Article title
[edit]Several dozen articles covering the various other Indian locomotives omit the word "railways" from the article title each time.
This article is the ONLY one of the series to include that word. Should this article be renamed to match all of the others?

- I should preface this by saying that I am fairly new to editing.
- I believe that consistency is key in the management of any encyclopedia. As such the term 'Railways' should be removed and the title updated to better reflect the title formatting of similar articles. ClauseTechnology (talk) 17:42, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

Indian Railways locomotive class WAM-2/3 → Indian locomotive class WAM-2 – Per WP:CONSISTENT, it feels weird having the title a little different from the rest of the Indian locomotive class articles, by having the word "Railways" being included. Also the article is mainly about the WAM-2 with its subclasses being briefly mentioned. Alternatively, we could rename the article to "Indian locomotive classes WAM-2 and WAM-3" or "Indian locomotive classes WAM-2, WAM-3 and WAP-2", although in my opinion "Indian locomotive class WAM-2" is a better title, as it is less bulky. - If the article contains information about WAM-2, WAM-3 and WAP-2, my initial preference is these should all be in the article title. This makes things easier to find from any category listings. If the article should ever become very large (looking unlikely any time soon), then it can be split into multiple articles at that time.
- The alternative is just WAM-2 in the title and new redirects set up from the other two loco class names.
- More input is welcomed from other editors, the posted notices seem to have brought no-one here. I made the initial talk post in January. -- 92.29.24.229 (talk) 17:04, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
- Added: Looking at the page history, it seems that the word Railways was added as recently as 9 May 2021 and should have been reverted back then. -- 92.29.24.229 (talk) 17:12, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
