very happy with how the sourcing supports with the content. My points above are relatively minor, and a majority of the cites I looked at are issue free (didn't list them here, because I'm lazy). Eddie891 Talk Work 11:36, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Eddie, thanks for this review. I'll get back to you very soon. Ippantekina (talk) 03:14, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Eddie891: hey, thanks again for the review. I've addressed all of your comments, and I think you can access the Zaleski source via Google Books preview. Ippantekina (talk) 03:45, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Ippantekina. I will have a final read through of the prose now. here are a final few suggestions:
- "tribal drums" is weird to me. What does that mean? It's not like there is just one drum that is universally used by tribes...
- "Swift went on a hiatus" Might be helpful to put some sort of date?
- "something sacred throughout all the battle cries" I honestly don't understand what this means. Can you paraphrase or add some sort of explanation?
- ""robotic breakdown" similarly, what does this actually mean?
showcase Swift's "ignorance of racial appropriation".
can you expand on this point at all? I'm curious what is meant by this
- Overall, nice work! The article feels complete, and reads well. I have made the following changes myself: see here. Please feel free to revert any you dislike. Beyond these points, should be good to pass this review.
- Best, Eddie891 Talk Work 10:26, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hey there, thanks again for the additional comments. I've addressed all, except "robotic breakdown" which frankly... is what it is LOL. I'll include a music sample to illustrate that. Ippantekina (talk) 07:07, 10 June 2025 (UTC)
