Oppose No evidence that Lebanese and Syrian forces have directly clashed with each other.
Additionally, according to this source:

"Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Friday announced an agreement with his Syrian counterpart, Ahmed al-Sharaa, to coordinate efforts in securing the borders between the two countries...

The statement added that the two presidents agreed to "coordinate efforts to secure the Lebanese-Syrian borders and prevent attacks on civilians."[1]

I believe the key factor is that the clashes occurred along the border, rather than whether government forces were involved. For example, in the "2012–2017 Lebanon–Syria border clashes", one side of the belligerents was not a state actor.

Well I think that its more appropriate to shift that page title to "Lebanon-Syrian opposition clashes (2012–2017)".
The wiki page about the clashes between the State of Israel and Hezbollah militant group between October 2023 and September 2024 is titled "Israel–Hezbollah conflict (2023–2024)"; and not as "Israel-Lebanon conflict (2023–2024)".
Furthermore, it's clear that the Lebanese army is deployed in the border to crack down on Hezbollah militants engaged in attacks and smuggling activities at the Lebanese-Syria border:

"... the Lebanese army has deployed reinforcements and warned Hezbollah-linked militants to withdraw from border areas. ...

The escalation prompted a phone call between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, during which both leaders emphasized the need for coordination to de-escalate tensions."[2]

== Syria and lebanon are fighting each other not on the same side they are just cordinating with each other to stop the clashes between syrian groups military operations department and lebanese groups hezbollah

Lebanon has bombed syrian positions 176.72.95.104 (talk) 13:22, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I propose merging Lebanon–Syria border clashes (March 2025–present) into Hezbollah–Syria clashes (2024–present) as the two articles are talking about the same conflict. Scuba 22:37, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support since the other article feels a bit like WP:RECENTISM. Asclepias tuberosa (talk) 00:28, 28 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support the proposed merger, since the two pages are regarding the same conflict. Shadowwarrior8 (talk) 12:59, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support per nom. Skitash (talk) 13:48, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support with a possible caveat. Otherwise support per nom and others. I note that part of the additional March 25 incident information is already on this page. Merging the additional information will not create an overly long article. The only argument for keeping a separate article on the new incident(s) might be whether the "Lebanese tribal groups" who attacked Syrian forces were in fact affiliated with Hezbollah. Hezbollah's denials can not be taken at face value, of course, although they need to be mentioned for completeness. This uncertainty might suggest a renaming of the new article and changing the main article link name here. Since the incidents are arguably, if not conclusively, related to Hezbollah, I think mention needs to be kept here even if the later article is renamed. Donner60 (talk) 03:30, 4 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
