I see a lot of changes in the body of the article from non-registered visitors to change Hoshoryu's rank to "ozeki". In the same way as it was discussed for Kirishima, I'd like to point out that it would be a good idea to wait for, at least, the swearing-in ceremony before referring to him as ozeki. Some might even argue that it is better to wait until the banzuke, which is the only proof that a rank has actually been exercised. Anyway at this point, Hoshoryu is "only" a sekiwake with the certitude of being promoted, not an ozeki effectively. - OtharLuin (talk) 19:52, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So that no one makes a mistake, the number of P (for playoff) for the July 2020 tournament is not a mistake. Hoshoryu faced 5 other wrestlers for the title, and the method of presentation is to add a P for each wrestler (other than the one in the article) involved in the playoff. The two P's previously posted do not really reflect the reality of the playoff by only mentioning the three wrestlers who passed the first stage of the playoff. - OtharLuin (talk) 06:55, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to post a quick note (remembering edits of the most recent yokozuna promotions) that Hōshōryū's promotion to yokozuna is not official until it is approved by the Sumo Association, which will be done on the morning of January 29, 2025 in Japan. Until this happens, he is still considered to be an ōzeki. Also, as of the time of this post, the official Sumo Association website and his Sumo profile continue to list him as an ōzeki.
