HoYeon Jung → Jung Ho-yeon – No reason to use western naming order here when there seems to be a clear consensus in English-language reliable sources that the native eastern order is WP:COMMONNAME.
Reliable English-language sources using eastern order:
- NME
- Vanity Fair
- Variety
- W Magazine
- People Magazine
- The Hollywood Reporter
- Vulure
- Deadline
- NBC News
- Entertainment Weekly
- Time Magazine
- Glamour Magazine
- Nylon Magazine
- L'Officiel Malaysia
- Tatler Magazine
- South China Morning Post
- E!
- The Korea Herald
- The Independent
- Radio Times
- Elle Magazine
- Korea JoongAng Daily
- The Korea Times
- Lifestyle Asia
- GMA Network
- Vogue Singapore
- Yonhap News Agency
- India Today
- Phillippine Daily Inquirer
- The Express Tribune
- The Straits Times
- Voice of Indonesia
- Harper's Bazaar
Within English-language sources cited in this very article, the majority use Eastern order. It seems that approximately 21 English-language reliable sources use Eastern order, 17 use Western order (though this number may be inflated because the article contains a lot of Vogue citations, and they always seem to use western order), and around 8 just use "Hoyeon" with no surname.
Subject seems to be attempting to be mononomous these days, going by just "Hoyeon", which would likely be her personal preference, though there is no evidence that this is her WP:COMMONNAME. RachelTensions (talk) 17:52, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

- Support per consistency with other articles using Eastern naming. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 21:47, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support: as per nom to rename to her native name. 𝙳.𝟷𝟾𝚝𝚑 (𝚃𝚊𝚕𝚔) 02:17, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Comment When I created this article in 2018, I went with what she refers to herself as (which in this case is Western name order.) This was eons before Squid Game came along and practically anybody else outside of Vogue editions knew she even existed. No one would’ve used Eastern name order (like I said because she uses Western name order) had it not been for the credits of the Korean show. By all accounts, she still to this day uses Western name order to this day. Change it if you insist, but that was the rationale. Trillfendi (talk) 02:35, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Per WP:KOREANNAME, WP:COMMONNAME is prioritized over personal preference spelling. And COMMONNAME is determined by current common practice, not past. Think the move is correct seefooddiet (talk) 03:30, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support per nom. It is common to see some discrepancy in cases like this but here we have a variety of sources from Asia and North America supporting the move.--MYCETEAE 🍄🟫—talk 03:34, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
