Discussion of merging this article and March 2025 Venezuelan deportations
[edit]Just a heads up for anyone watching this article that there's a merge discussion on the March 2025 Venezuelan deportations talk page, considering merges in one or the other direction or leaving them unmerged. FactOrOpinion (talk) 19:27, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Update: the decision there was not to merge the two, but instead separate the content better, so some of the content from that article was transferred to this one. FactOrOpinion (talk) 02:41, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
TRO
[edit]What was the TRO that was ordered in the morning of the deportations? All the best: Rich Farmbrough 16:18, 28 March 2025 (UTC).
- It was a TRO just for the 5 plaintiffs, issued ~9:40am, before the hearing where the class was certified. If you want more detail about the timing of various actions/orders, see Boasberg's 3/24 opinion, starting at the bottom of p. 5, "Factual and Procedural Background." There aren't timestamps on the court docket, or on the individual motions/orders, but it looks like it's #7, "MINUTE ORDER ... Plaintiffs' 3 Motion for TRO is GRANTED..." Do you think the article should note the time that the first TRO was granted? FactOrOpinion (talk) 16:42, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Legal proceedings order
[edit]Just a suggestion but maybe we should list the legal proceedings top-down from the level of the court.
I think most people will be most interested in what the Supreme Court says, then the Circuit Court, then the District Court. Bob drobbs (talk) 00:03, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
- If SCOTUS says anything significant, I'm sure that we'll add it to the lead. But even in articles about SCOTUS cases, once you get past the lead, the article generally discusses the lower court rulings before getting to the Supreme Court discussion. FactOrOpinion (talk) 01:11, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
